Deciding that she wouldn't let Themis get the best of her again, Althena raised a hand, ignoring the painful bite-marks that stood out on her smooth, blue skin, pointing it at the Manectric as a bluish aura engulfed her body. The red gem on her forehead twinkled ominously as the Psychic attack was sent out towards Themis, who could do nothing as Althena's psychic hold took affect on him. Struggle all he may, he couldn't free himself, and for now he could just watch as the Golduck held him, suspended helplessly in midair. Electricity coursed over Themis' body, but he was still unable to do anything. It was as though he had been paralyzed.

Helios, meanwhile, was jumping up and down from his place atop Tierra's back, shouting words of encouragement to his teammate. It wasn't that he didn't want Althena to do well too, it was just infuriating knowing that Althena had the complete advantage here. The Vulpix couldn't help but hope that Themis would just ignore Keegan's orders and give the Golduck a taste of his Thunderbolt - the cocky water type could stand to be knocked down a peg or two.
=====
When the water finally receded, the Vaporeon lie on the ground where it once stood shakily, and nearby, Tingle was also on the ground, eyes closed. As Miharu recalled it, she couldn't help but notice the small smirk the unconscious Metang wore. Good job, Tingle! Miharu thought, holding the sphere close to her chest. You took down both the Umbreon and Vaporeon. You truly are amazing. Semomo was noticeably upset as she recalled her fallen Vaporeon, but she forced on a smile and nodded at Miharu. "Good job, kiddo. You sure are something."

"I guess that makes it my turn," Satsuki announced, replacing her sister on the opposite end of the battlefield. In return, Semomo took Satsuki's place in order to referee. "I'm stronger than all of my sisters so you'd better be on your toes!" With those words, Satsuki flung her Pokeball, and her Jolteon materialized on the field in front of her. "Whenever you're ready!"

The Jolteon gave a sharp bark to show that it too was ready, and Miharu gulped a bit. She'd really wanted to work with Starrie today, but there was no way it would stand a chance against a Jolteon. Miharu really didn't want to see her Staryu get zapped into submission so instead she reached for Lily's Pokeball. "Let's give them a show!" she called, as the Bulbasaur materialized in her usual way - a cascade of pink petals floating around her. Lily danced on the spot happily - the garden in which they were battling was beautiful! However, it wasn't time to be enjoying the flowers and the Bulbasaur took up a defensive stance. "Start things off with your Razor Leaf!" Miharu shouted. The Bulbasaur growled before releasing a flurry of leaves that sped towards the spiky Pokemon before them.

Another wave of static electricity covered the Manectric's body, and Themis let out a loud roar, deciding that he'd had enough of this. He loosed a bolt of electricity but didn't aim it at Althena, however it was enough to scare the Golduck into losing her psychic hold on Themis, and with a triumphant growl, he landed on the ground, eyes narrowed sharply at the water type. Althena took a few steps back, gathering her composure before she fired a Water Pulse. Themis nimbly hopped over it, glancing towards Keegan with a practically begging look.

Keegan sighed, and then nodded. As much as he didn't want to see this, he happened to agree with Helios about Althena - since she'd evolved she'd become overconfident and cocky, and Keegan thought it was time to teach her a lesson. Themis dashed towards the startled Golduck, his body becoming wreathed in electricity with each step he took. When he was close enough, Themis lunged at Althena, slamming into her with a powerful Spark attack. Keegan simply closed his eyes and sighed. Althena wasn't getting back up and Keegan recalled her wordlessly. He'd been so happy when Althena had finally evolved, but he couldn't help but miss the happy-go-lucky Psyduck that had been replaced by the stoic and cold Golduck.

"C'mon guys, let's get back to the Pokemon Center," the redhead said, yawning loudly. Instead of climbing on his bike he folded up and put it away. The Vulpix, Manectric and Golem followed along behind him as he made his way back to Mauville, where he went straight to the Pokemon Center and gave his party to the nurse for a round of healing. Before she took the tray of six Pokemon away, Keegan leaned on the desk, tapping his fingers on the smooth surface. "Hey, Joy? You wouldn't happen to have any tools or something around here, would you?"
=====
"Dodge it," Satsuki commanded sharply, not even batting an eyelash. It was almost too easy for the speedy Jolteon to evade Lily's Razor Leaf attack, and both the Bulbasaur and Miharu frowned as it sped from side to side, each leaf missing by a wide margin. "You'll have to be quicker than that!" Satsuki said playfully, waggling a finger at the girl. "Jolteon, Thundershock, go!" The Pokemon's spiked fur stood on end as it generated a weak jolt of electricity and fired it at Lily. The Bulbasaur shrieked in pain, despite the fact that grass types should be resistant to electric attacks.

