Shinobi_8745 As said, depends on how much money you do have, and of course your gaming-style. :B Going for a specific clan? Your own clan? A tribe? A kult? There's many thing you need to ask yourself before choosing. :3 A cult of orks with as many "kustum" things as possible. I.E., looted leman russes, random plasticard peices on things, etc. I like meks... "Dey's Guud Kustumizzerz". Sorry, I have a tendancy to write orkish style... =D

Go for a mainly Dakka army, preferrable Deffskull or Bad Moons, fits quite perfectly under the kostum-part. Using Flash Gitz to get your geared nobz and lootas for that kostumized part, using burnas as well as a salvage-team to get more parts for them boyz, using a big mek as well. Anyways, if you can get your hands on it, get the Kostum Force Field Big Mek, otherwise I'd suggest getting more boyz perhaps? (footslogger lists ftw). Start off by making a 500 points list which you can play till you've got your boyz proppa anyways, ask around where you live if there's someone willing to sell their boyz as well, just paintstrip them and make them your own. ;3

Oh, and just two questions.... #1: Is the Kustom force feild big mek the one with the big thingamajig on his back, and #2: It sure sounds stupid coming from someone who is about to play orks, but what is Dakka?

1: Yes, it's that model. :B
2: Dakka is simply shooty.
Dakka is an ork word for: Attack, shoot, gunfire, noisy weapon. (Derived from the sound of automatic gunfire)
What equipment does the boyz you got assembled have? Is it old boyz or from the new pack?

Actually, I bought some black orks from Warhammer Fantasy to use, since they look so darn spiffy. My games-workshop says I am allowed to use them because they are the same size. Thanks for info. Maybe, since I have 20 orks already, I should buy the Mek and some Lootas to start. Could the Big mek, 20 Orks, and 5 Lootas equal 500 points?

Get a codex first, so you can do the math yourself, NO excuses. If you already have a codex, read it.

regular Ork Boyz cost *purge* per model Big mek without any upgrades is *purge* Lootaz are *purge* points each
Just grab a Calculator if you're lost...
If you have black orcs from fantasy, Then you can use them as Ard boyz, as that's what they generally look like, Just switch one of their arms with a Slugga arm and you're good...

Black orcs are no good 40K orks unless you make them snakebite-y or remove ALL the chainmail and swap the legs... D;

D; Actually, I think black orks make brilliant 'ard boys, or some of the other heavier ork untis. Just mix 'em up with some 40k Ork bitz... But then, I just like the new black ork kits, sheer brilliance.

I can't really agree, they look too fantasy-y, no proppa future look in them. They CAN be modified, but it means you need to file off the chainmail (orks + chainmail = not 40K, ask any ork player on the-waaagh xD) and GS some new belts on their back and swapping the legs.
But the black orcs are too big to be used as 'ard boyz, since they're about the size of a Nob.
And just "mixing" them up with ork stuff gives them a "glued on" look alltogether. The main problem is what I mentioned earlier, legs and chainmail, snakebites rarely even use it, not to mention feral ork.
I tried out this when the Blorcs were first released in plastics, and it's not really a proppa sight... D:
I can say that I've seen SOME proppa conversions with the black orcs, but it included wires, cybork parts and LOTS of reposing to make them fit into the 40K universe.

Okay newbie, I'll tell you this only once, DO NOT hand out point values when people ask for them. It says so in the guild rules, so please don't. People must get the codex and not have others type it up for them.
