Susan Chang

As Susan was looking at the male, another came over. Wow, Izzy seemed to know both of them. Susan smiled at the other who came over. Then all of a sudden Izzy and Susan were being pushed by.. Edward? Susan followed after Izzy and laughed at her remark about the boys.

So maybe he wasn't able to meet up with Angela at the appointed time. Tarik had no idea what happened, but something just got in the way. However, excuses were for wimpy men. Tarik will take responsibility for his failure to appear and the consequence because that is how a man would take it.

Although... to actually... apologize and to say he was wrong. It would hurt his pride for sure. But he was a man and he would do it. But later, he would have to go find someone who was easy to impress so he could be praised later or something. Tarik had been looking around for Angela so he could apologize for...................................... his mistake, but he had no idea where to find her. It was impossible to magically appear where a person was at and coincidentally know they were there. That would be stalkerness and creepy to the most intense level and Tarik just shivered at the thought of a person being so... creepy.

So, he waited at her favorite tree. He would wait at that tree for eternity if he had to. Well, not at nights because he had to rest in his dorm and not during his job because he had work to do, but during his free time, he will wait for eternity... only on his free time. Loiter. Loiter.

Angela ran straight for the one place she nearly always hid. Her tree. She was nearly there before she saw Tarik there and though she always turned tail and ran elsewhere, Angela did something she...pretty much never thought she would. She ran straight to him and grabbed a hold of him, burying her face against his shirt because she felt like she was going to pass out and needed the physical support. And he was softer than the tree.

Marginally. Ugh. Her vision was swimming and her chest felt like it was going to explode. Trying to catch her breath, she just clung to him for a long moment.

"Tarik..." she said when she found her voice again. "What...are you doing here?"

Tarik was baffled when she suddenly hugged him. Was it the new cologne he was using? Well, he's buying that cologne from now own. It really works! Well... he would rather not having it work because that would mean women all over the place would be glomping him and he did not like that idea. Well, Tarik will just relish and forever remember this rare moment. What a nice way to start a reading lesson. Tarik held Angela since it would be rude to just ignore her sudden affection and just stand there. Just... going to follow the flow for now.

Then suddenly she asked him what he was doing here. "Oh... ahem... ah... well, I came here... as promised. However, it's a few days late. Er... and I mostly wanted to... uh... say...." Tarik took a deep breath. He was a man. He will take responsibility for his actions. "I just wanted to say that I... that... I... am... that..." Tarik coughed. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry. It was............... my mistake and............... my fault that I didn't show up and I sincerely feel guilty about it." These words were painful to say. "You were trying to help me after all. And uh... I will accept my due punishment."

Angela pulled away, letting go of Tarik--whoops, heading for the ground. She latched back onto him when her knees started to give out. Whoa, dizzy. "Ah, that's okay," she told him wearily. "I mean, sure, I sat out here waiting for you the entire period but I figured you got caught up with work and all that so it's fine."

She laughed slightly, wincing at the same time. "I'm not going to punish you," she said. "What, did you think I was going to tie you up and beat you with something? Well, even if you deserve it--a little--I'm under doctor's orders not to exert myself so I'm afraid you will just have to go without punishment today."

Hmm. Was he wearing new cologne? It was kind of nice. If you ignored the faint musty smell under it. She hoped Tarik wasn't getting too weirded out by the hug because she was fairly certain if she let go, she was going to fall.

Okay. She was falling. Was she literally falling for his charms? No, that was actually kind of bad. Well, Tarik knew something was a bit off with a hug for a greeting and she didn't seem to be able to hold herself up and she mentioned a doctor so... it was probably a health issue. So the first thing that came to Tarik's mind was to get her to sit.

"Right, then we can sit down. I brought some books in case you were still up for helping me out." Tarik said as he helped Angela sit down so she was leaning on the tree. He settled down beside her. She could always lean on him too. He wouldn't mind.

"What? You are not upset? I broke my word. It was a terrible thing to do. I would be upset if I broke my own word. Well, I was upset, but-- Erm... never mind. Your forgiveness has made me a very happy man." Tarik said.

"Er... some books I picked out because they looked important." Most of the books consisted of picture books that were related to Ancient Egypt. Tarik felt like the pictures symbolized something important. One of the books was called "Magic Tree House #3, Mummies in the Morning." Tarik didn't know that was what it said, but as he looked at the cover of two children looking down at a mummy, he was certain it was a story about two tomb thieves who have been cursed for eternity.

"Ah and this book as well." Tarik said as he pulled out The Princess Bride. "I saw you carrying this around and I got one as well. If you have it with you, then you don't have to bother with the one I have."

