Shi was doing pretty much what she had done every day since talking with Sei. She was practicing...hard on what he had shown her. The sooner she mastered these things, the sooner she could get her life back and allay certain reservations.
It was only a matter of time...

*Gaia, again*
You didn't haveta love me but you did, but you did, but you did... And I thank you! You didn't haveta squeeze me, but you did, but you did, but you did...
Silva leaned back against the window frame, smirking slightly just in satisfaction. The boys were dancing, acting like goofs, but it got them off their asses, which was as much as he could act for during break time like this. The new cat... Chame... Or Chime or something, was stuck under the bottlecap, acting much like a blind turtle as it tried to get out. The wolf and the hyena were asleep on their pillows, waiting for the night hunting to come.
And Silva? Silva was enjoying the music and the lack of bitching. He had never realized just how good he had it until faced with the idea of an owner like Pirate Barbie. He let his eyes close to half mast, turning to look out the window at the snow that was already melting. Kisa was outside, sitting and watching a bird fly with a quiet smile.
Ice was on the phone, talking to the white haired b*****d from GoldRings. He wasn't sure, but he felt something was about to go down. Something that could affect him... It wasn't a bad feeling, just one that made him curious.
After a second he shoved himself to his feet and flew to the hall, pausing out of sight and straining to hear Ice's voice.
"That's right. I'll head over to Masquerade now. Of course I can find Silva, I might be calmer then that dimension's Ice, but--"
Silva jerked, wondering what she was talking about. She knew where he was! At least NOW she did... but it was as if she was talking about someone else...
"Yeah. I won't even ask for a part of his bounty. Just get over here once a week for the next..."
Silva leaned back against the wall, staring straight forward as he realized who she was talking about. It had to be him... the smoking man. And she was selling him for a bounty? He headed back into the room, heading for the computer and pulling up the schedule. Sure enough, it was set on Masquerade.
Without a thought he headed back for the door, pulling it open and flying through. He had a debt to pay, no matter whether he liked the b*****d he owed or not.
He would warn the poacher. Whether the b*****d believed him or not didn't matter. As long as his debt was repaid.
He didn't even notice that the door had closed behind him.

Silva headed further into the woods, taking in the area with a hint of expertise, although he had been there only one time before. He almost expected the man to step out of the trees again, as if waiting for him. But nothing happened.
Shouting seemed a stupid idea, it would just bring attention to him, probably not the attention he wanted, either. So he headed in further, sniffing the air for the scent of blood... or smoke. He got a hint of both, and turned, heading in their general direction. Or what he hoped was their general direction. After what seemed forever he came upon the small fire, the white haired male sitting there, roasting meat on a stick.
"Didn't think you'd have the guts to come back, boy." The man said, not even looking up. Silva scowled, remembering how much he hated this man.
"I have a debt to repay." Silva replied, bluntly. He headed forward, letting himself be seen. The man at the fire looked at him for a second, then nodded, as if not surprised.
"That's what I thought you would say." *************************
Ice trudged through the forest, scowling every once in a while as she glanced over at the man walking beside her. "I could have done this on my own, you know." She said, pulling her broadsword off of her back. She had had to dig it out of the closet, wasn't even sure the blade was sharp anymore...
"Sure, Darlin, but I've heard stories about this Silva guy." Boss replied, looking for all intents and purposes as if he was taking a daily walk, his hands shoved in the pockets of his surf shorts, his Tank Top proudly proclaiming the words "Vix Beach," his tennis shoes the only thing different. He wasn't wearing sandels like he usually did.
Ice just grunted, cutting through the underbrush and trudging forward. The sooner they got this done with, the better. She sniffed the air, smelling the sickeningly sweet smell of blood in the air. There was a lot of it, either a human had been slaughtered, leaving only small pieces behind, or a Rade had been killed. She was guessing the Rade.
"We're getting closer." Boss said, unnecessarily. Then he went silent, almost seeming to disappear as Ice glanced over to say something sarcastic. She blinked, not sure what had happened.
"He's gone." The words made her jerk, looking up to see Boss holding something struggling slightly in his hands. "But I think this belongs to you." He finished, shoving Silva towards her.
"Silva? You..." Ice stopped, not sure what to say. He had betrayed her... at least... that was the only thing she could think of.
Silva shoved out of Boss's loosened grasp then flew to Ice, staring her in the eye, chewing on his toothpick slightly.
"Why'd you do it?" She finally asked, feeling slightly empty. Sure, he wasn't the nicest person out there... but she had never thought he would--
"Let's go home." Was all he said, passing her and heading to where the door should have been. There was nothing there. "Dammit."
Ice sighed, looking over at Boss. "I guess the deal's off." She said simply, opening a rift and disappearing, the impatient fairy hovering above her right shoulder.
Boss scowled slightly, then turned and walked away. He would finish the job later. At least now he knew what planet to look on.

Nika spotted Shi. A smile curved his eyes. She was practising. Shi seemed to be doing a lot of that.
Slowly, he wandered over to her. Would she like to come along? How ridiculous would it be to go an his own?
He smirked. If he did leave on his own, Gee would lock him in his room for the rest of his life, he was sure, but Shi would strangle him.
It was definately wiser to ask for help.
'Hey, Shi. Havin' fun?'

Looking up, her eyes curved in a definite smile. *Hello Nika. Fun?* she looked down at herself with a grin *Maybe not in anyone elses' definition of the word...but yes. *
Something seemed to be on his mind. Or rather, she felt that he was struggling with something. It wasn't too clear, but she was rather proud of the fact she was able to get anything at all. Usually she was so nervous all she felt were her own emotions.
*Did you need something?* she asked.