"Lily, Leech Seed!" Miharu shouted, her hands balled into fists at her sides. Lily shook off the electricity, a small, brown seed poking up through the small opening in her bulb. With a grunt, the seed was fired off towards the Jolteon and it landed in the Lightning Pokemon's spiky mane and disappeared. A moment or so later, Jolteon shuddered as the seed sapped away some of its health and in turn passed it to Lily. Every little bit of health helps, the small girl thought.

Kilik bid adieu to Mazarin, who had gone back to the Pokemon Center to sleep. Now what was he to do? He noticed that the light in his (or rather M.A.'s) hotel room was on. Did someone wake up? Not that he could blame them after an explosion that loud. Nobody was around. He sighed a bit and pulled out Elekid's Pokeball. "Wake up, buddy!" he tossed it up, squinting a bit when the bright lights popped from the ball. He must have not been sleeping, because he was ready to go. At least he was for all of five seconds. When he noticed how dark it was, he began to shiver. Master? Where was he? He spun around and noticed the tall boy standing behind him. "Ele!" he squeaked, running up to his trainer and jumping onto his shoulder. Kilik buckled under his weight - he was getting a lot bigger.

The two walked along the streets of Slateport at what had to be three in the morning. Workers were putting up signs with Professor Rowan's picture all over the city. One worker was having a little difficulty reaching the top part of a poster since he was a little too short. Kilik walked over and plastered the top to the side of the building. "Thank you!" the man piped up. His mustache seemed to move when he spoke. He dashed off to the next site to put up the next poster.

Kilik examined the large sign on the wall, impressed by Professor Rowan's appearance. He looked like what a person might think a mad scientist would look like - gray hair, a large mustache that met with rather fitting mutton chops. He wore a blue vest (at least in the picture) with a black tie and a brown trenchcoat. "What're these?" Kilik whispered, placing his hand on the poster. Around Rowan were three creatures, he figured to be Pokemon.

Elekid tilted his head and placed his nubby hand on the poster as well. "Ele?" he questioned. The Pokemon were very unfamiliar looking...then again, he was just a kid. How was he supposed to know what every Pokemon looked like? Kilik really wished he had his PokeDex with him, though he began to wonder if it would have any data on these Pokemon. No names were given either, so it merely added to the mystery. One was a small green turtle with a twig poking out of the top of his head. Another, an orange simian Pokemon with a flaming rear end. Mike would probably want one of those, he thought, it has to be a fire-type. The last was a tiny blue penguin. It looked like it was wearing a little suit. Around these Pokemon were large question marks followed by the words:
What could these mysteries be? Find out at Professor Rowan's Announcement!

Kilik was now more interested than ever.

Kasiya stirred a bit in the night when the explosion from Kilik and Mazarin's battle rocked the southern half of Slateport, but she somehow managed to sleep through it. Shocker had opened her eyes and had a sleepy look around, but when she didn't see any nearby threats she quickly snuggled back down under the covers and went back to sleep. Both the trainer and Pokemon's sleep was dreamless, and only when the sun was beginning to show itself over the tip of the horizon did the Raichu open her eyes again. She sat up and stretched before poking Kasiya with a paw, but she sighed in defeat when the girl continued to sleep peacefully. "Chu," she mumbled, deciding to leave her lazy trainer alone for the time being. It was looking like it was going to be an absolutely beautiful day and Shocker climbed out of the sleeping bag, having a good look around. The waves were gently rolling in onto the shore and there was only the slightest of cool breezes in the air.

