"I don't have many runners on my team. Ivy's slow, Karri floats, Ebony floats, Haku swims, Zyphyr flys, so that leave me with my trusty Sapphire." Mitsu finally decided, seeing as the answer was quite obvious. "And let me guess. For you, oh I don't know? Apollo?" She smiled as well, knowing that that too was an obvious choice. "I wonder who everyone else will enter with," she said absent mindedly forgetting for a second that she was on the phone with Dante. Haku gave a light yawn, growing bored of blowing bubbles and spraying jet black ink at random people who happened to pass by.

M.A. felt Crenu brush past her, but said and did nothing else. So, that's all, huh? she felt herself muse distantly as she watched the boy's back disappear in the distance. Somehow, she felt detatched from herself, as if she had not really been there, as if she had only been a spectator to it all. I can't do anything. . . Can't make a difference, can't help anyone, can I?

It wasn't depression that set in her -- it was more of a dream-like, surreal emptiness. She didn't know what to think or do. However, Crenu's words, although spoken quietly, echoed loudly in her easily impressionable mind. Were friends really just that? Strangers who wanted something from each other? Was friendship just a facade, just a show that hid all the one-sidedness? No, of course it wasn't. . . But the doubt resisted defiance, and remained in her. What if it was? All the people she'd met on this journey so far -- the Winstrates, Kasiya, Mitsu, Kilik, Ky, Crenu -- she would of thought of as friends, although she did not know any of them very well yet. But in truth, had she only wanted something from them? Kindness? Company?

Sighing, she moved back to the lobby's couch a few feet away, letting herself fall into the cushion. Sure, the day had only begun an hour or two ago, but she felt utterly drained. The doubts still circled her mind, not slowing one bit. Distantly, she saw that Phanpy come to her and nuzzle her legs, but did nothing but pat its head robotically. What would Michael have said? Why couldn't she think on her own?

Suddenly, one of her Pokeballs at her side popped open, revealing an all-too-familiar Houndour in a white light. Why Daemyn had chosen to break out of his Pokeball was unsure; maybe he was just getting cramped, or maybe he had sensed M.A.'s distress. Nevertheless, he set his hind legs on M.A.'s lap, 'standing up' as you will, with his face in hers. The young puppy's eyes were dark, serious, yet understanding; without a sound, they stared at each other for a while. This was a relationship that did not need words. Suddenly, the silence ended when Daemyn began to noisily lick the girl's face.

Reluctantly, M.A. smiled. "Aw, stop it, you're soakin' me," she squirmed, picking up the small Houndour and holding him parallel to her eyes. "You're no stranger. . . And you want something, but it's. . . me, isn't it?" she whispered. The puppy's face was washed over with total comprehension, and he nodded. "And I want you, adore you, too." A deep fondness rushed between the two, and M.A. felt the clouds in her head clear again to let sunlight in. "Thank you," she murmured.

But what of Ky? Crenu had been a very close friend, M.A. knew. Quietly, she walked up to the younger boy, Daemyn in her arms and the Phanpy at her heels.

"Sapphire would be a good choice. Of course I am entering Apollo, win or not he always loves the chance to streach his legs." Looking out the window for a moment watching his two pokemon having fun. While Levi was small now and able to carry around in Moeders pouch. Dante had a feeling that Moeder would be very sad when Levi evolved. Turning his attention back to the room he sighed boredly. "It is so boring here. I think I might give myself an early release. Just to get out of here, either that or I could run my mom's phone bill up by calling everyone in my phone's contact list." He said with a grin. That might be nice giving a lot of people he had met a call just to see how they were doing.

