"You assume too much then really. Sure I like keeping pests out of my territory, but you've proven that you aren't that much of a pest after all. One can never be too careful with who they invite into their home." He glanced at her for a second, returning the toothy grin. "A mere general term, my dear. Our kind aren't quite adapt to spending long periods of time with one another which often results in a bit of blood shed in the end. Although it seems from my observation that some Kalona are gathering together in close groups or 'families' as we speak."

Zulimar snorted. "I don't see anything wrong with that, really." she said finally, though she did make a bit of a face. "As long as there is a set hierarchy, I can see how it would be beneficial. Less chance of the foals being polluted by wrong ideas in the case they were to get lost by a parent and have the Others trying to reform them; More chance for the foals to be successful. They learn more than just their dam's way of doing things, they have multiple resources to pull from. And losing a little blood never hurt anyone." a shoulder shrugged. "We kalona are predators, yes, but even we have our enemies. We could consider our relations as... training."

Valar's grin grew a bit wider as she spoke. The way she talked it was like she was some know it all, this is the way it is kind of mare. "Everyone is our enemy. No matter how you toss it."
An eyebrow raised slightly as pondered the last bit of her little speech. "Training? I suppose. But apparently you know more than I do on the subject. So explain to me how it is that our relations should be considered as training?"

She smiled and snapped her teeth towards the end of his nose. "The two leggers use the phrase 'keep your friends close and your enemies closer.' Better to keep close the enemies you have more to fear from, hmm?" she raised an eyebrow. "And wouldn't you consider it training to be spending time fighting others of your own kind? Gladiator style... fights to the death." her tail lashed, and she looked pleased. "Or at least to extreme injury. I suppose we wouldn't last too long if we went around killing all of our own, would we?"

He didn't flinch as those sharp teeth came within inches of his nose. It only caused his grin to grow even more. "Ah. Then perhaps I should keep you around then? If that's the case." His tail lashed side to side a few times as he kept walking, it seemed like this path was taking forever to get through and by now, he had completly forgotten the reason they were going down this path. "Well, yea, if you spent that time fighting. Of course. Maybe not to extreme injury...you can still die from those types of things."

She raised her brow at his grin, turning her head to glare down the path. "Does this have an end, or are we following it straight into the center of the earth?" She didn't respond to his comment about keeping her around. She was a kalona, not an Other to be kept around like a dog. "Can we at least break legs?" she gave a little laugh and licked her lips. "Not bad enough to die from, and still incredibly painful."

"I'm sure it ends somewhere." He laughed in the back of his mind. Sometimes Valar could explain things till the sun went down. Other times he had a knack for being vague. "What? You want out little adventure to end so soon?" This time he chuckled lightly on the outside. "Breaking legs is perfectly fine. I've never known anyone to die from a broken leg. Well...except maybe my food but they get the broken leg before I kill them."

She broke into a trot, took a turn down a side path. The single, straight path was boring her. How could the stallion live down here? All around, rock. Stone. Things cold, and grey. She hadn't seen anything that looked at all fun to kill yet, either. Even the goats were on the outside!

He raised an eyebrow as she turned down a side path. Apparently the mare was bored, huh. Turning down a separate path that ran along the one she had taken. Nothing more than a few feet of rock between them. It would be easy for him to get ahead of her.
Little did Zuli know though, there were things deep within the tunnels to kill. And that tried to kill back. Although Valar wouldn't doubt that she'd probably run into one soon enough before he even got to the path that intersected the one she was on. They were deep enough within the mountain for such an occurance.

She followed the path quietly, adding the passages to her mental map carefully. A low growl reached her ears, but she ignored it, glancing down side passages, trying to make rough estimates of how the passages intersected, and met. She was careless, uncaring of the creature stalking her, until she was attacked. A roar as the large mountain cat sprang was her warning, and she screamed in rage as it landed on her back, clawing and tearing.
The passage was narrow! Too narrow for her to turn around, for her to take flight, and fling the creature off. Too short for her to rear, and toss the creature. Ribbons of blood dripped over her sides and she bent her head forward, taking the risk of exposing the back of her neck, springing as high as she could into the air. There was a thud as the animal's head collided with the low ceiling, and she bolted. She felt the creature fall from her back, and kept going. Blood, blood dripping, and she was going crazy with the smell of it. It smelled so good, but she couldn't stop to lick it from her legs. She needed to find a place where she could turn, where she could see!
It followed. She could hear the claws scraping the stone, the creature angry from its own pain, hungry, and sensing weakness.
It too was bleeding, and she could almost taste it on her tongue. It drew closer as she entered an area of the mountain that was wide, a cavern. She yanked to a stop, kicking the creature behind her with her back hooves as it leaped- a lucky shot, that sent the creature flying back into the passage. It gave her time to turn, to get her bearings, and take a look at the area.
The beast circled her, shaking its head, looking for an opening. Zulimar bared her teeth, hissing, eager. "Here kitty kitty." she whispered softly.