'Need something?... kind of. If you don't want to come along, I completely understand.'
Nika ran a hand through his blond hair and kicked at a small shrub. He remembered that they had talked about the past before, talked about trying to figure out what happened and he had been stubborn. He didn't want to know. Not then.
Now, however. He did want to know. He wanted answers.
'But,' he paused, 'I want answers and I think I'm going to go, even if you don't come along.'
His voice shook with uncertainty.

She widened her eyes slightly. She had not expected to hear such things from Nika. He had seemed so...avoidant. Like Cern.
*Where?* she replied immediately, getting to her feet. *And how many?*

'The ruins,' he sighed and tilted his head to the side, 'How many what? Rade? Will you come with me, Shi? I know that it is a lot to ask...'
He stopped, suddenly, aware that he was rambling.
'Do you think that anybody else would like to come along?'

*I did mean how many others we should ask to come.* she clarified, her expression darkening at the thought of Rade. Fingers tightening, she noticed the movement and smoothed out her features immediately. It would not due to lose her temper now. He might...reconsider.
*Do you think we are prepared?* she inquired.

She was completely unaware of what was currently taking place. The only thing she knew was there was the hard ground beneath her feet and the acute smell of civilization ahead. Her muscles strained and burned with pain as she used her remaining energy to propel herself towards the room she was staying at. Her head was bowed the entire time, eyes shut against the onslaught of tears that seeped through her lids and clung desperately to her lashes. Her chest was tight and something built up within it, bubbling over the edge as she tore into her room.
Sukkubus landed heavily on her cot, a loud sob heaving her chest upwards. A familiar warmth was pressed against her thigh, and reaching down, the fox-girl pulled her mask from placed, nearly crushing it against her chest. Dry retches followed her sob, becoming a mix between the two. Her tail coiled tightly around her leg, her ears flattening against her skull.
Sukk~~u... a melodic voice sang within her head. Su~huuukku~!!
The young woman ground her teeth and drew her knees up. She needed to regain her composure. She had to. She would not lose control like this. As she stroked the reassuring warmth of the masque, and began to gradually relax, her eyes opening to mere slits. Tears made her vision prism and she blinked rapidly to push them back. Breath hitching only several more times, Sukku began to calm...albeit slowly. She laid prone on her cot for minutes on end, time slowly dragging by.
So slowly, the emotionally unstable girl found herself falling into a light sleep.

'Oh,' he smiled weakly, noticing how tence she became when the rade were mentioned.
'Honestly? I haven't really thought about being prepared or not... I remember how to get there...'
((Oh! Wouldn't it be SO cool and handy if there were secret passages and stuff like that? Something the rade didn't know about.
Perhaps an emergency exit? In case the rade did suddenly and unpredictably attack?))

Zahar looked around warily. 'I do not care. I cannot go back there as it is now. Oh, how could I look at anyone the same again. They should all hate me.' She gulped remembering the looks Io would give her. Io remembered, who else? Kasai and Galilee didn't seem to know. Zahar stood and paced in the very small clearing still debating wether she shoud go on or back. Would anyone other then Kataio care either way?

Io woke, groaning slightly as her head throbbed with pain. She lifted her hand, touching her temple, only to blink as something nudged at the back of her mind. Her hand paused, rubbing the skin of her face, then slowly trailing down her cheek, over her lips. Her eyes went wide. She was...
"Maskless." She whispered, only to jerk as her voice hit the air. She turned, looking around. "Sei? Uncle Sei--" He wasn't there, but there was a faint scent of perfume in the air.
She shoved herself to her feet, heading for the mirror on the wall and looking at herself for a long while, still unable to believe. If Sei could do this... Why hadn't he freed himself?
Turning she headed out the door, intent on finding him and asking. But before she found him she caught sight of two masques, one the diamond dragon, the other... "Father..." she whispered, stopping at the trees, not knowing if she should try to catch their attention or not. Why were they in this part of the woods? This was where the Rade were...

Kasai's mind started to wander as they walked, mulling over everything and mulling over nothing. He mulled over the strange vision he had when he grew, it was so disjointed and hardly there that he wanted to brush it off as just some sort of hallucination. Everytime he tried to just brush it aside though, a nagging thought came to him...a thought that said there was something more to it. Kasai sent the image to the back of his mind to be mulled over later, now he was going to the ruins and could think that over later by himself. Looking up he realized that perhaps he was not going to the ruins, Galilee was no where to be seen. Having his mind wrapped up in things he had zigged when Gali zagged.
Kasai sighed mentally and started off in a direction he hoped was the right one. He would have called out for Gali, but remembered what Ice had said about unwanted attention being drawn when you did that. So for now he just kept walking hopefully he would find Galilee or someone else soon. He had never been to the ruins so he could only guess as to where they were. A tree creaked as Kasai passed it making him start slightly, he loosened the blaster he had taken from the house, at least this way if something jumped out he hoped he would be more ready.

With his shirt on the ground, Cern was attempting to decide which plants ought to go back with him. One of his self assigned responsibilities of late had been to familiarize the big cats and other pets aboard his and Ed's ship got used to the environment before they stepped into it. He brought them plants, soil, and let them sniff him after he hung out with anyone.
Using his fingers to clear a small spot at the base of one tree, he leaned back against it. It wasn't that he was being lazy. More that there was so little to get done today. Take the plants home, check on Eggumoss and the cats, see how the kittens were, and do his evening yoga. He stretched his back against the tree's trunk, hearing a hollow spot within the bark crack back at him. Too bad no one seemed to be around. He hadn't seen much of anyone lately.