Omanyte... The boy thought, losing himself to another daydream. "I never did check to see what they evolve into." Mike said under his breath, rummaging through his things and pulling out his PokéDex. Flipping the device open, he input Omanyte's name in the search query, the data scrolling up onto the screen. "Let's see, Rock and Water dual type..." He read, chucking at the vast dissimilarity to his usual Fire Pokemon it would be, then frowned at the realization of its 4x Grass weakness. Well, that's what Nitro, Felsic and Napalm are for. As he scanned the moves, the boy's eyes widened at the picture of his evolved form. He touched the screen, the Spiral Pokemon's profile loaded. "Omastar." He spoke softly, examining the evolved form intently. "I like the spikes." He said offhandedly. "And the tentacles. The sharp beak is a nice touch too." Curious as to what it was capable of, he looked up its stats. A sharp, impressed whistle shot from the boy's mouth as he eyed Omastar's Defense and Special Attack statistics. That thing can take a hit! The remainder of his stats were not too impressive, but the only below average area was its agility, or lack thereof. No worries. He said to himself. With Offensive powers like that, I won't need speed! Mike snapped his PokéDex shut, his usual grin beaming.

He clued back into the conversation around him. "A Ponyta eh?" Always good to see another Fire type. The boy thought, cracking his knuckles for no particular reason.

The fire fox went barreling along the ground before crashing into a small rock, and jumping to her feet to recover. Her eyes had a deadly shine to them as she turned her gaze over to meet the opponent that struck her.

"Oh-ho-ho, that was a bad idea, you ignoramus."

"Do you honestly think I care?" she replied, a tint of bitterness in her voice.
Ninetales chuckled. "You should. You're going to regret it now."

"Oh, I'm certain that I wi--" Krystal lunged forward at a breakneck speed again, blasting her opponent with a paralysis-inducing Thunderbolt. Unprepared for another attack already, Ninetales had no time to react, and was struck by the Electric-type attack, falling to the ground. Little sparks of electricity emanated from her body, indicating she had been afflicted with the paralysis. Krystal grinned and moved a few feet away from the fox as she watched her get up.

"You have a problem, see. You waste too much time on relentless and unneeded banter that you get distracted from battling. That's a bad vice you've got."

It was true. Unintentionally, instead of attacking, Ninetales would usually send insults back and forth-- except for the case with Gengar. "Gaah!" she yelled, more out of pain than anger. "How dare you strike me down like that, you pathetic--"

Ringu wouldn't hear another word. He scampered toward the fox, his paws th-th-th-THUMPing again; when he was close enough, he snatched Ninetales up in a bear hug, pulling his arms as tightly around her as he could. Managing to move his head to avoid being blasted by a few Flamethrowers, he bent his body backwards and slammed Ninetales' head into the ground in a move similar to that of a suplex. Letting go and standing up, turning around to look at the fox who was attempting to recover, Ringu jumped into the air and slammed his stomach down onto his opponent, resulting in a pained yelp from Ninetales.

Krystal raised her eyebrows, impressed. Seismic Toss and Body Slam, she thought. Looks like they're his two most powerful attacks...
PostPosted: Wed Mar 21, 2007 11:52 am

"Ringu, move it! I'll finish that stupid thing off!" Nodding, the bear backed away from his downed opponent and allowed Krystal to gain access to the Ninetales. She launched forward, Wrapping and coiling her entire body around the fox, tightening her muscles all throughout her body to bind the Pokemon tighter.

Another yelp resulted from this action. Ninetales flailed around violently, trying to free herself from Krystal's grasp, but to really no avail; the fact that she a had a fourteen foot long dragon wrapped around her entire body had naturally restricted her movement.

"You.. you get off of me this instant!" Ninatales hollered, still continuing to writhe in pain.
Obviously, however, Krystal wouldn't. "I would say that this has been an enjoyable battle," she replied, tightening her grip even further, "but then I'd be lying to you. You're an arrogant Pokemon who places herself on a pedestal, and you believe you're in an elite league of your own, when you couldn't be any more wrong-- aah!"

Clearly not wanting to hear what Krystal was saying, Ninetales loosed a Fire Blast on the Pokemon; she had hoped with this attack the dragon would loosen her grip, which would in turn allow Ninetales to escape. She was wrong, however.

