Merc looks down at himself. "You're embarrased to be seen with me? IS that it?" he tries to fight it but he can't keep the hurt from seeping into his voice.

Whatever slightly psychicness it seemed like they had when they were discussing other things seems to have failed right when Sethos would have liked most for it to work.
"No, that's not what I mean! That's not what I meant at all!" Sethos barely keeps his voice lower than a yell, standing up as he does so. He also looks at the catboy in the process, which causes him to blush slightly, despite how much he really wishes he wouldn't. Mercutio looks so hurt from his comment that he just wants to.. to hug the boy. He slumps back down in his seat, rather hoping to not cause more of a scene than he probably all ready has. Almost whispering, and looking away from merc again, he admits, "You look damn good dressed like that."

Merc is taken aback by this comment, and just stares at the other man. He'd thought he was straight, then taken and now Merc isn;t sure what to think. He decides to shrug it off, to try and make Seth a little more comfortable. "That's all? Well that's ok Seth." he says. "I'm actually more dressed than most cat people I know, but I suppose you've never met any of us before really." He smiles gently. "If it'll make you feel better, I can go change."

"I don't want you to change, I'm not going to ask you to do something like that, and I don't want you to do it because of me. And I'll take your word for it, the only cat people I've met were tennis players, and there's dress codes for matches." he doesn't want to admit the reason why the fact that he thought Merc looked damn good was bothering, which is because he's staring to want to DO something to this man who's his friend
And sethos doesn't have any friends. Not to mention that it took a lot to get him to convince that he isn't entirely straight... but he's pretty close, only very few men have made him feel like he isn't... and why did his new friend have to be one of those few men.

"But I'd rather it not bother you, and if that means changing, then I will. I'm sorry Seth..." he says.

"It's all right, really." Sethos says, relieved as the waitress arrives with their food at that moment.

Mercutio waits for the waitress to leave and then says, "As long as youre sure." He places the plate of calamari between the two of them, and actually takes a sip of his milk, instead of lapping at it. He'd forgotten the normal human reactions to that sort of thing.

Sethos doesn't dig into his food right away, calming himself down first, and taking a sip of his orange juice first. When he does eat the food, even though it's practically his favourite, he barely tastes it since he's too busy worrying about the situation, which had turned very very awkward. And seth feels horrible.

merc doen't know what to do the alleviate the situation, he just eats his food slowly, so as to not be finished long before Sethos. He drinks his milk, trying desperately to think of something to talk about. He can't seem to think of anything that doesn't seem forced though. He thinks harder... maybe if he can get seth onto a subject that he knows, he can get the other man to talk to him again. "When's your first match?" asks Merc.

Sethos is actually surprised by the question.. mostly because by that point it is surprising to have either of them say anything, He answers, slightly woodenly, "The first day, so a week yesterday. In the afternoon, scheduelled to start at one, assuming there are no rain delays, or whatever."

MErc nods, trying to be interested. "And you have a good chance at winning it? That's what it sounded like at the party..."

"Well, it's against another unseeded person. The last open I was at, I got stuck playing the second seed, that is, the person second most likely to win the whole thing. I think I've got a very good chance though, especially since the guy I'm playing isn't good at moving on clay." Sethos feels like kicking himself. He knows merc doesn't really care about this s**t, or understand it, but he couldn't think of a better conversation topic.

"Sure, I'll get you tickets. It's a prelim match, so it shouldn't be hard to manage." Sethos is slightly relieved that Mercutio is willing to make plans to see each other again in the future, after how bad the evening's been going. Just as Seth turns back to his food, 'Key of Life' rings out again and he picks up his cellphone. When he sees who it is, he rolls his eyes slightly then answers it, "What is it, Sasha?"

Merc suppreses laughter when he sees the look of pain cross Seth's face. He remembers back when he was at home, having a similar situation with one of his sister's close friends.
