I was gonna make Neeko of the dark... but found it had been dopne rather a lot already so have to come up with something different. But I revved him all up for darkness... the blue may help with something. Me and my obsession with blue...

Okay. HELP....

I just found a adorable little baby bird! But....I don't know what kind it is. I've never seen a bird like this before..x.x

Does anyone have a clue as to what it can be? I need to know so I can figure out what it eats!!! I mushed up some bread and water, tried to feed it but it doesn't like it. I put seeds in the cage also for it and water.

It looks like a starling or a blackbird. Do you get those in America?

Starlings usually eat anything they can find, including each other... blackbirds are iomnivours but tend to prefer big juicy worms (I love watching them feed in the morning rain); meal worms should be a good start. You shoudl be able to get them from any decent pet shop... but they're really disgusting! I had to get them for my lizards.

What dio you mean; you found it?

Starling

Blackbird

Whatever it is, it is probably a member of the thrush family and thus omnivourous.

We had some really retarded blackbirds and a starling in our garden last year. Starlings live in flocks and are amazingly aggressive (though I once watched a flock of sparrows attack some starlings... they didn't know what hit them). Blackbirds are solitary apart from with thier mates (they mate for life I think). In our garden... oh no, I get the bizarre birds! We had one female, two males and a starling! Stupid animals. I used to sit in the hall and watch them feed together.

The year before that we had two male robins. Again these are very territorial birds. I put food out for the birds very early in the morning, and it was always the robins that got there first. One of them lived in the gardens to the left of ours and the other to the right. It was quite common for me to stand in the kitchen and watch as one of them sat on its fence while the other grabbed some food, then, when that had flown off the, first would start gathering food. If the robin came back while its neighbour was still gathering it would sit on the fence and wait. Very wierd...

Thanks for all the info! I don't think it's ether of those birds though. I still don't know. I looked online for bird sites, and everything and still got no clue. x.x I hope its still alive when I wake up tomarrow. Poor baby's probably hungry. All I could give it is bread and water, with seeds on the floor of the cage for it. That bird can seriously hop though. It kept hoping all over. So adorable. I held my hand up higher away from it and it hoped up onto it!

Here's hopin'. Wild birds don't do well in captivity, especially if they've experienced a trauma... though the younger ones seem to fair better.

Meh...Well, it seemed fine last night and all..but this morning it was laying in the cage leaning to the side, and couldn't move. I picked it up carefully and it seems hurt...Now it keeps having bad spasems where it cant controle its body and it moves on its own, meaning...its going to snap its neck or something if someone doesn't hold it still so it cant..I had this happen with every bird I ever found that was hurt, they always get this and die. I just wish god would take it so it doesn't have to suffer like this anymore. Its freaking horrible to watch...I really thought this bird would of lived...

It's shock. They don't usually last over night.

I dunno. Sometimes they can live, I mean Michi did. she was also a wild bird, and just a baby when I found her. She lived, and still is here. Going on 7 years, there lifespain is 6 years for the Inca dove. She's still very much like she was when she was a baby, always entergetic and playful and happy. ^^ I just really wish that bird would have made it. But watching it suffering like that was the most horrible thing I had to watch. I just prayed god would take it so it didn't suffer anymore..They way it was getting those spasims....But it finally passed away. x.x At laest its not suffering anymore. I just love animals so much,i'd take anything in if I found it hurt or without a home if I could..Its depressing when they die.

I know it's late... but I think it could've been a crow, or a raven... apparently baby crows sometimes have hints of yellow in their beaks...
PostPosted: Mon May 14, 2007 3:07 pm

Hmm.x.x There are a lot of crows in the trees it was near. But theres also doves and other birds..so it's hard to be sure. I looked up crow baby pictures though and they didn't look like it. They were black and bigger with blue eyes. so pretty!

But if it was a crow...x.x I love crows..and ravens..so pretty. That would of been so cool to have one of them for a pet!

You could have called it Quoth...

bleh, crows. There are an awful lot of rookeries in this town. There are at least 4 different factions within walking distance of my house. No, 5 now that we moved to the other side of town (this town is so small... only 1500 people, you can walk from one side to the other in five minutes).

I don't get a morning chorus... I get Hell's chorus. 5am they start squaking and screaching. I love watching them but I wish they'd understand they cannot sing!

I watched a pair of magpies try to build a nest in one of the rookeries once... idiots.
