He hid it very well indeed. Or maybe not at all.

I see.

Was Walter's only response. It was quietly spoke, and shortly afterward his face drifted back off to the view. Walter, unless spoken too would say nothing further for the duration of the trip.

Soon any speck of land visible on the horizon was lost, and all that remained was and endless blue black depth spread out below them in all directions. The infinite sea with rays of silver and white cast along it from the moon high in the sky.

It wouldnt be long now, before they were there.

Silver stood there, at the mouth of the cave, for a moment, blinking with that look of annoyed confusion on his face as Athan began to walk away. His stance widened, and he raised his fists over his head in frustration.

"That's it?! Whatever?! Hey, where are you going?! Don't you even..."

Silver let out an exasperated sigh, arms dropping and shoulders slumping. He apparently hadn't heard Rage's complaining or Kael's musings. He straightened back up, scratching at the back of his now hood-free head with a smirk on his face.

Great. All that effort crossing this stupid desert, and he probably doesn't even remember what happened...

As one of the other traveling companions approached from behind, Silver turned to him with a grin on his face.

"Hey, Hell of--"

He stopped mid-sentence and his eyes widened the instant he got a better look the man. That green hair, those scars...

RAGE. But that means... if that other guy is...

Silver slowly turned his head and eyes to the only remaining member of the group. He'd already identified this one some ways out, catching glimpses of his face here and there. He didn't know him well, but they had at least seen one another before...

KAEL. Then that means...

Silver had started this journey knowing for certain that Athan lead it. It was the reason he had signed on, albeit anonymously to keep from alerting anyone of his presence. Not long after they'd set out, he'd learned of Kael's involvement. Encountering the two of them again together so soon was a little more than he had expected, but no big deal. But now, Rage, too?!

"You gotta be kidding me."

The words were spoken quite low, muttered by Silver to himself more than anyone. They might have been easy to miss, but one would have heard them had they been listening.

FRACTURE. He had somehow wound up traveling with the majority of the team that had been his own team's biggest rivals in the most recent Heaven or Hell tournament. Perhaps it was irony or a just cruel twist of fate that none of them were the single member of the team his was looking for. Still...

The smirk returned to Silver's face. He folded one arm under the other, the opposite hand wrapping around his own chin, and shut his eyes in quiet contemplation.

This may have actually worked out better than I could have hoped...

As he stood there, chuckling to himself, however, the other members of the expedition, the real reason they were here, had begun to venture into the cave without him. To make matters worse, Silver could almost feel his skin begin to sizzle in the hot sun, no longer protected under the cowl of the robes he had been given. The direct desert sunlight and his pale complexion just didn't mix. He took off after his companions, finally beginning their spelunking adventure.

"H-Hey! Wait for me!"

((Since Roen and Nox haven't posted to claim the spots...enter my monk. A melee/support character should be fine for any party. Also, my reply is 1337. >.> ))

Only four people stayed as the party diminished in a heartbeat out here in the desert. You couldn't blame them. Who would really want to risk going into an unknown dark cave where the possibility of death was unknown. Only those seeking adventure and death wishes would take risks like that, which may just describe the few that stayed behind to venture forth into the place. But there was a fifth, too, who just happen to now show himself. He had been in the party since the start, but did not find any reason to show himself attention. Maybe his distinguished appearance would make him stand out, and maybe it wouldn't. To him, just listening to the music playing from his headphones was the only thing keeping the walk from being a total bore.

When he was the remaining one, he seemed to stay a few feet behind the group that seemed to have a natural familiarity with one another. Who was he to try to separate that. He'll leave it to them to discover him or not, but until then, he would keep to himself, the voice of a Celtic woman singing into his ears. It was hard to see if he was paying attention or not as his eyes were covered by shades meant both for protecting his eyes from the sun and the sand. Now and again, he would whistle in tune to the peaceful music, as his fingers fiddled with the rosary beads around his left hand and forearm. He didn't say anything, but he was feeling something off about this cave in the desert. Like any monk, the balance was being thrown off. Unnerving, but not a threat.

While it seemed that others were content to remove their robes within the cave to adapt to the temperature, Rage did no such thing.

