Eliana was astounded. Her jaw may have or may have not hit the floor. What just happened? Her Swablu had looked so at ease, she figured she’d gotten lucky and had a starter pokemon with more experience. Perhaps the Swablu was just overly confident? …Or too lazy to give a damn. Whatever the case was, that body slam looked like it was going to end the battle before it even started. Cringing, Eliana squeaked involuntarily as she watched the pokemon get knocked out of the air, her normally perfect composure faltering for a moment before she pulled herself together. Swablu gingerly got to its feet, favoring the wing that had taken the most damage. That nervous pit in the center of Elli’s stomach grew ever larger with each passing second. What if it’s broken? That would be terrible. Uneasy thoughts started racing through her head. What happens if she loses? Would they take her Swablu away? She hadn’t had the pokemon for very long at all and she already dreaded the thought of losing it. Maybe she wasn’t cut out for battling. She wanted to train and get better, but she didn’t like watching her pokemon get hurt even in the slightest.
All of that didn’t matter though. The battle was still going on and her Swablu -while seriously hurt and a little unsteady- could still fight. At least a little bit. “Okay, that was a hard hit you took. Now go ahead and hit him harder!” Elli encouraged, despite her own doubtful feelings. “Use Peck!” She ordered. The girl actually wanted to try out the Swablu’s Heat Wave, but with Growlithe being a Fire type, that probably wouldn’t be wise. A glint of determination could be seen in the bird pokemon’s eyes. It flapped its wings and slowly but surely lifted itself in the air, appearing more than a little unbalanced with its hurt wing. Then, letting out a cry of anger, the Swablu flew at the Growlithe, intent on embedding its sharp beak into the other pokemon’s flesh.
((Okay, I think I understand. I'll be sure to read up on the Information when I get the chance. Swablu has a defense stat of 8 though by the way, so that would be 12 damage. right? EDIT: I was also wondering what would happen if I used Heat Wave instead of Peck. Like, what's the whole deal on Not Very Effective and Super Effective hits in the battling system?)) (yes, you are right)
(A roll of a 20, this brings me to critical rolls and fumbles. If you roll a 1, you roll a fumble and that turn ...attack or defense rolls are reduced by 1. But, since you rolled a 20, your attack rolls are increased by 1)
(20 -2 + 7 - 7 = 18dmg)
Though her partner might be screamish about battle, the pokemon was not. As the Growlithe would stand firm as that beak came at him ..., and he held his ground. He didn't move an inch and actually struck his claws deeper into the gym's mat as he saw it coming. His tail flicking from one side to another as his ears went down, and his eyes up as that beak hit him literally in the head.
The move making a loud thwack around the area as he simply stood there and shook it off as though it was nothing. He would take a few steps forward as he snorted at her in a way that showed his contempt for what he viewed as a very weak attack.
A puff of smoke would escape his nostrils as he glares at the bird.
It was his time now ...as he would feel something wet dripped down the side of his face. It was followed by more and more wetness as he crosses his eyes to take a better look at it.
Blood was traveling down his nose ...as he suddenly realized the bird's hit had been hard than he thought. A weakness would make his legs quiver as his eyes would start to roll.
A delayed reaction for a very stubborn pokemon as the Growlithe would faint dead away.
It was a 1 hit knock out.
Exp gained: 55 Growlithe (m) lvl:2/Adamant Hp: -4/14 Pp: 17 Att: 8 Def: 7 Spd: 8 Sp Att: 7 Sp Def: 7 Moves: Body Slam, Roar,
(Another note, any attacks that deal more than -7 dmg will kill your pokemon. So be careful, and make sure you know when to call your pokemon back from a battle)

