I would go with some more fire warriors, a broadside, or a second sniper team when they come out. The fire warriors would help your current units live longer, and add some fire power. Broadsides are nice when you have a hammerhead also, cause if your going tank hunting, i've noticed that hammerheads will draw the most fire first, not the broadside. If you give the broadside an advanced stabilisation system, upgrade him to shas'vre, and give him shield drones. Since your looking for 75 points, the sniper team would be a good choice, cause its close that. I would reccomend keeping the burst cannons on the hammerhead, cause you get two more shots, and with a target lock, you could shoot at two different units with em.

I was thinking of the fire-magnet sundrome myself yesterday when creating this list. Just now I built the Hammerhead and I am overjoyed with the ability of it being able to swap weapons with such ease, making the Ion Cannon a viable (And cheaper) option. I'll give it a try with burst cannons then and a target lock.

I've managed to dig up three more Fire Warriors, which can easily be assimilated into the two squads, giving the rifle squad eight members and the carbine squad seven members. That will have to do for now. I've also been pondering on upgrading one of the Kroot into a Shaper. Not for the armour save, but for the extra punch in a scrap.

I'll ponder on this, thanks for the feedback.

for extra punch in the kroot squad your better off on a couple of hounds, there cheaper and a higher inative and for the same points you can get more attacks

I saw the question somewhere around here, for those to whom it concerns, the stealth sprue contains the following:

Enough parts for three (3) stealth suits with four (4) different visor options, three (3) burst cannons and a single fusion blaster. It also contains a markerlight drone, drone controller, target lock system and a beacon of sorts that can be mounted on a normal slotta base.

While the suits may look ungainly, or even awkward on the sprue, once properly assembled it looks great alright. I mounted the Shas'Vre on a 40mm base, making him look more imposing. Not much of a stealth suit in my opinion, but it'll do.

Might as well go down the list of other new things.

The Vespid are in three parts: Body, head and wings. True to GW tradition, they need a crapload of cleaning before being anywhere near to paint ready. This goes for most of the pewter parts actually, covered in flash and grimy "dust" which requires you to thoroughly wash the parts after removing the flash. (Strange enough, the only mini almost devoid of flash was the limited edition Ethereal.) The Vespid may need some trimming when putting them on a base, as they don't exactly fit on a standard 28mm base straight away, keep greenstuff handy just in case. I decided to mount the Strainleader on a 40mm base as well, seeing as this model is somewhat bigger then the other Vespid. Mounting (large) leader units on a somewhat larger base helps set them out, not to mention making them more imposing sometimes.

The Commander kit contains two new weapons, two head variants and two special issue battle suit upgrades. Other then that, it's a normal crisis suit kit, minus decals. Most of the parts have found themselves installed onto the commander and his two bodyguards.

The Sniper Drone team needed a lot of cleaning, but looks great. I've decided against assembling this unit until it is fully painted, otherwise some spots would be a bit too hard to reach.

Also, I'd say that the Tau are way ahead of other races when it comes to skimmers, seeing as they are the only ones outfitting them with landing gear. Take that, pointy eared snobs, at least we can land our tanks!

Well, I'd seriously consider getting some Broadsides if I were you guys. I just played in a tournament where the organizer allowed people to use the Taros Campaign point costs and upgrades since we all know what they do already. Move and fire Broadsides are ridiculously useful, and let you execute one of my favorite tactics even better than usual. Character sniping. If our opponent puts his tooled up biker lord or whatever multi-wound IC out there, see if you can't maneuver the Broadsides so that due to intervening terrain, all they can see is the IC, allowing them to blow him away. I enjoy my moving Broadsides immensely, though at a unit cost of 250 before any drones, they can be an expensive proposition.

Anybody heard weather or not they are gonna scrap the kroot merc list?
PostPosted: Wed Mar 01, 2006 7:55 pm

I dont know if they are, or arent, but to ask me, i really think a straight kroot army is pointless. If you want a Straight kroot army, then maybe you should highly look into an Ork army first...

why with orks do you get the possabilty of average BS and avarage combat capabilties. the two armies work very differntly, kroot armies arnt just a horde to rush at the enemy, they are alot more ellite than orks, its like saying 'i dont know why anyone would take marines just use gaurd'

They can't "get rid" of the kroot merc list. Its part of chapter approved, so it sticks around. What would give the impression that they could, or would, want to get rid of it?

Just because a bunch of nerfs[sic] say that the list sucks or has no purpose does not mean that all of the sudden it should be removed. Kroot merc lists have proven to be effective, if not fun to field. Though I think that the latter is not something all people have when playing I guess.

here is my idea for a tau kill team tell me whta you think, it breaks 2 mutable rules i think. 1 shas'vre steath suit with drone controller and 2 gun drones and 8 gun drones. i liked the idea of the ecsentric stealth leader and a bunch of my favoirit gun drones....its 158 points. what do you all think

Indeed, their release is stated as "somewhere around Summer" in the UK WD. Only way to get is either the army deal or the new battle force. I love my new stealth suits. pirate