No sun, plus sweat, plus cold air within the cave. He might as well have been sitting in a freezer compared to everyone else. He did do everyone the service of removing his hood, cracking his neck from one side to the next as he tended to do. In fact, it seemed he had come to the same realization that Silver had - finally taking the time to realize who else was here besides Athan, it was like an almost-team reunion - which was potentially more deadly than the desert and cave combined. "Ugh...."

His face and hair matted down with sweat, he pulled the robes around himself, seeming to actually shiver. "D-d-dammit, I knew I shouldn't have signed up for this...." He briefly considered his usual trick of heating the water enough to create steam, but he was pretty sure nobody wanted him to turn the place into a sweat-scented sauna. Besides, it's not like a little cold air ever hurt anyone.

... except him.

He shifted the pack on his back and foraged on.

Caddure Expedition

As Richard roared ahead of Rasilyn, he chuckled lightly to himself. Her reaction was not quite what he had been expecting, as he was more accustomed to reaction of anger and outrage than fear when he pulled a stunt like that. After all most women either liked it or felt offended, the former usually gave him a playing smack in return while the later smacked the taste out of his mouth. Never before had they ran off in fear, probably because he didn't hang around too many shy women if he could help it, thus this was a totally new experience for him. So new in fact that he had to kept playing it over and over in his mind, getting bigger chuckle out of it each time.

This chuckling abruptly stopped when he saw the path the buzzard had brought them to, a winding path through the mountains filled with narrow ledges and jagged rocks, a path which had neither the space nor surface required for him to continue traveling by bike. From now on he would have to rough it on foot like the rest of his group, a fact he was not happy about in the least. Richard was a biker, a road connoisseur, a urban cyclist and as such his preferred form of transportation was rubber to road. He road everywhere, to the crack house, to the strip club, to grocery store, to the Applebees and even to the restroom. Him and his bikers were so close that some people even accused him of sleeping with them. Therefore every time he had to part with one of his bike, whether it was because of wear or tear or bitches with fireballs, it was a very sad occassion.

So as he turned off to the side and cut off his engine, his happy mood from just moments ago began to fade into the somber melancholy of two soul mates saying farewell. And as he squeezed his metal bat down the back of his shirt and slung his duffel bag over his shoulder, he ran his ran his fingers along the length of his ride with all the gentleness of a lover's caress. And as he turned away keys in hand and began to follow Caddure down the treacherous mountain path, one or two of his mates might catch a few tears glistening down his cheeks as he mourned the fact that he had to leave another one of his babies behind.

And as he worked his way around the mountain, from time to time he would raise his glistening cheeks to the sky as if to say...

"Why lord? Why?"

There had been another among them that Athan hadn't noticed, and with good reason. The creepy monk hadn't said a single word the entire trip. For all Athan knew, the guy was just part of the guide's crew, hired to cart supplies and then leave with the rest of the group. Count him surprised when he turned back while inside the cave, now becoming fully aware of Ruby's presence.

He didn't really respond when he saw the pink-haired man, keeping his surprise masked by a stoic expression. He wasn't going to just kick the guy out for having an unfamiliar face, but he wasn't going to be overly welcoming, either. For a party leader, Athan was almost uncomfortably quiet. To him this was a business trip, not a team-building exercise.

The silence in the cave was hardly any different than that of the desert, but it weighed far more heavily on Athan the deeper they got in. Every successive step without a clue was met with a loss of hope. The darkness wasn't helping matters, either. To his credit, Athan managed to lead the party deep into the cave without falling into one bottomless pit or sharp ravine.

The hammering caught his attention, and Athan came to a sudden halt.

"Well..."

Athan put a hand on the cave wall and turned back towards his crew.

"Anyone have a good reason to not follow that noise?"

"Cave demons, dragons, ghosts, zombies, dragon zombies, cave ghosts, ghost dragons, demon ghosts, and zombie caves, to name a few."

Thwump.

And he walked directly into Athan's back, having not been paying attention to where he was going.

More than likely, the silence following Rage's little list was met with more silence than open mic night at a comedy club, the only sounds keeping him company being the noise that Athan had pointed out and the sound of his own feet stumbling to find solid ground without falling over. All things considered, he had lost track of time and this trudging around aimlessly wasn't getting them anywhere.

He was just glad they hadn't been chased down a corridor by a boulder yet.

"Hey, if it takes us to the princess, I'm all for it. That's what we're here for, rescuing a princess, right?"

Comedy always made up for the fact that one had no idea what was going on. Always.