Eliana was always a flighty type of person. Choosing to flee when things went bad. It wasn’t surprising the girl wanted to grab her pokemon and run screaming out of the room. But she didn’t. She stood there, trying to keep her composure. As was a habit when she was trying to calm herself down, Elli chewed on her bottom lip. Meanwhile, her Swablu practically shot towards the Growlithe, all previous hurts and injuries forgotten for the time being. The cotton-winged bird was prepared for her opponent to attempt evading, but the Growlithe never did. Big mistake. Huge, in fact. Taking advantage of the puppy’s stubbornness, the Swablu aimed right for his head. When her beak connected it was like the whole room went quiet and all that could be heard was the impact. This battle was over. Almost seeming indignant, the Swablu circled proudly above the Growlithe, impatiently waiting for the other pokemon to realize it was bleeding profusely from the gash on its head. When it finally fainted, the bird flitted happily back to its trainer, confidence evident in the way it floated in front of her.
Elli, however, was still trying to process what happened. They… won? Of course they won! Her nervousness disappeared in an instant, replaced by enthusiasm. “Wow! Great job! You’re a natural.” She congratulated, smiling ear from ear. Before she could restrain herself, she let out a yip of excitement and embraced her pokemon in a tight hug. The Swablu, however happy to make its trainer this happy, was still feeling that Body Slam and let out a pained cry. “Oh! Sorry! Sorry.” Elli let go immediately, feeling foolish. Just ’cause they won didn’t mean her pokemon’s injuries would be healed miraculously upon victory. If the small flying pokemon was offended, it didn’t show it and instead landed on her head again. I guess recalling her to her pokeball is out of the question? She silently pondered. She didn’t mind, even if the cotton puffs looked ridiculous to any who saw her. She now turned her attention on the Growlithe, feeling a pang of guilt at the sight. “Is he... going to be alright?” She asked the voice, uncertain of whether she should just leave the room... or what.

A reddish light would appear from the ceiling as the growlithe was recalled and a voice would response immediately afterwards.
"Congratulations on your victory, and admission into the academy. At this time, you are to return to the auditorium to see what you do next, and once finished with everything there you are to head to manuvering classes to continue your training."
The voice would tell her. She had been successful.

“O… okay.” Eliana stuttered hesitantly, watching with wide eyes as the Growlithe was recalled. The voice hadn’t answered her question about the fire pokemon’s wellbeing, but what was she supposed to do about it? She could only hope that the damage the Swablu had done was not permanent. The girl mentally slapped herself. What was she doing? Here she was, victorious. Having beaten the test she had been so scared of. And what did she do? She lingered. Worried about a pokemon that was not even her own and had been intent on ripping her Swablu to shreds only moments earlier. She was a trainer now. She could not afford to feel sympathy and guilt towards her opponents. “Thanks. I guess… I‘ll be going now.” It took only a moment after her words were spoken for her to feel stupid. Why was she thanking that voice? It was probably a computer or something. Completely flustered, the pixie-like girl spun on her heel and made her way out of the room, cheeks flaming as she bit her bottom lip. For such an intelligent girl, she could be quite the airhead.

Both boy's would cluck their tongues as the attacks failed, primarily due to the actions of a certain Quagsire. Without it the Lampent surely would have met it's end.
Falling into surprisingly simply defensive stances the Ninetail's and Poliwhirl would simply wait.

The sound of her voice grated on her nerves ....it was hard enough to be given such a choice, and even harder when your partner's only answer is that I trust you.
The girl wasn't a fool, she knew that things were unsure ...at this point, they had a good chance to end it ...either way. Their opponents were holding on by a thread, but, hers was even shorter. She looked at the Lampent, death wasn't a problem for it, but Salacia.
If the pokemon hadn't taken that hit ....she would have died, and the thought that she was willing to risk that in order to win this fight ....a pointless fight. Well, that wasn't really a fight at all .....as she bit her own lower lips as Salacia would literally cough up the Lampent.
She had once more protected the precious....though the pain from their attacks would make her stumble a bit .....she had been confused for a while now, but it was over, and she was more than ready to deal with her opponent in the way she needed .....as her cheeks would puff up with water.
"Salacia return."
Victoria would call out.
If only, Jasmine would have stuck to heatwave all throughout the fight ...the way that they had been assaulted with bubbles. IF only, ......the reddish light would come out ....there was no time for regret ....as the Quagsire would do something quite strange ...she would jump out of the way of the reddish light.
Salacia would duck it .....as it hits the stones instead of her, and she would release a full torrent Water gun at the water type. They needed to take him down first, and he wasn't far from that possibility.