The Pokemon's stomach rumbled and she rubbed it as though it would make the hunger pangs go away. It was then she spotted a tall blonde boy trudging through the sand, and her ears perked up at the sight of him - it was Jaeshan (or so the still-sleepy and hungry Raichu thought)! He was heading towards a small building in the center of the beach, and as Shocker raised her nose she caught the scent of food in the air. Knowing that Jaeshan wouldn't turn her away the Raichu gave chase, finding it somewhat difficult to navigate through the soft (and already searing hot) sand. When the boy entered the shack Shocker had barely enough time to catch up and slip through the door behind him, and only to be hit in the face with a wall of absolutely delicious aromas wafting from every direction - this was heaven, she was sure of it! She came back to her senses and looked around. The place was quite packed and she didn't see which way he'd gone. Her ears drooped a little as she realized she'd lost the blonde boy. Shocker found her way back out onto the beach and she looked around, a bit unsure as to which way she'd come from. She spotted a nearby palm tree and she scampered up it, now enjoying her bird's eye view of the beach.
=-=-=-=-=

Jaeshan watched Luffy smash another rock with ease, just like Combusken had done. Combusken clapped and hopped up and down excitedly. She was always glad to meet another Pokemon who was spunky and tough. Jaeshan nodded at M.A., who looked asleep on her feet. "That's a good idea," he nodded, looking to Robin. "It's very late and I have a feeling that tomorrow will be a very busy day. We should all head back and get some sleep." Combusken looked very disappointed at her trainer's words but she had to agree. If she were too tired tomorrow, she wouldn't be able to have fun. Jaeshan contemplated walking the girls back to... wherever it was that they were staying, but between Luffy and the Houndour, he figured the girls could handle themselves.

"My hotel is this way," he said, nodding his head in that general direction. Combusken was still hopping up and down, sparing with the air, but when she yawned, Jaeshan recalled her. "I guess I'll see you tomorrow, maybe," he added, before bidding them both goodnight and heading off. Well, that was more interesting than I thought it would be, he mused, stretching a bit as he walked. I wonder who won that battle... the Flygon or the Banette... His thoughts were a bit muddled as he made it back to his hotel room, and he kicked off his shoes, pulled off his shirt and climbed back into bed. He was sound asleep before he even really knew it.

Crenu looked up to see an older looking man on the other side of the counter placing a plate with the Octillery balls down in front of Crenu. “It’s not boldness that keeps this coat on my back. I simply don’t have a place to store it.” Takoyaki was hard to pass up, but Crenu didn’t take and outs. As hungry as he was, he decided that his money was better spent on supplies for his pokemon, who were probably getting hungry as well. After washing up he was going to have to stop by the center and see if he could get some food for them there. His body didn’t agree however, as his stomach gave another loud rumble. “Got a locker or something I can put it in?” This looked like a popular rest stop on the beach so he doubted there’d be any unoccupied storage, but he had to ask.

The man laughed a little and nodded. “Sure do. Most people don’t ask to store things here for long, since they probably have rooms to stay in somewhere in Saleport. Did you just arrive this morning?” The man asked as he poured a glass of water and set it next to the plate of Takoyaki.

“Actually, I got here some time yesterday afternoon. I spent the night on one of those beach chairs near the shore.” Crenu watched as the man set the water next to the food. He seemed adamant on feeding Crenu, so he decided to give in. Wasting food wasn’t exactly on his list of things to do and he wasn’t foolish nor proud enough to keep on refusing. He pulled the plate a bit closer and popped the first one into his mouth. It was even better than the ones he remembered eating back home, it seemed that sea food really did taste better closer to the sea.

“That so? Well I suppose there’s nothing like sleeping under the stars. This one’s on the house, but only cause I’m certain you’ll come back for more later. And its gonna be full price then. But locker use is free, no reason in monopolizing something like that.” The man placed a key with a number on it in front of him and walked over to another customer that had just walked in as the blond kid continued to eat.

Crenu finished his plate and put the key in his pocket. Following a sign into the back he found where his locker was and grinned, he was grateful to find a place for his coat, as well as a place to wash up. Using one of the free shower stalls Crenu washed away the sand and sweat that he accumulated the previous day and enjoyed the water. “Heh, old man’s a fool if he thinks I’m coming back for a meal. Pokecenter’s fine, though I am gonna miss his Takoyaki dish.” Crenu dried himself off rather hastily and got dressed, his grey tank top stuck to him slightly as he pulled it over his head. The only thing he put in the locker was his coat, other than that he was still dressed the same. For him though this was good enough for beach were, he had gotten use to walking in the sand with sneakers, as uncomfortable as it was at times. Just as he left the locker room he saw the Tauros girl come running in crying loudly as the hut owner came running out from the kitchen, she had scraps on her elbows and some sand on her face, but she seemed alright for the most part.