Kael eyed Rage levely while he rattled off his list of the possible video-game boss-monsters for this cave, rearranging the robes while he walked. It was all wrapped up about his stuff, and it would be useful on the way back, so instead of struggling out of it he was simply peeling it away from his torso and wrapping it about his waist, hanging down around him, parted for his hilt to poke through, like some kind of overlong cloth tasset. Not that a cloth tasset would be a great deal of help. But with that out of the way he tugged down the makeshift mask as the air became cooler and damper, letting the hat hang back behind his head. There was no way to miss who he was now, at least.

"...well. All we got, anyway."

It didn't really seem they had much choice but to go on- it wasn't as if they were in a labyrinth, there was just the path ahead so far. What he was concerned about though, wasn't following a hammering toward monsters, but unstable tunnels.

Because you know what happens if rocks fall.

Upon examination though, things did seem fairly sturdy, at least so far. It was lacking in stalactites and stalagmites, or other natural formations except a few loose stones and leaks where water came in. Considering someone was taking up residence and hammering deeper inside, he supposed it would make sense that the earlier tunnel be secured, but instead of putting in wooden beams someone had simply carved the tunnel out and fixed any imperfections there had been in the stone.

That, at least, seemed mildly strange. Then again, they were out in the middle of a desert pursuing someone from a dream. Strange had entered into it a long time ago. What bothered him was not so much the hammering, as a hum... it wasn't organic sounding, and that meant either electricity, or some kind of magic. And he didn't see lights and cables strung along the walls.

"So let's have a look."

Athan may have been the leader, but Kael stepped right on ahead, setting a leather gloved hand the the wall and marching slowly further in, watching his step and peering ahead as if he could pick out whatever was making the sound out sooner that way.

The monk saw Athan look back at him, matching eyes but only in respect to Ruby's end. As far as the large leader was concerned, the monk was mindlessly letting himself get carried away into his music. But he surely was not that oblivious to the current situation. He could hear their voices as they spoke, as the volume of his headphones were not loud enough to block out anything else. No greeting, no anything. He mentally shrugged the thought off and would pursue them into the cave.

Consequently, he had to remove his shades, as they would only make him blind as a bat within this dark tunnel. Placing them away into a pocket, he finally turned off the music on the headphones so he could pay attention to his surroundings better. But he kept the items on his head to keep the illusion that he was still giving attention to his soundtracks. It was just his way of self amusement and some trickery. Before he made leave from the entrance, however, making sure he can see the light, his right hand placed itself onto the ground in front of him, a dim light-blue color appearing in the shape of some symbol. This was a spiritual marker, which glowed one moment then disappeared the next. What it did would be revealed in time. After this small deed, he continued following them, keeping in his space behind.

Ruby was no elf. He couldn't see anything in this pitch black place. There had to be a way to get some light in here. Then it hit him. He had the necessary method to giving off some light to help him see in the enveloping shadows. Stopping in place, he extends his left arm out and concentrates, causing an fluctuation of spiritual energy to come from his body. A glowing light blue color swarmed off his form, the rosary beads lighting up, acting as channels and enhancers to the concentration. And the sound it gave off could best be described as the typical power up sound.

SHRRROWWW!

And when it all settled down, a single orb of spiritual energy in the shape of a baseball started to float around Ruby's body. Like a pyre or some fairy, light illuminated from it, giving a five foot radius of dim light blue illumination to the area. They could thank him later, he figured, looking off so he wouldn't have to catch their eyes to this event occurring. He was falsely listening to his music, after all, once again going into whistling. He was so sly.

The sound would continue as they approached. However with the new light provided by Ruby everyone would be able to get a little better handle on their surroundings. As Kael had noticed the hallways were indeed free of stalagmites and all those things that are normally in natural caves. In fact the walls went beyond simply hollowed out in some places... Smoothed, though obviously quite some time ago. In fact it looked like someone had gone through the trouble to expose a few carvings. A language that nobody there would be able to speak or read, but perhaps Kael and Athan would find strangely familiar.

The sound was getting louder, the halls were becoming more uniform. More care had been taken to read what they said. This place was becoming less natural and more like some sort of lost ruins. But then there was another sound. A very loud, rhythmic thumping. Walking. Stomping maybe. Tha-thunk. Tha-thunk. Tha-thunk. Clearly something slightly larger. Worse still, something that had taken some other tunnel and now was echoing through the long hall right behind them.