Jasmine's eye widened as she watched it almost in slow motion, Salacia dodged the retreat.
The Quagsire's cheecks puckered and then launched the blast.
A streak of water went for the Poliwhirl... and that was it.
They were past the chance to surrender now, and she couldn't allow the Leap and Percival to have an open shot at the Quagsire.
"Burnout, back her up!!! Heatwave!"
It seemed Victoria would have her wish, Jasmine would look to rile up both the trainers on the other side, if any one of them was still up and active when this was over.
They needed to strike and strike hard now, as flame rushed up from the Lampent's mechanism, overflowing and rushing out, before the housing on his flame burst open and unleashed the Heatwave at both the Poliwhirl and the Ninetales!

"No, don't back her up ...don't encourage her!"
Victoria would call out loudly. The first one they could see was an accident, and they might be willing to let it slide, but as the Quaqsire was quickly followed up by Jasmine's burnout ....there would be no missing their attention.
The Quagsire's checks would go flat as she smiles dangerously.
That had been a good turn around, as she looks at her precious with nothing but amusement in her eyes.
(I am right and you are wrong this time)
The Quagsire would declare at Victoria sounding quite proud of herself. Her tail would flicker and shake around as she did a bit of a dance ...afterall, if they did this right...they would be down one opponent.

((Good lord, I can't even do the math x_X So many pages, so many posts...))
((Hope Grey's kept all the pluses and minuses written down for this))
"It was a hit." Jasmine spoke evenly, her eye flicking back once or twice to Victoria, but set on their opponents. "They may have let us off if she missed... but if an attack hits... I doubt their pokémon would let you back out now either."
"We can't stop her here, and I'm certainly not leaving her to be a target by herself."
[This is a matter of debate.] The Lampent's flame flicked.

That was probably a big mistake as the Quagsire's eyes would start to shimmer as she threw her owns wide.
(PRECIOUS)
She would scream out as Victoria would snap at her.
"Give it a rest, literally!"
She would bark at her own pokemon whom stop in mid-lunge and gave a sour face to her trainer.
"We sure could have, but you are right, it's too late to back down now. I just hope we don't end up regretting this answer."
She would tell Jasmine as Salacia would twirl on one leg.

((Oh sure make me do all the work. rolleyes ))
((Here's the breakdown after removing any Criticals/Fumbles which effectively cancel themselves out.))
Salacia: -1 Offensive Rolls.
Burnout: -1 Offensive Rolls.
Leap: +1 Offensive Rolls. +1 Defensive Rolls.
Percival: +1 Offensive Rolls. +1 Defensive Rolls.
((Thusly the rolls become...))
Salacia = 9
Burnout = 7
Leap: = 8
Percival = 17
((And the math is....))
(9 - cool + (13 - 11) = 3/2 = 1.5 (round) = 2 DMG
Leap HP: 5
Percival HP: 3
Burnout HP: 1
Salacia HP: 7
((I put down everyone's HP so we're precisely clear on where things currently stand.))
((Additionally Burnout Flinched earlier so that Heatwave qualifies as a Counter-Attack.))
"Cheap Shot" The blue haired boy growled faintly, gritting his teeth as he watched his opponents.
The merchant child's expression had become shadowed, but the glint of his eyes from within the darkness was an ominous sign. "Quite" Would be the only word he spoke, adjusting his glasses in the process.
"LEAP! Wreck em with another Bubble!" The sportier of the two trainer's shouted, stamping his foot rather childishly upon the ground.
"Percival, turn the Quagsire's mind to mush..." The merchant boy stated, his voice cold and devoid of emotion "...at least whatever hasn't rotted on it's own."
Bulbous eyes narrowing like those of his trainer, Leap would slap his hands together as if it prayer. Slowly the Poliwhirl's entire body would begin to inflate, filling with water which audibly sloshed around. He was building up the pressure, and when it was released bubbles would fly, filling the air like an all consuming fog!
Percival growled, his voice savage and angry for a species that looked so majestic. Bands of gold would appear in the air as the use of Extrasensory began. Muddled and confusing thoughts would fill Salacia's mind. Not the usual nonsense, but something totally alien to her..... Algebra. The Ninetales was doing math....but he was doing it in the Quagsire's head!