“What’s wrong honey!? Did something happen!?” He still had his apron on and some food on his hands, but that didn’t seem to matter as he took the little girl into his arms and picked her up.

“Daddy! Daddy they took him! Some mean people took Charlie from me!” The little girl was crying into her father’s shoulder as she spoke.

“What!?” The man roared as he set his daughter down. “I’ll murder them, where are they now!?”

“I don’t know, but I was leaving the market place with Charlie when they surrounded me! No one was around to help, only some tourists who looked scared too. Oh Daddy, you have to get Charlie back!”

Crenu watched as the man grew red and got angry, ready to storm out and stop the ones responsible for making his daughter cry. The thing that bothered Crenu was the cowardice of the people who witnessed this, it turned out he was right all along. You can’t count on people for jack, this world was only kind to those who were strong. This was none of his business, but he owed the old man for the meal, and this was exactly the type of action he came to Saleport to see. Crenu put a hand on the old man’s shoulder and spoke calmly as the man turned to look at him, his blood clearly boiling for justice. “And just what are you planning on doing? Do you even have any pokemon with you? You gonna beat the tar outta a couple of delinquents? Then what, go to jail? Or maybe just get beat up yourself, either way you’ll be leaving your daughter all alone. Who will you be helping then? Think before you act, stupid old man. Stay here and watch your place, I’ll take care of this.” Crenu grinned, and started for the door.

The man stopped to think for a moment about what the blond boy had said. He had a point, he really didn’t know what he was going to do when he found the guys who did this. “Why are you doing this? How can you be sure you’ll even win?” He called out as he watched the blond boy leave to do what he should have been doing instead. He looked down as he felt his daughter wrap her arms around his waist.

“Don’t ask so many questions old man, I said I’d handle it.” Said Crenu back to the old man as he walked, he didn’t even bother to turn to look at him and instead kept walking. “Just make sure you’ve got a plate of Takoyaki waiting for me when I get back.” With that he left the hut and looked around. He assumed that the market place was the area with all the tents, it didn’t seem that far away. He made for the market place with nothing but the thought of battle on his mind and repaying the old man for his meal.

Cyndaquil stood ready, watching the Hoothoot to see if it would get up. The Hoothoot struggled to get up, and, though it was weak, managed to stand and growled. Kurine couldn't understand why the Pokemon wouldn't try to make Cyndaquil faint, since it was considerably weakned, and that would probably be the last attack it got to use. She didn't want to dwell on it, though, in case it did try to get another attack in while she was thinking, so she said, "Cyndaquil, Ember again!" Cyndaquil opened his mouth as the flames on his back flared a bit more brightly, and a small jet of flame shot out at the wild Hoothoot, which fell over and fainted.

"Yay! That was great, Cyndaquil!" Kurine said happily, returning her Pokemon to his Poke Ball. She felt a lot better than she had after her Sentret had totally ignored her in the previous battle.

After following the man down another couple of ladders, Train finally followed him through the exit, out into the open. By now, Train thought the knot in her side was going to devour her or something, it hurt so bad. The back of her throat was burning an ice-cold pain kind of feeling, but she didn't want this guy trying to kidnap someone else's Pokemon, so she continued the chase, Ratata and Pikachu a couple of feet ahead of her, almost upon the man again.

Even though the sun had set completely by now, Train could still see a lot better than in the cave, and she could follow the man a lot easier, and was catching up to him slightly. Suddenly, though, the man turned and ran into a point at the side of the cave--they had been running along the outside of it--and dissapeared. At this point, Train slowed and stopped, leaning against the outside wall of the huge tunnel and breathing heavily for a few moments, trying to catch her breath. Eventually the knot in her side began to go away, and her throat began to feel better as well.

Train stood up straight and walked over to where she had seen the man dissapear into the side of Mount Moon. She finally spotted a small entrance that was hidden very well, and poked her head inside a bit. She could hear a few people talking, but wasn't quite sure what they were saying. She tried to slip farther into the cave, but suddenly there were blaring lights behind, and she heard,
"You there! What do you think you're doing?!'

