Nathan gave up and sat on the floor. "Fine. But if whichever part is being stupid gets me hurt, then I'll have to destroy it afterwards. Too stupid by more than half, so it seems."
He raised his head and smiled tightly. "Do you enjoy working here?"

"Long story, but no, I don't despise Demons. Just can't get close to them - not usually a bother, since I've only ever met one in my entire life... sorry. I mean two, but the second and last one I really do hate. Not met any other Angels either...."
Nathan picked at his collar, feeling like the air was disappearing. "Did I leave those books on the counter? I need them before I leave..."

Nathan shook his head. "No, I don't, and I'm not so sure I should meet anybody. So..." he stepped forward and got out his card. "If I could pay for them now, please, I'd be grateful..."

Nathan blushed, fighting the urge to scold Yoru for allowing himself to be belittled like that - what if a customer took a 'shine' to him, and demanded something unreasonable?!
Then he gritted his teeth and moved forward, each step seeming to hurt him: seemed his body still didn't want to leave...
With a sigh, he looked Yoru in the eye. "Am I allowed to return here often to see you, most likely without speaking, or would that worry you and make you call me a stalker? I don't want to be that, but it seems my feet are determined to plant me here, and thus they might make me return all by themselves..."

"I have no problem with that. It is a free country from what I have heard and you are allowed to enter an establishment as many times as you please. So long as you are not trying to do something that is against the law there is no problem. Personally I enjoy having the opportunity to see familiar faces everyday. That is usually how friendships begin."

Nathan started at the word 'friendships', then shook his head. Taking a deep breath, he forced a smile and handed over the correct money. "Thank you. Have a good day, and... you're doing a very good thing for the children. Even if things become awkward somehow between us, just tell me - leave a note with the nurses or on the door - and I'll make sure not to be around then..."

It was obvious to Yoru that Nathan was beginning to felt an attraction to him. The thought of being with another man never occurred to him. He never really approved of it rather. He was waiting for his family to find him a young woman of equal social rank. In the meantime he stayed amongst humans to avoid them. He wouldn't really say that Nathan bothered him, but his actions and comments were rather strange.

Nathan picked up the books and nodded. "If you don't want to see me, then please tell me now - you don't have to be my friend." A sad smile formed before he could stop it. "Probably better not to be anyway..."

Nathan shrugged. "I've felt very odd from the moment we met. Since I'm bothering you, I'll leave and make sure to avoid you." He bowed. "I apologise for this afternoon, but I didn't expect to see you again. Take care of the children..."
I'll leave for a few days. I have that apartment a train ride away, can be a recluse and let the memory of today die.

He was now familiar with the other having read Nathan's mind deeply but he still did not know he and Mao were really the same.

"Definitely avoidance then. No blame as it is uncontrollable, but I do not wish to be read that way or that easily. Enjoy the rest of your day..." he mumbled, leaving at a fast pace.
I hate it, but I'll be back because he reminds me of... Mao... Tears welled and spilt, forcing him to bend his head and run headlong down the street without a clue where he was going.
The books had fallen as soon as he set off.