In the distance behind them there was a faint purple glow. In front darkness.

Slowly it would come into focus. It seemed rather cramped in the cave, the almost humanoid silhouette seemed bulkier than normal, save for the part it looked like you could see through it in places. As it got closer it would look as if it was slightly shifting. Tha-thunk. Tha-thunk. Tha-thunk. Closer still, growing larger, obviously made of stone. A golem of sort. Floating rocks tethered together by dark chain, and soft purple energies supporting and animating the figure. It looked more loosely connected than the generic golem, as if without the chain the stones that made up it would fly in all sorts of directions, but without the energy it would fall to a pile of shapeless rocks. Strength wasn't an issue. It was carrying the crates left at the entrance, one over each shoulder.

Tha-thunk. Tha-thunk. Tha...

A stone head noticed something as it continued down the hall, five somethings. Two glowing purple "eyes" looked down on the adventures. It stood there. Ruby would be practically at the things feet how close it stopped. Stark and still behind them.

As Rage walked right into Athan's back, the big man turned and gave the green-haired swordsman a nice cursory glare. It wasn't that he was hurt or anything, but considering the general motif of the place, Athan really didn't want to end up being shoved into a bottomless pit due to the adventurer train piling up behind him.

As he snapped his head forward again, Athan was surprised to see that Kael had not only taken the lead, but started making his way forward without him. Deciding it was better to not alienate his crew any moreso than he already had, Athan stepped in line and caught up to Kael.

By the time he did so, there was a second noise, different from the first and from a different origin, reaching his ears. By the time he figured out where the sound was coming from (echoes made such things tricky, after all), he spun around to find a golem at the rear of his party, practically hovering over the monk who was busy listening to his iPod or...music player of some non-licensed origin.

"Shi-"

On instinct, Athan's hand went to his sword, securing a nice tight grip on the hilt of the massive weapon before he even got a good look at the creature. Halfway into loosing his weapon from the confines of his armor, he froze.

That's...

Cue the flashback
"I do not fear the choice you must make." A man's voice came from the cloak, familiar to some, not to others, "I only wish for you to be capable of making it."

The golem like creature did not seem to take to that. Bursting forward and raising a great arm to crush.

And when that arm went down the sword came up. The figure was pushed back slightly but through some unheard of strength remained standing. Blocking stone with steel, and then pushing it off to one side. This continued, the golem would swing and the man would block, one on the offensive the other on the defensive. The man would circle and strafe, jumping and diving in ways a man even wearing just greaves and gauntlets should not. Until after one failed two handed blow on the golem's part he was able to dive to one side, kick off quickly and then land a slash against the golem's back. The intent watcher would see runes and circles appear around the man's sword just before it hit.

There was no doubt in Athan's mind that if golem was not the same from his 'dream', that they were at least related. And if this golem was here, the man they were searching for was surely nearby as well.

In a rare act of diplomacy, Athan attempted to communicate with the thing before trying to sword it.

"Where is he?!"

Yeah. Real specific.

Ruby's body felt the tremor. His ears heard the thumping noise of something loud and sturdy making its way toward them. The fact that it was growing louder and louder in the direction behind him caused him to change his face some to that of worry, while still maintaining the cool look with his eyes. He turned his head, and would slowly see the monstrosity of rocks coming into visibility. He saw the animation of the rocks within the field of purplish magic, staring at the thing as it towered over him like the golem it was. He was facing it entirely now, hands in his pocket, and trying to stay as much as a badass as possible. Ruby was a guy who didn't want to show much weakness, while also having his laid-back personality keep him from showing too much emotion. In short, he cared somewhat about appearances to other people.

"Aren't you huge," Ruby said as he looked up at the thing. His left hand fidgeted with the beads in his pockets, awaiting for the chance to take action, should the need arise. Though the leader of the group spoke up, making Ruby just stand and wait to see what happens.

There's... something on the walls.

His fingers trailed, through the gloves, over the carvings on the walls as well as the unusually smooth stone. After a moment startling at the sudden sound and light behind him, he went back to distractedly examining them as he walked along, thoughts of tampering with the place becoming more than just a suspicion. In a way, he was mildly appreciative for the mild irritation at the unexpected spell catching him off guard, because it kept him from fully worrying over just how it was that he was fairly sure he hadn't seen runes like these before, and yet they tickled some part of his brain. It was possible he had in fact seen them before, but it was just as likely it wasn't from his memory at all. And even still, the way the other two men's minds mixed just enough with his own discomforted him now and again.