After enduring the Fire Blast for maybe five seconds or so --despite the fact that the time frame seemed much longer-- Krystal tightened her Wrap, and generated electrical energy inside of herself. A Thunderbolt soon followed-- however, due to the fact that she had formed a makeshift barrier with her body, the attack was contained upon the fox, and not one jolt of electricity strayed from its destination.

The dragon loosened her grip on her unconscious opponent, and slithered over toward Nina, Whitney, and Ringu.

Nina crossed her arms smirked --almost arrogantly, in fact-- and walked past Ricki and Bobby, to her next set of two trainers.

Misty took Mag's Pokeballs, and placed them in the machine alongside her own trio. After a few moments, the machine beeped, and she took them out, placing hers in her pocket and giving Mag his. She made sure the trainer had his prizes, and grinned. "That was the best match I've had in a while," she told Mag happily. "You're welcome to come back to the Cerulean Gym any time you'd like. Maybe someday we could have a rematch."

The next two trainers that were waiting for Nina were a pair of identical twins; they introduced themselves as Ben and Sam. The pair of them were relatively tall, with short, rugged blonde hair and blue eyes. Ben, it seemed, was a bit less serious than his brother-- he smiled a little, while Sam kept a straight poker face.

"So, without any futher ado," Ben said, unclipping a Pokeball, "I believe that it's time to start." He tossed his Pokeball in sync with Scott; a Farfetch'd and a Dewgong appeared respectively.

Nina set her Clefairy down on the ground, and allowed it to walk forward to enter the battle. She turned her head to look at Whitney a moment later; "So? Ready to do this?" she asked. "Actually," the girl responded, "I think I'm gonna, like, sit this one out. You and Rai can fight together." Unclipping a Pokeball and walking forward, the boy smiled a little. "Is that okay with you, Nina?" The girl made a mocking sound of disgust. "Ugh. No way. Go fall in a river or something." She grinned.

Taking that as a 'yes,' Raimundo threw his Pokeball forward, and releasing Trina. Upon arriving on the field, the Victreebel looked at her opposition, and screamed.

Sam groaned. "Amazing, one of those things. Dewgong, silence it with an Ice Beam!" The sea lion clapped his flippers together a few times, rocking back and forth a little, before blasting a crystalline beam of frozen water at the plant.

"Trina! Don't let yourself get hurt by that attack-- use Cut to chop it into pieces!" The vine that extended out from Trina's head wriggled about for a moment. She waited until the Ice Beam was within reach, and her vine started slashing violently. Before long, the Ice Beam was nothing more than a large quantity of ice cubes on the ground. Trina cackled.

Kasiya toyed with the lightning-shaped pendant around her neck almost anxiously, and she seemed to be spacing out again. After a moment, she snapped out of it, holding up a hand in front of the boys to signal 'one moment'. Turning on a heel, Kasiya sighed, heading in seemingly a random direction. As she walked, she took her PokeNav out of her pocket, the device making small beeps with each button she pressed. Opting to send a new message, the girl smiled as she input the letters one by one. After she was finished, she hit send, grinning as the icon flashed, sending her message:

Dear Nina:
Hey you, how have you been? Things are okay on this end. I just managed to win a Soul Badge from Koga this morning, and I was hoping that we could get together and have that gym match soon. Your Marsh Badge would look rather nice next to my other ones. =) Perhaps afterwards we can just hang out like old times, do some traveling, shopping, and double-teaming other trainers. Well, let me know what you think, and I'll talk to you soon.
~Kassie

Tucking the PokeNav back into her pocket, Kasiya found herself in front of the Goldenrod Department store. She looked up at the massive building, still amazed at how much space it took up. She went inside, pausing to look around once more. It's even larger in here than I remember, she thought, blinking. She wandered around for a while, walking up one flight of stairs, and then taking the elevator to the next. Before long, she found herself on the floor that sold TMs. "Hmm," she mused, wandering around. There wasn't actually anything she wanted at the time, and she sighed loudly, flipping through a rainbow assortment of round discs. "Oh?" she paused, her finger stopping on a reddish/orange one. She stared at it for a moment, a rather impish grin spreading across her face as she picked it up, and carried it over to the counter. "I'd like to buy this, please," she said, placing it on the desk and smiling up at the clerk.

