And why not?? You have every right too. I voted in the 2009 elections in Fla. in the U.S. and I have every right to complain. I think that your right about people who do not even take the time to go and vote to try to make a difference. They are the reason things are the way that they are. Every person who is old enough to vote-Should vote. Its their patriotic duty as a citizen. (pours MW another round and talks in a lower voice now about everything-Takes a marlboro king from his own pack and lights up-thanks MW for her offer.)

undefined dad Take a look at this and remember elections are in Nov. 2010. U.S. House and Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises. 1) They voted to not give you a S.S. cost of living raise in 2010 and 2011. 2) Your Medicaid premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2 years and You will not get the 3% COLA:$660/yr. Your total 2-year loss and cost is -$1,600 or -$3,200 for husband and wife. 3) Over the 2 years They(congress/senate/house of reps) each get $10,000.00 a year for themselves. Do you feel screwed now???? I felt screwed back in 1987 when we had a good president.

Sorry - I was not a fan of Ronald Reagan. xp But I shouldn't get into a discussion about politics or especially religion. I don't want to piss anyone off - including myself. rofl (I do completely agree that it's your duty as a citizen to vote)
Anyhooo. I see you all have made it to page 90!! Yay! I'll be sending a little surprise to Undefined, Metal, and Exxos!

I ride the fence on the right to vote issue. I think you should have to pass a test to get that right. If you need to pass a test to drive a car, you should have to pass a test to drive something far more dangerous in the wrong hands – a country. Though it would not be a test on history or anything of that type, just a language comprehension test to say that you actually understand what you are voting on. So many people I have known have voted for one thing, only to find out that that proposition or candidate was the opposite or unrelated to what they thought they were voting for. Also things like MTV's rock the vote, if MTV told you to vote, don't, go to school or light yourself on fire. I just get angry about it. It would be one thing if people voted in their best interests, but they rarely seem to even understand what those interests are – they make the easy decisions that will maybe net them something RIGHT NOW, despite it being the wrong decision in the long run; or they make a decision with no understanding at all of what they are doing.
And to tell you how bad it is, in the last round of voting here, I had to get out the OED to read some of the things I was to vote on. If you're using words that even I do not understand, you have to take a step back and either A) stop leading the citizens around, or B) start writing things in college level english at most. Just because you have a PhD in being dickish with legalese, does not mean the citizenry does.
I need a rum and coke - cherry coke if we have it.

You do have a good point there Exxos. Clear information can definitely be hard to come by. And there are so many people who don't even attempt to try to learn more about the issues. They are content to go by a few talking points that are repeated over and over and don't really mean anything - they're just a bit of advertising really, and never look deeper than that. *sigh* *hands Exxos his rum and cherry coke*
