Dari just chuckled. "Thank you for your concern, but I assure you it is safe for me."
Toby twisted the end of the piping bag to gather the frosting at the bottom and began to apply pressure as he spoke.
"So you don't have to squeeze very hard. The slower you move, the wider the line, so just apply nice even pressure. Then you start on the outside... and swirl your way in." He performed the swirl, and when he made it to the top he demonstrated: "and release the pressure and pull it up. And there you go." He smiled to Maia. "Your turn." He offered the bag out to her, still holding it by the end so it didn't burst open on her.

Maia shook her head at Dari. She gave him a stern expression. "Don't do it again," She repeated. "You could get hurt." What If one day, it wasn't safe? Or something too hot came out of the oven?
She watched Toby attentively, though. When he offered her the bag She took it and started mimicking what he'd done. Her movements were shaker than his, though, and the frosting reflected it. The selkie didn't seem to mind, and once finished with her first, quickly started on another.

Dari was a little more hesitant to jump right in. He watched Maia complete a swirl and grinned, leaning over to do his own. Half would be a dozen, but who knew how far Maia may go? He decided she wouldn't care how many he did and began. He laughed at a lopsided spiral and shook his head.
Toby just smiled, glad to see his friends having fun. The cupcakes may not be the prettiest but they were made with love, that was for sure.

Maia finished her tray, beaming. Each row improved slightly upon the first, her hands grew steadier. Still, they weren't the work of a master. Not even close, but the selkie was pleased with them. She put sprinkles on each and then offered the sprinkles jar to Dari.
"Toby's turn next batch!" she announced.

"I don't have to do any if you guys like it," Toby replied. Dari offered him the sprinkles after a short while, though, and he dashed one cupcake with sprinkles before handing it back. He brushed his hands on his pants then and surveyed the kitchen. Yeah, this had been a good idea.
Monday was not a day anyone enjoyed. It was always hard to come back to work after two days off. Even the weekend staff had to do it. Their Mondays were just not on Monday.
It was a little awkward to wander into work with tinfoil-covered trays that not everyone could partake in, but soon enough they were in Research and preparing to pass them out. Toby thought that Lori would know what to do and where to put them, but he turned to Maia as they entered.
"Where to, boss?"

"Lets put them on that table," Maia pointed. It was perhaps the fact that she didn't work there that she didn't mind bringing cupcakes in; no one approached them concerning them, at any rate. "Then I'll go find Lori and give him and Seamus one." Once they set them on the table the selkie excitedly opened up the tinfoil and took two (she carefully selected two she'd made) and carried them towards Lori's office.
"Lori look, I brought you a cupcake! And Seamus, too!"

Lori perked when he heard someone enter his office. He kept his door open for better availability and perceived equality with staff, so people usually did wander in. They were not usually Maia.
"Hey!" he said with a grin, then eyed the cupcakes. Aww, that was sweet. "Thank you! Did you make them?" He reached out for it and then looked around the room. Seamus was absent.
Toby laid his tray down on the table and watched Maia run off. He laughed and then raised his arms up. Toby-style interruptions were a fairly common occurrence here.
"FRIENDS! BEGRUDGING COWORKERS!" he shouted, "WE COME BEARING CUPCAKES!" There were confused murmurings and the sound of rolling chairs, and then people began to emerge from their not-quite-cubicles to find said treats.
Seamus was one of the ones to come, head lifted to sniff the air.
"She has yours," Toby said, pointing off toward Lori's office. Seamus stopped and stared at him. "Yes, you." Seamus gave his happy-sound and jogged off to find Maia. When he spotted her, he pressed himself against her leg and meowed loudly.
"Oh, there he is."

"Toby and I did," Maia beamed at Lori. "I picked out the sprinkles, too," she said. She looked around for Seamus hopefully. He didn't seem to be in Lori's office. He soon found her, though, and she bent down when he meowed at her. "I made you a cupcake, Seamus," she said, putting it on the floor for him.
"Toby's so loud," she said, looking back towards him.

"Oh, nice." Lori peeled back the paper cup and took his first bite of cupcake. He gave a pleased hum that might have otherwise been words and waited to swallow before speaking. "That's really good. Good sprinkles choice too."
Seamus lunged at the cupcake on the floor, entirely ignorant to the look Lori briefly sent his way. He attacked the frosting first, licking it ferociously as if someone may take it away at any moment. He was purring on and off.
Lori chuckled at the comment on Toby and nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, he is." He took another bite.

"You like it? Next week we're making cookies for all the agents. You'll get one then too. And no one can complain if I give one to Seamus. He's my favorite in all the departments." She reached out to pet Seamus.
"He likes it, Lori."

Lori just laughed again. "I'm sure he's flattered," he said. He balled up the wrapper and tossed it into the nearest trash can. "Of course he likes it, they're good cupcakes!" Also, Seamus apparently liked the office plants for tasting on occasion so he couldn't be very hard to impress.
The angle became awkward for the cat sidhe and he began to chew sideways, throwing his tongue out when he got paper. Lori crouched and reached out for his cupcake and Seamus grew aggressive, ears flat back, hissing, smacking Lori's hand repeatedly. Lori just unwrapped the cake and put it back on the floor. Seamus relented, giving the agent one last sideways glance.
"Well thank you, Maia. That was awesome."

Seamus even got mad at Lori? Maia was surprised. "You can't eat paper, Seamus, it's bad for you," she informed the cat sidhe, stroking his back when j he calmed down. She didn't want to be on the receiving end of Seamus' anger. She looked up at Lori. "Toby says he can do all sorts of tricks. When we take a break during lessons, can you show me?"

Lori almost said 'we can do it now' but looked down at Seamus gnawing his cupcake and thought, no, he wouldn't do anything that was asked of him right now. "Sure. I don't see why not," he replied with a smile.
Seamus ignored the insistence that paper was bad for him, although he did avoid it now, and continued eating his cupcake. When he'd had enough but was not quite finished he reached out for Maia with a paw, squinting.

Maia gave Lori a bright smile. "Great! I was hoping you'd agree," she said. "I was reading with Toby last night and I've gotten better. Soon as I can read properly, I'll bring all sorts of stuff made from recipes. I love cooking."
She noticed Seamus and petted him happily. "You know, cupcakes are probably bad for you too. Will you come to lessons with me?"

"Of course, any time," Lori nodded. He spent a great deal of time with Maia, even if it was all at work. He was fond of her, admittedly. Her mannerisms had made her pretty popular with staff as a whole, though. Everyone missed new entities when they moved on. "Oh, they are, and he knows it. Doesn't stop him."
Seamus stretched out his claws and brought them back every so gently, never breaking skin. He didn't really want to come to lessons, but she had brought a cupcake. He gave an affirmative trill.
Lori went down and picked up the rest of the cupcake, addressing Seamus then. "I'll keep it in here, you can finish it later."
Seamus squinted up at Lori and purred loudly. Yes, he approved.
