"We can do this," Alexei replied, "though I think someone will start to miss us at the Garden sometime. We do have re-sponsibilities. But sunset I think we could get away with."
He tried to gauge the hour by their shadows - sunset was awhile off yet, but he was content to wait there with her for it.

Adara made a slightly pouty face at the fact that they would have to go back to the Garden, curling herself up a bit in protest.
"I don't want to spend the night in my dorm again. It's too nice out here. Can we pleeeeeease stay out here?" she glanced up at him with a pleading look in her eyes. The expression was entirely to get him to cave in to the idea, but it was good enough that it he wouldn't be able to tell. "Or at least go to your dorm this time?"

Alexei couldn't deny a face like that. He cooed at her pouting eyes and hugged her tightly.
"Awe, I cannot say no to that. Of course we can stay. I brought blankets in case, it will get cool."
He leaned back against the tree's trunk and sighed. It truly was beautiful - the sun drew a streak of sparkling light across the ocean and highlighted the town of Balamb below them. It looked as though the whole world shone from their hide-away perch.

Success!
"Yay. I'm sure we'll find a way to stay warm enough," Adara smirked up at him and leaned back on her elbows as he sat against the tree.
The view was, in fact, incredible. It was like the view of the Garden from the secret balcony in a much bigger scale, which she loved. Yet, as much as she loved looking out at the glittering ocean and the glowing edges and slowly creeping shadows in the town, the girl always found herself turning her gaze. It wasn't just the town that the sun was lighting up.
"You're amazing, you know that?"

Alexei scoffed and shook his head.
"I do what I do and hope it makes you happy."
He turned his head to notice that she was looking up at him. His grin grew slowly as he gazed into her eyes.
"I ... could do this forever."

"Well, I dunno about forever... it would get pretty cold out here in the winter and unless you built a bathroom up here..." Adara matched his slowly creeping smile and laughed.
Something about being out there, in a tree, with him was greatly soothing and and the girl could feel the negativity that she had been carrying around since her return start to dissipate. Maybe she could do this forever...
She tilted her head slightly, keeping eye contact with him. He was so unique, which was what she loved about him. His eyes were so fascinating to her. Her mother had taught her that old saying about the eyes being windows to the soul, and they both believed it. Adara believed that one could learn a lot about another by studying their eyes. The fact that Alexei's were different colours put so many questions through her mind. Was it genetic or acquired? Was the affected one the darker or lighter?
There was a reason she kept her poetry books in the biology section....
"The fact that what you do always seems to make me happy, is what makes me even happier. I love trying to figure out what you're going to do next, and I'm always pleasantly surprised. Maybe I could do this forever."

Alexei reached up to rub her cheek fondly with his thumb. It amazed him that she could always come up with such flattering things to say about him.
"Forever ... yes. I will hold you to that, so you must be safe. I can not always be there to tackle you out of Aki's way."
He grinned, remembering their first ... contact. Fenrir had taken partial control of her and in her battle frenzy, she'd bitten Alexei in the neck. It was an interesting experience for both of them.

Adara laughed at the memory of what Fenrir had made her do and his reaction to it, "Awwww, but that was fuuuuun! Didn't you have fun with that?"

"The part where you were not in danger of beheading by sword was fun..." he said, laughing along with her. He brushed his auburn hair out of his eyes and reached down to take her hand in his, intertwining their fingers and placing kisses on each of her knuckles.
"It certainly makes for interesting 'how we met' story."

"Naaah, I was fine. I could'a helped, but Blank and Tiamat were set on keeping me out of it," a satisfying shiver skipped across her skin as he kissed her knuckles and she smiled wider. "I'm glad you stepped in though. Otherwise, who knows what would have happened. That and I might have gotten hurt that day too!"
Adara smirked and shifted a bit on the canvas. With her free hand she reached over and produced the wine bottle again.
"Should we drink this now, or later?"

Alexei smirked and took the wine bottle from her hands to inspect it, slowly reading the words printed on the label.
"Well, you brought it up, so I am guessing that you think we should. I agree. Just be careful not to fall out of tree."
He sat up and laid the bottle back in her hand, leaning over to kiss her at the same time.
"We did this all the time, my father and me. We would go out hunting, and if we ended up too far out by nightfall, we would camp up in trees. Was safer in Crescent, there are big monsters there, but they cannot climb."

As he inspected the bottle, Adara shifted to her side and rummaged through her backpack until she found the corkscrew that she had bought as well.
"You should tell me about him, and Crescent. I love hearing about it," the girl smiled adoringly up at him as she jammed the pointed end into the top of the cork and begin forcing it out. They were always in tighter in the iced wines it seemed, which made sense because they were more sensitive. When it finally came out with a small pop, she threw it to the end of the canvas by her feet and took a small sip to taste it.... then took another larger sip with a smile.

Alexei chuckled at her obvious approval of the wine.
"Is good, I guess?" he said, his wide smile never fading. He waited for her to offer it to him, instead obliging her request to hear about his home.
"Crescent is something you must see to understand, but I can tell you what I can tell you. My father is tall man, broad and strong. He could track falcon on a cloudy day. Taught me how to hunt, and survive in the wild. We would drink vodka on cold nights to warm our bellies. Gets very cold up there."

"Very," she responded between taking another drink from the bottle and holding it out towards him with a smirk.
Adara shifted so that she was laying against a low branch so that she could look up at him while he spoke about his father. Hearing about him made her understand a fair bit about how Alexei was. It made her laugh quietly to herself and she cuddled up beside him.
"He sounds like a good man. I'd love to meet him one day," she hinted with hardly any trace of subtlety. "I want to hear all about Crescent."

"You will. I'll take you there. After SeeD exam. When I become a SeeD," Alexei replied, absolutely confident that he would pass the exam and become one of Garden's elite.
"They will want to see me when I do."
He took a sip from the wine bottle and his eyes lit up pleasantly.
"This is good..."