It started to dawn on him rather too late that the rhythmic hammering his mind was following now was growing closer, but not in the right way. Not the way it was supposed to be at all.

He turned his head around as he walked, steps slowly faltering to nothing until he finally spun around. There was definitely something behind them. As it came into clear sight, the only real comfort was a dull thought.

At least we know we're in the right place.

His right hand snapped toward his sword as well, but before he could even grasp it like Athan his arm simply began to fall away. There was no point. Looking at a giant animated creature of stone and magic, he could have gone at it his hardest and the thing wouldn't likely have even noticed him ruining his blade on it's legs. Better not to provoke it if they could avoid it. It had been hostile in the dream, but it didn't seem to show any interest at all in attacking them now. This thing... that's right. Dream. He had seen this before too. And as his fingers drifted unbidden back to the carvings on the wall, a fraction of that dream came back to him.

As the group had entered the cave, Silver pulled off the heavy, itchy cloak issued by their guide, and discarded it inside, not far from the entrance. A bit careless perhaps, as they probably were going to need them again should their adventure take them back out into the desert, sweltering day ore freezing night, and they wouldn't necessarily be leaving the cave the same way they had entered it. Maybe it was the crates that had been left there? Still, these weren't things Silver thought about, or seemed particularly concerned with. He was just happy to be out of the hot sun and in the cool cave.

The cool, wet air of the damp, dark cave was a welcome change of environs. Even being a fire-type and resistant to similar effects, Silver tended to prefer cooler locales to warmer ones. He "ran hot" as it were, after all, and found it easier to warm himself up than cool himself off.

Once the cloaks were off, the others would get the sense that adequately preparing for this sort of adventure or journey wasn't a concept Silver really got. Aside from the extra water he had brought in the form of a small, strawed-equipped barrel around his neck, and what extra rations (read: snacks) he had stuffed in his pockets, the young man was rather casually dressed, sporting a t-shirt, light, loose pants, and sneakers. He didn't carry and visible weapons or tools to speak of, and he certainly didn't wear any sort of armor. He looked more prepared for a day out hanging with friends than he did any sort of incredibly dangerous expedition.

As they began their short trek into the dark, Silver kept himself at about the middle of the group. Whether this was a tactical decision to keep himself protected on all sides, or that he just didn't want to be that far away from any of them should they become lost remained to be seen. As the walked, his gaze shifted about to each party member, front and behind, obviously more concerned about who he was with rather than where they were or where they were going. Besides, Athan had that covered right?

Silver almost brought himself to speak several times, opening his mouth and drawing breath, but in the end remaining silent. The antisocial atmosphere of the group was starting to bother him, and there were things he had wanted to ask each member of Fracture. Probably all on subjects they could have easily guessed. And now he was lucky enough to have encountered them all in one place. But given the circumstances, it probably wasn't a good time. There was stuff he wanted to know, but he also knew when to keep his trap shut. And there was another now... some sort of strange desert monk. Silver's eyes would occasionally shift to glance at him. He was as quiet as the rest of them, but was also leaving weird marks on the floor. Maybe he was with the guide's crew? Regardless, Silver decided to let him be.

The further they got in, the scarcer light got. It was a cave after all, and being unexpected company, it didn't look as if anyone had been kind enough to leave lighted torches to guide their path. Even as the monk came up with his own light trick, almost out of habit, Silver rose his left hand and ignited it, the whole of the appendage becoming enveloped in brilliant platinum flame. It gave off a little heat, sure, but not much more than that of a similar sized torch, and now at least they would probably be able to adequately see with two light sources. Like the monk's, Silver's light would emit in a small radius around the group, casting the walls and floor in a flickering pale white more like a flash light than the orange of a standard torch.

After walking a little further, Silver was almost startled when Athan stopped, and turned to speak to them. Lost in his own thoughts, he hadn't really been paying attention, failing to even notice the steadily growing noises from the cave.

Athan
"Anyone have a good reason to not follow that noise?"