"Is that everything?" he asked, munching on some gum. Kasiya noticed that his nametag read Randall.

"Yep," the girl nodded.

"All righty then, that'll be $3,000."

Kasiya handed over the money, exactly three quarters of her winnings from Koga. "Thanks, Randall," she said, giving a slight wave as she walked towards the stairs, carrying the small parcel in her hands. Exceedingly happy with herself, she exited the department store, looking around for her two friends.

Keegan nodded, and watched her walk off. He leaned up against the Pokemon Center wall, crossing one leg over the other, and silently cursing Dante for smoking in front of him the other day. Ever since he'd witnessed his friend's bad habit, he'd been itching to pick it up again himself, although he'd managed to restrain himself thus far.

Deciding to distract himself, he took Mori's Poke Ball from his belt and began to toss it up and down, already going over in his mind the various routines and ways he could start training the young pony. Even at only a few days old, Ponyta were able to jump rather tall objects, and they spent time training themselves by jumping over fallen logs, tall grasses and just about anything that had some height to it while in the wild. In his mind's eye he could already see the Ponyta smashing her hooves into opponents and blasting them with gratuitous amounts of fire. He closed his eyes and smiled.

"Alright Trina, here's an idea! Use a Swallow and Spit up attack, and aim it at Dewgong, but use that Farfetch'd as ammunition!" Raimundo pointed toward the brown bird, while Trina squealed in excitement-- she had just been told to swallow something, and she wouldn't get into trouble for doing it! She ran --or, hopped rather-- over to the bird, who flailed his leek around violently so as to ward off the plant. His efforts proved to be fruitless, however; Trina overtook him in a matter of moments.

The oversized plant then turned towards Dewgong, and launched the bird out of her mouth like a cannonball from a cannon, and with the speed to match, causing Farfetch'd to smash into his partner's head. The result was one very pained sea lion and a moderately dizzy and traumatized bird; happy with the outcome, Trina hopped back over to her side of the makeshift arena, her vine flailing about happily.

Due to the fact that Farfetch'd was still attempting to recover from his resulting trauma, this gave Serena the chance to attack. "Okay, Serena!" Nina yelled, "Let's go all out! Use a M--"

It was at that moment that Nina's Pokenav jingled, indicating she had received a new text message. She blushed. "Oh... eheh. I'm sorry, this'll just take a moment." She turned around and took out the device, clicking on the new message; the LCD screen brightened up, enabling her to read it better.

"...I managed to win a Soul Badge... get together... gym match... Hang out like old times... shopping, double-teaming..." The girl's face brightened after she read the message quietly to herself. Aww, Kasiya's so sweet. She exited from the message, and typed a new one of her own, her fingers tapping the buttons to input her characters.

Kasiya:
I've been doing really great, actually! Earlier today I finally went back and got that badge from Jasmine I had been trying for-- That was probably the hardest Gym match of mine to date. To add to the good news, I picked up a wicked awesome Clefairy, too! Well, it was mostly thanks to Anna; she chased it down and started battling it all on her own. But, I'm rambling a little. ^_^ Sure, I'd love to have that battle some time! Right now I'm doing battle in Cerulean, but I'll be all finished soon; I'll be sure to send you another message when I am.
Hope to see you soon!
*Nina*

She watched the animated Pidgey take a letter and fly away, signaling her message had been sent, and put the Nav away. She turned back to her battle immediately afterwards.

"Okay, Serena!" she said, as if nothing had happened, "Metronome!"