Serenity finnally managed to get to sleep with her mudkip next to her in the sleeping bag. Why on earth the pokemon prefered to be under the covers was anyone's guess. At some point in the middle of the night the ground shook and a rather large explosion woke Sere and George. She sat up and looked around. Everything was fairly quiet. George bounced around trying to figure out where the sound came from, but neather trainer nor pokemon could figure it out.

Serenity could hear the soft snoring coming from the girl next to her. She wondered if she had actually managed to make a friend. If she had it would have been the first time in ages. At least the first time she made a friend with someone who wasn't a pokemon anyway.

George started to get excited. He remembered that they were near water and the good fun he had in the water yesterday with Levi. It was still dark though and although his trainer was awake, he didn't think there was going to be a way to convince her to let him go have fun now. From the looks of it she would probably want to head back to sleep. Tomorrow was going to be along day.

There was some shuffling from the area next to her and Sere saw the pokemon that Kasiya had called out before she went to sleep, wiggle out of the sleeping bag. The Raichu nudged it's trainer, then got distracted by something and scampered off down the beach.

"Alright George, we'll find out what was going on in a little while. Come back up here and go to sleep." She patted the area next to her. George didn't move.

"Kip." He bounced in the same spot as if to say that he wasn't going anywhere.

"Alright then. Keep an eye on that Raichu incase it goes wandering off and doesn't come back before we wake up again." Serenity laid back down. Then a thought ran through her head. "That wasn't a free pass to go running off George." She said before falling back asleep.

Waving both of her hopefully new friends off Robin looked over at Luffy and grinned. "Are you ready to go to bed?" She herself was still a bit worked up from before but figured that maybe it would be a good time to go to sleep, it would be a big day tomorrow. Besides tomorrow is when Ampersand was coming back! Well he said he would be there. Robin giggled slightly and blushed at the thought of maybe seeing him in his bathing suit. Without realizing it she was heading back to the pokemon center hoping her 'bed' was still there. She wasn't rich like everyone else seemed to be in there hotel rooms. Her family also didn't get to come they had to work at there jobs and they just couldn't afford to take long breaks for parties in other regions like some people seemed able to do.

Luffy wasn't that tired but he didn't want his trainer to chase him around town all night either. This was surprisingly considerate of him as he settled himself down on her shoulder and resigned himself to being bored.

It turned out that by some miracle there couch was still empty from before. Setting there stuff down on it Robin went back to the bathroom and changed back into her PJ's before coming back to the couch. Laying in the middle of it was a wiped out Luffy snoring away as if he hadn't even left. 'I guess he was tired.' Robin thought as she held back a yawn of her own before settling back onto the couch and promptly fell asleep again herself.

Fixing the broken links on the silver chain turned out to be even easier than Keegan initially imagined. All he had to do was remove the damaged ones and link them back together somehow. Nurse Joy had found an eye-glass repair kit and the small, precision tools had been perfect for the job. To make sure the chain was sturdy and good as new, he placed the lightning-bolt pendant on it and dangled it, swung it a bit and even tugged on it (obviously not with all of his strength) but it wouldn't give. This had all been done before the nurse had brought him back his Pokemon, and as he exchanged the tool case for his Pokemon, his smile was quite broad. Kasiya would sure be glad to see this, and having both found and repaired it, it made him feel almost like a hero. Granted, he hadn't saved her life or anything like that, but at the very least it was a feather in his cap.

He had a nice hot, long shower before grabbing a quick snack before bed - he never could fall asleep on an empty stomach. Making sure Kasiya's necklace was secure within one of his coat pockets, he stripped down to his boxers and found his way under the blankets. He wasn't too sure but he thought he heard the sounds of his Pokemon releasing themselves, and when he opened his eyes Helios and Themis were already fighting for position on the bed. Keegan sighed and rolled over onto his side before covering his head with a pillow. He was only awake for maybe ten more minutes before he was sound asleep.
=====
The Jolteon shook itself furiously, trying to shake the Leech Seed from its body. It was of little use though, as the seed had embedded itself in pretty deep. Satsuki frowned and studied the Bulbasaur. It had aimed that Leech Seed extremely well. "Use Quick Attack," she called, knowing full well that her Jolteon's electric attacks wouldn't be very useful against the grass type Bulbasaur.

