Beautiful and dangerous, but it seemed worth the danger to slowly navigate the remains of the Blue Rose. It was dark and grey, but the echo of some former glory was there. She wondered if that was how she looked, was she an echo of former glory? Would she ever be glorious again? Had she ever been glorious? How long could she keep control? She sighed softly, so many questions and no answers.
She moved forward and felt herself shiver as things seemed to sway and the ground cracked and creaked under her feet. Her arms remained tightly bound across her chest protecting her heart. She blinked at the shadows and she could have sworn they blinked back.
She moved to try and climb over some haphazard wooden planks and frowned, she couldn't manage unless she let herself go. She was stuck and the wood scraped against her uncomfortably.

She wriggled free of the wooden planks and moved slowly onward her eyes examining everything. It was as if this place had once been a beautiful living thing and now only a skeleton remained. The skeleton was still beautiful in it's own macabre way though. She slowly started to loosen her grip on herself until finally her arms unwound from her chest and she reached out to shove some bookshelves from her path.
"Ouch!" She gave a little gasp as long fine splinters slipped into her flesh.

Carefully Nerrisa worked with her nails as substitute tweezers trying to slip the wooden slivers from her hands. Her palms ached and throbbed as she worked each fine piece of wood free. Finally she finished and with a little sigh walked out of the hallway. She would have to remember that as beautiful as this exploration was it could be dangerous.
The subtle stinging in her palms would serve as a reminder enough she hoped. She walked along curious but her hands were held neatly folded in front of her.

Nerrisa walked into the bedrooms and gazed about questions filling her as she walked a slow circle.
Who's rooms were these?
Where were they now?
What rich color had this carpet been?
Had love been shared here? Passion? Pain?
What was that?
She blinked and frowned as darkness seemed to seep in and she hurried to leave the room. Yet the way was barred to her she kicked aside an old wooden chair that fell and scraped her leg. More furnishings seemed to tumble into her path and the darkness seemed to float into near solidity before her.

She felt her feet tangle in the carpet, hadn't she just been admiring it and wondering what color it had been? Now she carelessly shredded past it needing freedom. It tore at her to have to destroy the rooms beauty as time had already taken it's toll on it, but there was something that wanted to keep her here and she needed to get out.

She snapped through wood and tore her way through almost to the doorway but the darkness was thicker now. There was a strong scent in the air a musty perfume that tried to lure her to stay. She wanted to hug herself again, to protect her heart and curl up around it's pale yellow light. It was so hard to resist that urge, her palms gave a throb the reminder of painful splinters, she was sure there were some in her legs to match.

The darkness filled her vision and for a moment all she felt was the battering pain of rough wood scraping against her. It left her raw and pained the sensations stealing her breath. She couldn't lash out, she couldn't fight her way towards the door so close yet so far.

She snapped out of it, no she couldn't just stand here and let herself be battered. She had control, she could move, she had to protect herself, protect her heart. She shoved aside the last of the debris ignoring the pain that shot up her legs as wood battered her. She stumbled out of the doorway with a soft gasp.
Even though it hurt, she glanced back sadly, so beautiful, so dangerous.

Slowly Nerrisa walked away from the bedroom and into another room. This room like the others was a beautiful echo of onetime glory, she circled the room slowly and smiled. Her fingers gently caressed over the brass fixtures, gold once maybe?
How could anyone let all of this decay?
Who would create such beauty and let it wither?
She sighed and turned moving to try and exit the parlor only to find it locked. She blinked and then examined the key, oh a musical key! She walked over to the pianoforte and touched it lightly. Hmm, perhaps she ought to give it a try.
She touched the keys testing and cringed, not exactly a tune more a pitiful stroke of mismatched keys.

Hmm, Nerrisa frowned and leaned over the pianoforte again trying again, but she cringed at the very non-musical noise that came. She wiggled her fingers lightly and sighed.

She slowly examined the keys she had already touched trying to remember the sounds she had made and trying to figure out how to string them into a tune.

She stroked the keys again and found the sound a bit more tolerable. It wasn't musical though and so she brushed the dust from her fingertips and prepared to try again.

She played another little set and frowned at the wretched noise it made. Hmmm, that wasn't music at all she tapped at the keys and frowned, now she was starting to worry. What if she couldn't figure this out? Would she be trapped here forever?
