I have never seen them, just not my sort of film. That being said, I really want to watch the Evil Dead series and want my brother to get them back from his girlfriend or who ever it is he lent them too.

Saw = horror movie series about a killer who wants to teach people to live (who doesn't like irony). He puts them in horrible situations where they either have to kill someone else or cut open themselves or some other horrifying thing to get free. I like the movies because there are some really original and clever twists to it... and well the different situations he puts people in are just really well thought out. Also even though it contains a lot of gore, it's still focused somewhat more on the psychological side of the victims... which makes it all the more interesting. Unknown actors makes the movie more convincing too, even though they don't exactly wow me. The fact that these movies have aired here in Finland on occasions such as Halloween at 1am, is just so suiting.
Evil Dead I know nothing about...

I totally agree though- to have a good horrow/psychological thiller you need to have relatively unknown actors. Like the Hostel series.
Evil Dead is a horror series from the 80's. It was Sam Rami's third movie, but the one that placed him on the map as a good director. As must horror films go, they had a tiny budget to work with but made an "instant" classic horror movie. The hero of the series is called Ashley J Williams, or more commonly refered to as just ASH, who is a Chainsaw Weilding and Shotgun blasting hero! The basic plot line is that five friends spend the night in a cabin in the middle of nowhere and unknowning release evil upon the world.
I want to watch it.

Horror and gore movies usually do nothing for me and I don't watch them. I did see Army of Darkness, though. A sequel of sorts to the Evil Dead series that took a fantasy and severly comical view of things. Bruce Campbell is utterly awesome! mrgreen

YES! It combines your standard horror elements with slapstick and good old british humor brilliantly.
Did you know that Bruce Campbell's first movie was Evil Dead?

Yup Shaun of the Dead was really nice <3 Definately can recommend it. Who doesn't love British humor?
(even though I don't really like 'Little Britain' or 'Kath and Kim'...)

British humor has no middle ground for me. I either passionately love it, or totally hate it.