The Lightning Pokemon dashed forward, gaining incredible amounts of speed in a very short time. Lily's eyes went wide as the speeding blur of a Jolteon passed by her on the right side, and before she could even blink it struck her on the left. That was one fast Pokemon! However, its speedy retreat was cut short as it was wracked by another shudder - the Leech Seed continued to sap its victim of its stamina.

"Poison Powder, Lily, go!" Miharu shouted, wanting to slow down the Jolteon in any way she could. Lily took advantage of the electric type's momentary stumble to launch a cloud of sparkling purple powder from the bulb on her back, watching with a content smile as it settled onto the Jolteon's spiky body.

Keegan's night was far from eventful as even his dreams were quiet and peaceful. When he opened his eyes in the morning it was still dark outside and as he sat up and stretched he silently berated himself for going to bed so early. He got out of bed, shivering a little as his bare feet touched the cold linoleum floor and he clicked on the radio in the corner, trying to decide if he should go back to bed or just stay awake now. The radio was set to a jazz station which Keegan decided would be fine for now. He crossed the room and peeked between the blinds - at least from this point of view it looked like it was going to be a bright and sunny day.

The redhead flopped back down on the bed and closed his eyes. As much as he wanted to go back to sleep his mind was wide awake. He decided to lie there at least until the sun came up, hoping he would fall asleep before then. That wasn't the case though, as a short time later sunlight began to stream through the small gaps in the blinds. Deciding that he'd lost the fight he sat up and decided to get dressed. Seeing as today was supposed to be the day of the beach party and all that he put on a pair of cutoff jean shorts and a red tee shirt. He gathered his things and recalled Themis and Helios, who were both still sound asleep before he headed out to the cafeteria to get him and his Pokemon some breakfast. He was a little surprised that Sheena wasn't already up, seeing as how early she'd gone to bed, but then again she might have been more tired than he realized.
=====
The Jolteon let out a weak-sounding cry as the poison worked its way into its system, and the urge to lie down and just rest was almost overwhelming. However, hearing Satsuki's reassuring voice kept it on its feet. For now, anyways. "Thunderbolt!" the kimono girl shouted. Growling a bit the electric type's body sparkled with bright, electrical energy before the bolt was launched at Lily. The Bulbasaur closed her eyes and braced herself, using all of her willpower in order to not cry out in pain.

"Double-Edge!" Miharu shouted, deciding then and there that she wasn't going to lose when she had a type advantage. She thrust her hand out towards the Jolteon and Lily charged forward, lowering her head as she neared her target. With both the Poison and the Leech Seed taking its toll, the Jolteon didn't have a lot of time to react and Lily crashed into its side, sending them both for a tumble. Lily cried out a bit upon landing, but she got to her feet, still in much better condition than the Jolteon. Miharu sighed a little, feeling a little better now that Lily seemed to have the upper hand for now.

The sun was shining brightly when Riza Harding looked out the window, marking the third time she would be attempting to leave Mahogany to truly begin her quest to become a top Pokemon coordinator. The first two times she’d not gotten far before deciding to call it quits, and even now she felt full of self-doubt as she hesitated in the Mahogany Town pokecenter. Ever since she hit her head in the Ice Cave she’d felt this way about leaving and right now the only thing she wanted to do was go back home. ‘But if I go home now they’ll all think I’m a big quitter,’ she thought to herself. She looked around the pokecenter wondering where her Pokemon had gotten to. She saw the Sneasel out of the corner of her vision balancing along the edge of one of the sofas lining the area.

“Sneasel get down from there before you fall,” Riza told the Pokemon sternly.
Sneasel stuck her tongue out at the human but eventually obeyed before walking over to her. “You’re getting more and more restless. I suppose we really should get out of here,” Riza murmured, bending down to pet the Pokemon on the head. Sneasel hopped up and down excitedly at the thought of actually leaving this place. She was so bored!

“Well come on Sneasel, before I lose my nerve,” chuckled Riza, heading towards the doors. When she stepped outside she took a deep breath. “We don’t exactly have to leave NOW,” she mused aloud. She glanced down at her Pokemon partner and smiled. “Wanna go up to the Lake of Rage and have a look around?” she asked. Sneasel nodded before running off ahead of Riza. “HEY WAIT I’M NOT AS FAST AS YOU!” Riza yelled as she gave chase.

