...If only for the moment. The store is finally (thank the Gods) settled down, not that the customers are any less crabby. Did you really expect a toy store to be fully stocked the day after Christmas with all the crap you couldn't find Christmas Eve? Seriously?
So far it looks like closing shifts for awhile, which means late night interwebz surfing which means more Gaia. I missed you guys.
As for the Christmas gift haul? I got me a new car!
...Turned out to be a Hot Wheel car. Damn you, Momma, you crazy old bat and your sick sense of humor. God bless ya.
My second favorite gifts were my Moo-ing alarm clock, my ceramic cow bank (complete with cow bell) and my Eeyore hoodie.
My favorite (albeit a bit late) gift? My Christmas gift to me:

I love me so much. I can't believe I went so far just to make me happy. I am just too damn awesome.
Gotta love that it was the very last 60 Gig in the store, that it was only returned on a whim because the guy bought the wrong system altogether, and that it was being held in the back for over a month until this day.
It was simply meant to be. heart

Brig is back and all is right with the world. heart
Well, almost...
Brother's Christmas party complete with hiss white trash in-laws. That egg nog was a freakin' ham sandwich in a cup and I'm damn certain it was flamible. Got to see my brother's sister-in-law. Not quite 40 but such a proud Grandmother.
On to work, and me really not getting the trend of painting entire rooms in accent colors. Last winter I painted a kitchen Berry Blue, which looked like I smeared blueberries all over the walls. Had to go over everything with a tinted primer first. This time I'm painting rooms in a color not unlike a freshly laid turd. Makes the damned place look like a cave.
And finally the cautionary tale of the season.
I've worked for the same family almost my entire adult life. During this I've accumulated a bunch of skills, scars and stories. I've met a bunch of very colorful people. Two of them are Jason and Wes. Jason is the youngest son of my former boss. I work for one of the other sons. Wes is an old friend of Jason's, and I worked with both of them for years.
Wes doesn't work anymore. His father died of cancer, and left him a lot of land. Wes sold most of it, but kept a small part with a house on it. So he's got enough money to live on and a paid for house. This leaves him with nothing to do but drink and smoke weed. So yeah, he's useless. Well he decided he wanted to start drinking in bars. So the week before Christmas he goes out and gets tanked. He spends a good oprtion of his night sleeping in his car and decides to try driving home at around 4:30 in the morning. The roads around here are not forgiving. They had to pull him and his car out of a tree. Yes, I do mean the whole works was off the ground. Wes is in the hospital with a punctured lung and bunch of broken ribs. He's an idiot.
And here's where it gets even stupider.
Jason should have been in jail a long time ago. Four DUIs which lawyers got knocked down to wreckless driving. He's on serious probation. If his father had his way, he'd have let the moron go to jail to get him off the street before he kills someone, but his mother insisted on protecting the boy. So, he's only allowed to drive for work purposes, and his father employs him.
So, he goes to visit Wes in the hospital. He wasn't supposed to drive there, but it is his best friend. So after his visit to his friend who damn near gets himself killed driving drunk, Jason leaves the hospital and ties one on. He's so drunk he doesn't notice the red light, or the cars stopped at it. He totalled the truck he was driving, and two cars in front of him. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured. To make matters worse he was driving one of his father's work trucks, so if Jason doesn't have his insurence straight it all goes back on his dad. That happens and the business that his father spent decades building will be destroyed.
So a guy who I grew up with and consider family is in jail, looking at at least three to five years. I love him like a brother, but I pray he does every last day of his sentence.
Lesson is this: the holiday season is still on, so be careful out there, and if you are going to drink, be responsible, don't drive.

Sorry to hear that, Jaeger. It's incredible how one decision can ruin so much. Hopefully his insurance is good enough.
I wish I had something cheerful from my life to add, but I don't. I just broke up with my first girlfriend ever two days ago. I really wish things could have been different and I wish I could stay with her, but I cannot go back. What's done is done.
