"Her name is Maria." Jay said smiling and flipped the pancake. "Almost done..." jay picked up the plate of several pancakes and other breakfast goods. He smiled and carried them back towards the main room. "Here you go Maria." Jay said with a warm smile and placed the plat on the small table in her cage.

Leva looked at the new girl from her place on Jay's shoulder. She bowed her tiny head, "Very nice to meet you, Maria, I am Leva." She said sweetly.

 "Thank you" Maria said to Jay looking at the food and eating a little. "Nice to meet you too Leva, although I wish the circumstances were better." She added as she ate some more. Wow. I haven't had such good food for years. Maria thought recalling when she was free and when her mother would cook for her. I wonder how long I'll be here. She looked back at Leva still trying to believe that what she was seeing was real

"Your wish is my command,"
Leva nodded sympathetically, "Too true." She slowly dissolved into an orange mist which drifted off Jay's shoulder and reformed as Leva at her usual full height. "Though, they could be worse, right?"

"I suppose they could." Maria agreed continuing to eat her breakfast. She looked back over to Leva, "So whats it like being a genie?" Her eyes were quickly averted by the sudden downpour in rain but then went back to Leva. Maria was sometimes easily distracted but never for very long.

Leva raised an eyebrow, "Now that's an odd question." She chuckled, "It's like me asking you what it's like to be human...or being a slave." She leaned back into the air, floating at eye level, "It is what it is, it's all I've ever known."

Maria laughed a little too. "Yeah I guess you're right. It was kind of a stupid question." She kept quiet while she finished her breakfast and left the empty plate on the table and sat back in her pillows. how many people have been in this cage? She wondered.

Leva shrugged, "Don't worry about it, people ask me often than you'd think." She stretched in the air, making a loop da loop before rolling on her belly in the air and resting her head ontop of her intertwined hands, "So, how long have you been a slave?"

"A few years." Maria sighed "All of my escape attempts have failed." She laughed a little "Thus all my scars." Looking at the floor she ran her hand over the floor. Just another cage. Another cold floor. Sometimes she sounded like she was depressed but she has never given up hope of being free again and completing her mission.

Leva smirked, "Must be nice, being able to run...I can't go far from my lamp without a direct wish to do so." She said with a shrug, "Same with moving it on my own..."

"Thats gotta be tough." Maria said looking at Leva. "Being bound by the desire of another." She thought a little and then looked at Leva again. "At least you get to travel. Right?" Maria didn't know much about genies but she knew that Leva had to have been around a while.

Leva chuckled, "Oh, I've been everywhere. But Arabia will always be 'home.' Downside is I never choose my journeys, and the ride is usually cramped, being in my lamp and all most of the time and all."

"but at least you're not in chains. Or on a leash." Maria commented. She had been to many homes but never in a different area. "I thought genies were myths before now." She added laughing slightly.

Leva floated and rolled to her side, "True, but you will be released from your binds one day, even if that's in death. I live forever." She pointed out. With a shrug she laughed at her other statement, "We are rather rare, I'm not surprised I'm the first you've come across."

"I know it won;t help much, but I'm sorry." Maria said knowing that someday she would be free but Leva would still be bound. Its amazing how she can float like that. She thought watching every turn and twirl Leva made with fascinated eyes.