The sweet scent of blood arrived quickly to Valarauco's nose. His ears twitched as the memory of it's taste lingered in his mouth. The sweet, coppery taste. It took every ounce of strength he had at that moment to control himself. There was no reason for there to be blood here, unless...
Unless one of those creatures he was thinking about had attacked Zulimar. Or she had attacked it. Either way.
His pace quickened as he soon found the path that she had traveled. Blood drops on the ground and large mountain cat tracks. The lingering smell of blood drew him forward. The Kalona's heart pounding in his ears as he fought off the urge. The blood was calling to him. Like a wicked Siren. A sweet song that lulled him in.
It had felt like an eternity traveling down that path. Until he came upon a cavern. And there he saw it. The mountain cat and...Zuli. She was bleeding. And pretty badly. But he figured she wasn't paying too much attention to that at the moment.
Firey eyes watched the cat as it circled around her. And as soon as it had lept towards her, he rushed forward and snatched it out of the air with his large jaws. Sharp teeth ripping open it's belly as he shook it around. It was not as heavy as he'd thought it might be. Of course, it might of been malnourished. Not that many meals traveled this far into the tunnels.
That sweet taste of blood and guts flowed into his mouth. If he hadn't had his wits about him, he would of gone into an almost blood rage. His large wings flared out before he relaxed his jaw and let the creature fall to the rocky floor with a thud. Watching it in quiet curiosity as it screamed and growled. Its insides now moving to the outside of it's body.
How....nice.

The tawny body took to the air again, and Zulimar braced her body, tail whipping as she started to move forward. A flash of red, however, cut her fun in half- literally. Valarauco shot from the cave mouth, jaws clamping into the tender underbelly of the cat, throwing the beast to the cave floor. She gave an inarticulate scream of rage, front hooves slamming into the stone. Blood, everywhere blood. Her breath came out in a purr not far different from the growling sound the cat had made as it stalked her.
The creature was twitching. So helpless now. Adorable. She moved closer, circling the kill cautiously. Her body was burning hot, nostrils twitching. So good, it was filling her up. The scent of life. Death. No, no, don't approach another's kill without permission. First law of survival.
She made a little noise, a breathy little whine that came from the gut, moving in close to the stallion so that she could brush her side against his, turning behind him to come up beside him again, licking at his nose. "Valar... let me have it." She was shaking with need, with the desire for blood. She could feel it pitting in her belly, running through her. She'd do anything... "Please?"

The stallion had been oblivious to the mare's first reaction. But the moment she rubbed her body against his, he snapped back into reality.
Letting out a little grunt as she licked his nose, he raised a curious eyebrow at her. What was this mare? She went from a rampaging b***h to a needy little kitten in no time flat. Which amused him actually for a moment.
Valar's eyes shot a glance back down to the creature as it tried to cling to life before he moved away from Zuli and backed away. She'd owe him for this. That was for sure. Normally he wouldn't let anyone else claim something he killed, but right now the way she was acting, he'd let her have it.

As the stallion backed away, she pounced on the beast, tearing out its intestines, throwing them to the side in search of better meat. The creature screamed, swiping her weakly with a heavy paw, but she didn't notice it. She couldn't notice anything but the blood. It smelled so good. The last gasping breath of the creature under her made her jerk her head back, shuddering.
It was then that she started to notice the pain she was in. It hurt, and badly. She shook, let her head fall forward, trying to regain control over herself. Pain, mixed with the ecstasy of blood.
Wonderful.

Valar had by now turned his tail to the scene. Pushing down the beast that clawed at the back of his mind the best he could. If he looked at it, he might have snapped. It had been a while since he had anything to eat.
As the sound of ripping flesh ceased, he turned his head slightly to look over his shoulder. The wounds Zulimar had were easier to see at this angle. "Better now?" His voice was deep, rumbling from within his chest as he cast his question out there. Hopefully now she'd be back to her old self. The rubbing up against and licking of his nose had sent a wave of confusion and awkwardness through his mind.