Silver just smirked. He was about to open his mouth with some smart alecky reply when:

Rage
"Cave demons, dragons, ghosts, zombies, dragon zombies, cave ghosts, ghost dragons, demon ghosts, and zombie caves, to name a few... Hey, if it takes us to the princess, I'm all for it. That's what we're here for, rescuing a princess, right?"

"Tch."

A scoff was all Silver could manage as his brow furrowed and one eye began to twitch. Comic relief? Wasn't that his job? Rage was going to steal his bit now, too? The dynamics of this party were going to get real interesting real fast...

As Kael led them on and Athan moved to catch up to him amidst the ever increasing in volume and strangeness sounds, Silver just muttered to himself.

"I was going to say our imminent deaths... not that that would stop guys like us..."

Lost in his own annoyed little world, Silver probably would have been the last of them to realize they had company, only noticing after Athan shouted something, and seeing everyone else had stopped and turned around. As Silver slowly turned to face the same way as the rest of them, his eyes widened. Before them was what appeared to be a large, magically constructed and animated golem. He had never seen one face to face before, and it was actually kind of cool.

His amazement soon turned to alarm, however, when he noticed what it was carrying.

"Hey! "

He struck a dramatic pose and pointed his still burning finger at the creature, the silvery flames whipping about in the darkness and shifting the shadows around them.

"That thing's got our crates!"

Of course, what did that really mean? The guide had left the crates at the entrance, right? Was the thing sent to help them, or was it stealing them? Silver had really just hoped someone else knew after he pointed it out. Still, it seemed no one else felt the need to jump right into the action and attack the creature yet, so he, too, just stood his ground.

Caddure Expedition

Arberus
The shriek caught him by surprise, and his head popped up, watching the girl as she immediately spun about and took cover behind him as the man on the bike zipped away. His steps petered to a halt, glancing back and forth as his mouth worked for a moment, completely lost for an appropriate response to this particular situation.

Her shocking reaction to the probably more playfully friendly than intrusive, act of "gratitude" lasted only a brief moment in time and her youthful features scrunched into an expression of mild annoyance as blue eyes peered up and over Rivven's shoulder at the other man simply waiting for him to gain enough distance for her personal liking.

Of course, it was nothing more than that before Rasilyn finally stepped back from the mage she'd been using as her cover, who, had stopped in his own steps to accommodate her.

Arberus
"You are... unharmed?"

It felt lacking, but it was civil and, well, it was the important thing, was it not? This was difficult, and after a moment he realized that they were falling behind the vulture's course as it was. Hard to suggest they go on, but... if she was alright, then there was need to continue, though he would try to quietly place himself between her and the offender.

The question, even if sheltering a bit of uncertainty expressed to her honest concern and she was grateful for his minding of her. Rasilyn nodded her head quickly to insist she was in fact perfectly fine, just startled, if not a little bit embarrassed but it hardly showed.

If she dawdled any further they would end up falling behind and it had been her that lent her talents to aiding the traveling party to begin with, it wouldn't be right to just linger in the background and let them figure out how to proceed, not that even she really knew and simply followed lead of their avian guide, something she knew how to do fairly well.

All was well again and Rasilyn took the silent assumption that once he saw she was fine, they would both be able to continue.

As they did until Caddure's voice broke the silence again

Quote:
"Oh... good news." He paused for a second to take a deep breathe and swallow some spit to ease a parched throat, "Theres a way across."

The words "way across" gave her pause, the Seer stopped moving long enough to look up and take in the sights before them, this so called way across. Where she had been expecting a break in the gaping wide chasm to allow them passage to the other side safely and simply, there lay ahead something far different and equally displeasing.

It was a path alright, but her eyes widened considerably after getting a good look at it, even from this distance away.

"Oh." Was all she had to say in response, hesitance very plainly obvious by her body language alone.

Surely there had to be some other way across, and the real path was just a bit further down...and so she looked to Caddure and to Rivven for confirmation, only to see their guide slowly and steadily making his way down the first slope. Pale as she was already, Rasilyn's complexion only seemed to lighten that much more at the very sight of the gaping and likely never ending drop off. Watching a few bits of rock and stone crack and crumble falling into the treacherous pit at her feet caused the blonde to draw back quickly away from the edge, quite uncertain of the path on which they'd be traveling.

She knew she had to continue moving, and had to follow or be left behind with no way to fend for herself but it was a reasonable fear and caution and perhaps with some reassurance and coaxing she would be fine...