((Sooooo, ouch, against an 18 here, this one's a plea to the dice Goddess when we're dancing on rolls like this <_< ))
Between everything, Jasmine looked to the boys there declaring the 'cheap shot', she frowned her eye forward, something about them calling it that when they hadn't even formally surrendered seemed like it was wrong in its own way.
But arguing that point didn't seem to matter.
It wasn't their words that would win this fight, it was their pokémon.
And Burnout needed to be there for Salacia once more, these attacks were looking stronger and stronger.
"I know you're tiring by now, Burnout, but you have to keep fighting!" The girl declared, "One more bulb flash, let's give them it!"
They couldn't keep doing this forever either, soon the boys and their pokemon would get wise to the Lampent's trick and find a way around it.
They needed to work hard on winning and fast, as his flame grew once more into a blast of white light before Percival and Leap, focused entirely on them and angled so Salacia would be safe to see where she dodged based on this!
They would keep at it until the end here, as he looked to send both fighters' attacks off-shot!
EDIT: [18+9] - [17+12] = -2, NO DAMAGE
((Well that's the Ninetales' Algebra off, hope that was enough taking that for Salacia << ))

(Aw, but let's not forget Leap's sp. defense was dropped by 1.
So the dmg should be 3)
(9 - 7 + 13 -10 = 5/2 = 2.5 rounds to 3dmg)
Hp: 4 Leap
The attack would hit, but it wasn't enough ...it would seem that their attacks were never enough as the water type would stop her twirling.
"I actually meant to end this foolishness."
Victoria would declare. It wasn't meant to be a trick, and she hated that it came out as such. Surrender wouldn't be easy at all ....as Salacia immediately moved behind her Precious. Since, the attack seemed to become condense as a fog ...the pokemon would look to do what she did before and leaning forwards would topple over onto the Lampent to smash him against the ground and keep him safe from the water that floated in the air if need be.
It was a bad risk, and Victoria wasn't enjoying one moment of it ....as she saw what the Ninetails was doing.
How she wished they could at the very least take one of them out .....as they struggled to keep things undercontrol.
(Darn, still posted too late. Anyway, thanks for doing the dirty work, Grey ... heart )

Walking along the hallways in the Auditorium, Sakura stuck to the wall as close as she could as her soft footsteps echoed with each move she made. She kept her head high though, curious and alert as she entered the battle room that she had been led to earlier.
Instinctively reaching for her poke ball at her belt on her right, she took a deep breath and pushed the doors open, looking around. She wasn't the only person here, as there were several people inside. A little calmed by the fact that she wasn't alone, Sakura walked past the entrance and found a spot to lean against the wall and scan her surroundings. Such commotion was in the air, and she soon pin-pointed the reason behind it. It wasn't that hard to realize why, really, being quite glaringly obvious. There seemed to be a battle going on, right around the climax of the battle too. Glancing at the trainers, she saw that the type match-up was disadvantageous for the Lampent as it's opponent was a Quagsire. A double type disadvantage for the poor pokemon. It seemed to be faring pretty well though, against all odds.
The trainers were all fired up, and she decided she would stay put until they were finished. It seemed a tad too hectic to do anything else for the time being, and the trainers needed to concentrate, not have some newbie barge into their match and ruin their concentration in the middle. She could be patient and wait it out, she supposed. Besides, the battle looked fun. It would be an exciting match to watch if nothing, although it seemed it was nearing the end. After this, she'd decide what to do, she guessed.