Dipping his head downward, Ludicolo held his arms out wide. He slid his feet across the sand, almost as if he were gliding across it, then bent his side at an angle. A flurry of clear, green orbs hovered out of the bulb in the center of Ludicolo's sombrero. He straightened himself, then moved his arm into a ninety-degree angle, out stretched it again, then bent it once more. A few more orbs made their descent to Flareon.

The fox braced himself, then jumped backwards. He watched the strange dance that Ludicolo was performing, and then readied himself to dodge the oncoming orbs. When the dance was finished, Flareon had managed to protect himself and avoid all the opposing spheres. He barked happily, then looked at Kilik, who he saw was in deep thought.

Strange dance... he thought with a smile. "Alright! Ludicolo!" he clapped his hands, "When I tell you 'Smooth Moves Style', use a Special Attack just like Giga Drain or Surf, okay?" Ludicolo nodded, beginning his natural sway and bob to his internal beat. Kilik was now realizing that whenever he ordered an attack, the music playing inside of Ludicolo's head changed, like a radio switching to another station. If he could find a way to exploit this change in stations, he would have no trouble connecting with Ludicolo and making sure that the attacks came out the way he wanted. An opponent who is unsure of the attack won't be in a position to effectively dodge it, right?

Waggling her fingers, Serena glared at her opposition. "I hope you both liked the short time you've spent conscious!" she yelled, attempting to be intimidating. Her voice, however, was high-pitched and squeaky, and entirely opposite from anything remotely scary.

She affixed her gaze on Dewgong, as she stopped wiggling her fingers. "Haaaa-ah!" She jumped forward, her arm raised high abover her head, and brought her hand down sharply against Dewgong's neck, performing a powerful Karate Chop.
While a critical hit didn't occur, Dewgong let out a pained bark, flailing a bit to ward Serena away; the supereffective move had hurt.

"Agh... come on, Dewgong!" Sam hollered, "Don't let yourself get beat by that little squirt! Blizzard!" The sea lion responded with an energetic and semi-nasaly Dew-gong-gong-gong! He reared his head back, lunging it forward and spraying a widespread snowstorm at his opposition.

"No! Serena--"
"Trina, watch out!
"Cosmic Pow--"
"Wait, I've got a better idea! Trina, use Sunny Day! Melt the ice before it can reach you both!"

Quickly looking upward to the sky at the sun, Trina opened her mouth and flapped her leaf-like appendages on either side of her body to encourage the sunlight to grow brighter. It did. The rays pounded downward onto the battlefield with such an intensity that it not only melted the Blizzard attack, but it was absorbed into Trina's body, granting her a speed increase due to her Chlorophyll ability. She screamed in happiness.

Train headed back into Pewter. She had her pokemon healed once more, then she walked over to the gym. She stood in front of it's doors for a moment, then slipped inside the door. She closed it quietly behind her, and was relieved that there wasn't another battle going on. She would have hated it if she was interupting a battle.

"Brock?" She called out, searching for the pokemon trainer. She glanced down at the pokeball containine Ratata, and the Pikachu on her shoulder, which was sniffing the air. Pikachu recognized the scent. It could also smell the Graveler that it had met the first time they had been here.

((Arg. Thunder storms so I can't post much. Maybe I'll get on our crappy computer soon if the storm dies down.))

"I'll look foreward to it." Mag said thinking about how he'd probably be forced to use Tsunami and her nice special ability in that battle. "Well thanks for the battle. It was a real blast." Mag replied as the pokeballs were returned to him. He glanced outside to see the deep shade of night. The battle had taken quite a bit of time. "Wow it is pretty late... Guess I better get going so you can move on and what-not." Mag stated. "So I guess I'll see you round then." He replied as the two exchanged pokenav numbers and Mag left the gym.

He went to the Pokemon Center anyway though since it was the nearest place for a free sleep. He slept soundly through the night the previous days battle playing through his head.