Poor Riza had to stop and catch her breath many times as she had a very difficult time keeping up with the very speedy Sneasel. Sneasel on the other hand thought that this game of tag was very fun, although she always would make sure she could still see Riza. Riza was getting annoyed by her Pokemon’s antics and she was getting very tired of chasing after her all the time. “You’d better get back here or I’ll put you in your ball!” Riza yelled. That threat was enough to make Sneasel stop in her tracks and she patiently waited while Riza caught up. However the Pokemon wore a very smug smirk. Running away like that had meant that Riza had gone further away from the pokecenter than she had ever gone before.

Now that Sneasel was waking safely with her Riza felt a lot better, and it also meant that she was not running the whole way to the lake. The pair made good progress as they walked north, although Riza felt very nervous. She didn’t know what she would do if they ran into a wild Pokemon or a Pokemon trainer. ‘I guess we will just have to battle if that happens,’ Riza thought, stopping to have a look around. This place was very quiet and peaceful, but she did not see any Pokemon lurking around in the tall grass or trees. It wasn’t long before they reached the Lake of Rage and Riza and Sneasel stopped at the shore, having a good look out over the water. “I have heard rumors of a red Gyarados that resides here,” she told Sneasel. “I wonder if they are true or not.” Just then the water began to ripple and splash and Riza took a nervous step back. However there was no cause for alarm as it was just a Magikarp jumping in the water. ‘Now that is a dumb Pokemon,’ Riza thought, shaking her head at it.

Riza and Sneasel continued to stand on the river bank, looking out over the water. After about twenty minutes and more boring Magkiarp Riza began to think that maybe the rumor really was just that. A rumor after all. She turned around to walk away, beckoning for Sneasel to follow her. It was then that she noticed a boy walking towards her, wearing a funny straw hat and carrying a large butterfly net on his back. He was whistling to himself and at first he paid no attention to Riza or Sneasel. However when Sneasel pointed up at his hat and began to snicker loudly he stopped in his tracks and glared down at Sneasel.

“What are you laughing at?” he demanded sharply. His voice was loud and angry and it made Sneasel step back a bit. When nether Riza nor Sneasel answered he held up a pokeball and showed it to Riza. “Okay that’s it you asked for it! Pokemon Battle, right now!” He threw the ball on the ground and from it came a very large and very scary looking bee.

Now Riza wasn’t an expert on Pokemon or anything like that but she did know a beedrill when she saw one. She gulped and nodded before looking down at Sneasel. “Um okay I guess. You’re up Sneasel, let’s do this!” It was Sneasel’s turn to be nervous as she confronted the beedrill, raising her sharp claws up in the air. “Go get it Sneasel!” Riza cheered.

For a moment or so Sneasel just stood there wondering what to do. Riza hadn’t given her a command or anything so for now she just waited. The bug catcher however seemed to know exactly what he was doing as he pointed at the little Sneasel. “Go get it with your fury attack beedrill!” he yelled. The beedrill did just that and buzzed forward, rearing back with its sharp stingers and jabbing dangerously at Sneasel.

“Oh no Sneasel watch out!” Riza cried fearfully. Hearing her trainer’s words Sneasel ducked low to the ground and quickly dodged out of the way of those scary stingers. However she didn’t know what to do now.

The bug catcher just laughed and pointed at Sneasel. “Okay beedrill let’s end this! Twineedle attack now!” Once again the bee obeyed without hesitation and it buzzed loudly before taking aim at Sneasel again. He lunged forward, managing to strike Sneasel with both stingers for a hard, super-effective attack.

“SNEEAA!” Sneasel cried as she fell to the ground, feeling the pain from the strong attack all over her body. Try as she might she could not get back up again.

“Your Pokemon is defeated!” the bug catcher said triumphantly before recalling his beedrill into its ball. “You need much more practice in the ways of battling but that is not important now. You need to get your Sneasel back to the pokecenter right away!”

Riza didn’t know what to say so she just picked up Sneasel gently and held her in her arms. Tears began to stream down her cheeks as she ran back towards Mahogany Town, hoping that her Sneasel would be okay. ‘Damn that beedrill was so strong… man we have got a lot to learn…’ she thought, trying to push the thoughts out of her head. She needed to get sneasel to the pokecenter.
