Set up equiptment, Fight off Wampas, Tame Tauntauns, Monitor imperial movements... etc...

Pilots still pulled recon duty and stuff like that. Either that, or Luke and Han got the s**t end of a bad bet.
We still perform duties that the rest of the base does, whether you like it or not. Just because you're a pilot doesn't mean you just sit on your a** and do nothing just because you're not flying in space.
Plus, I have a specific thing for us to do, but I can't do it until I get back from Montana this weekend, so go fight a wampa.