Yay! Something solid under her posterior. Angela let out a relieved sigh when Tarik helped her sit and lean against the tree. She sighed and leaned against him as well, closing her eyes slightly. Pillow. Mummy pillow. Mummillow.

Heh.

She listened to him ramble a little about breaking his word, frowning slightly. She pulled away and looked up at him. Then he pulled out several books, one of which was the one she'd been planning to read to him. How...had he even noticed her carrying it around? He must have been doing some serious stalking. But at the same time, that was kind of sweet.

"You skipped out on a reading session because of work or whatever came up. You've never outright lied to me or gone behind my back to...to help people who want me dead. Or stood by while your friends tried to kill me." She felt her eyes tear up slightly, and rubbed them with the back of her hand, forcing a smile. She reached up and flicked his nose lightly. "Don't worry about something so trivial, alright? I'm not angry."

She took The Princess Bride from him and settled back against the tree, opening the book. "Actually, I was going to read this one to you. I also made some things to help you study on your own but I sort of forgot to take them with me when I escaped....got permission to leave the infirmary. Ah...haha."

"Ah...yes. Um. Hey, before I started reading, I was wondering--I mean, if you don't mind telling me--what happened?" She motioned to her right eye, nodding toward the eye patch he wore. considering he had been a warrior, she assumed it was the result of some fight or other. But still, she actually didn't know that much about him. Might as well take time to find out more...

Tarik was very relieved. She was so understanding! Now he just had to find a way to get her to return to Egypt and realize the wrongs of her words and that no one in his time was dead or passed away. Well, he'll work on it. Yet he was shocked with her examples! Weren't they a bit too extreme? "Of course! You needn't use extreme examples to compare my loyalty." Tarik said.

He glanced at the book. "You wished to read this to me? Well, I suppose I can listen. It must be a very important tale." Tarik said. Perhaps this is why he should never judge a book by its cover since he honestly didn't think that it was very important. He waited for Angela to start reading to him when she suddenly asked him a question.

"My eye?" Tarik repeated. "Er... it's a very odd story. When I arose from my slumber and finally gained consciousness, my eye was already missing. I do not know what happened to it and whenever I looked at my reflection--I wasn't scared, just saying--but it always... made me anxious. So I bought this eye cover." It was a lame story. He would have preferred to lie and tell her that he lost it in a great battle but there wasn't so much as a scar on his eye.

"I haven't an idea where my eye is now."

"Yeah...well...the last man I put any trust in, did all of the above," Angela said. "So it'll take a little more than missing out on a reading lesson to do more than slightly annoy me." She listened to the story of his eye. Oh...he lost it in kind of a boring way, didn't he? "Well, I mean, I'm sure you'd rather have both eyes but the eye patch sort of adds an air of mystery. I makes you look rather dashing. You know...sort of. So don't fret over it too much."

"Anyway, right. The book. I chose this one, actually, because I figured you would like it. It has lot of adventure--sword fighting, giants, pirates and all that."

"It seemed like the sort of thing you'd go in for. But we can read one of the others if you like." She looked at the other books a little dubiously. Tarik and his obsession with children's books...honestly. She really needed to hurry and teach him to read and appreciate better writing. "Anyway, shall we give it a bash or shall we read one of yours?"

"What man would do such a thing!? Such a man doesn't deserve any respect! I can't believe this." Tarik cried out, honestly shocked. Well, there are a lot of despicable people out there. Men and women alike, but to think he was near one of them and couldn't have him hanged was the worst thing ever! Tarik shouldn't think about it too much. "But why would such an assault be allowed in this school? Such a person should be banished for disquieting the peace."

It was hard to sit around and read because of it now, but he recalled that Angela wasn't in any condition to be running around or anything like that so Tarik sighed. He would have to investigate later. "Well, I will think about this later. I suppose... you should rest first. Stressing matters must be pushed aside." Tarik said. Although he wasn't sure if he'd be able to concentrate on the story even if it was interesting. "Er yes... my eye. Perhaps I should forever answer vaguely to keep it a mystery. After all, there is nothing impressive about my lost eye as there was no battle involved."

"We shall see if I like this story. You may go on with the story you decided to read." Tarik said. "The ones I have picked can wait, I suppose."

"I used to think that everyone had what it took to be a main character."

xxHana was holding the goods! She had the goods! It was the Hamlet movie directed by Kenneth Branagh! It was in a plastic bag along with some guilty pleasures such as a romance novel or two and some fattening chips and candy which she would probably have to resort to giving out to the class. Hana was about to go report straight to Severin when she noticed a couple at a tree. Hana quickly clambered up another tree and her telescopic eyes honed in on them. If only she had telescope glasses so she could zoom in even more.

They were reading together! Hana almost melted like butter on her branch. They were such a cute couple! Hana pulled out her phone and took a picture. This was going in her hall of fame in her album! This was adorable and was better than candy! She felt warm ticklies in her stomach and she giggled. Although the man's fashion sense was a bit wacky, and there was a major height difference, the way they sat together was just precious.

Now Hana was certain about their story. They met and fell in love. It was a simple story. Running into each other every day. Bumping into each other and eventually talking together. Then they slowly started to fall in love and they still had yet to realize how not whole they felt without the other. Hana loved this simple love story. It made her happy and she watched them. The girl was leaning on the guy and he obviously was relishing her closeness.

Seeing this kind of scene made Hana's day soar! It was one of her best days ever! She could just swing around the tree using her hair as she shouted about how great her day was!

"Well, I don't really have any proof," Angela said sheepishly. "And it's kind of complicated. And...I don't know. You're right. We should just not think about it right now. Or your missing eye. We should move right along from that topic. We don't have a lot of time anyway. So this time, I'll just read to you for a bit. I'll um, be in the infirmary for a while. Probably. Possibly."

"Actually, I don't know. I'm sort of being harassed by someone and I might not stay there if he keeps bothering me but you can try to stop by and if I'm there, I'll give you the things I made for you to study. In the mean time..."

She opened the book and leaned closer to Tarik, resting the book half on his knee and half on hers. "Alright...."

"The year that buttercup was born, the most beautiful woman in the world was a French scullery maid named Annette. Annette worked in Paris for the Duke and Duchess De Guise and it did not escape the Duke's notice that someone extraordinary was polishing the pewter. The duke's notice did not escape the notice of the duchess either, who was not very beautiful and not very rich, but plenty smart. The duchess set about studying Annette and shortly found her adversary's tragic flaw.

Chocolate.

Armed now, the duchess set to work. The palace De Guise turned into a candy castle. Everywhere you looked, bon bons. There were piles of chocolate covered mints in the drawing rooms, baskets of chocolate covered nougats in the parlours. Annette never had a chance..."

What? Which was it? She was possibly going to be in the infirmary? Someone was harassing her? Well, he would make sure to visit all the time to shoo away this harasser or something. "I'll come by when I can." Tarik said to her.

He glanced at the book as Angela began to read but he realized he couldn't keep up. So he gave up on that and just listened. So far, the story sounded kind of odd in a very silly kind of way. The wordings were a bit confusing, but Tarik liked to assume.

"Ah. Chocolate. It sounds like a very dangerous object." Tarik said with a nod. He frowned. "Wait a moment. I am certain that chocolate is a food or something to eat. Is it poisonous? Well, I didn't hear it was."

"No, no, no," Angela said, giving him a slightly teasing smirk. "Women are much scarier than that. Why poison someone when you can simply sabotage them and ensure they spend the rest of their lives utterly miserable and in deep, agonizing emotional pain of the loss of their beauty--and eating too much chocolate is definitely going to hamper one's appearance. Killing would be far, far too easy. For a woman trying to steal the man you love, you definitely have to find a way to make her suffer for eternity."

Well, she wasn't really that jealous. After all, if the man chose someone else, that was his decision. Even if the woman actively tried to take him away, ultimately he was the only one who could decide who he wanted to be with.

So she would hardly be able to place all the blame on the other woman. And sabotaging her just meant you admitted your faults were too great for the relationship to work. And...ugh. Now she was thinking about things that would ultimately depress her. So definitely not something to continue dwelling on.

The chase...was on! Peter was going to get that fat, fluffy pigeon. And when he did, he was going to cook that sucker slowly over an open fire. After his initial failed pounce, the pigeon had fluttered into a tree. Peter went up after it, but it flew back to the ground and was walking around with that stupid expression pigeons always made.

So now, Peter was alternating between stalking, pouncing and chasing.

At the moment, he was chasing.

The bird was fluttering just above the ground in a panic, feathers fluttering everywhere. And Peter was right behind it. He was definitely going to get it this time. The pigeon finally halted near the school and Peter shifted to stalk mode, quietly creeping up on it. Closer...closer...closer...and then he pounced! About two seconds after the pigeon took flight, unfortunately.

Peter's forehead whacked against the side of the school and he fell back onto the ground, staring dazedly up at the sky. "Bloody bird..."
