Oqaia "Oooh, evens. Luck's not entirely with you today!" Her right middle finger disappeared. "Play again? 10 a play, win back 100, second time finger and 200?" "aahh!" Tamlin hurriedly jumped back and brought her hand up to her face to look more closely. as she began stuttering in frantic worry
"wh.. wh.. what did you just do? what just happened! where is my finger!? y..you never said anything about lo..lo..losing fingers in the rules!"
it took her a few moments to regain her composure enough to return cautiously to the booth.
"I..I want my finger back, but i only played the game because it was free. i..if i had known, i.. i.. well, you can guess. and anyway.... I have no money to play again..."
she paused a moment and her countenance visibly changed from surprised and frightened to a steely anger "hey! even if i did have the money to play again what if i lose! you will just keep taking fingers! I dont see this as fair or good business, welcoming new comers with promises and cheery words, and neglecting to mention a rather important non-cannon rule into a common game of odds or evens! this is clearly a scam taking a finger from a free game and then we have no choice but to pay your 10 to try again and so on until we either win or have no more fingers!" she had just enough control close her mouth before her temper ran amok and crossed her arms across her small frame as she stared at the man glaring

Zak stared at his thumb, no not my thumb. lack of thumb. blow this for a lark. his right eye twitched a little "how much to buy back just my finger?" he looked at the gypsy who had no money "and hers?" he figured he could take this guy if he had to, not on his own account but it was mean to steal the fingers off a musician.

Menelie "Still free, eh?" muses Caroline. "An' whot happens if I get it wrong?" She asks shrewdly, one hand resting near her won couplets.Rojiza's sharp eyes widen as she watches fingers and thumbs disappear. Well! So much for playing that game. She watches her mother. She'd won 25 couplets, it seems. She wanders over to Caroline. He smiled. He and his friend, witchdoctors both. "Shrewd lil' gypsy. If you miss, you'll temporarily lose a memory. More y'forget, harder it makes it to answer questions. Playing again, are we? Bigger payout next win!"

Oqaia Elysia Kavanagh After a short discussion with Leax, Lorelei decided to puchase only the temporary sale and specialty items licenses. Anything else was overkill, even with Lorelei's couplet count. That was still 95 couplets! If they would need a hotel and hostel license, they could buy that later.
Shifting Vanna to her hip, Lorelei made her way into the port, listening to the sounds and holding on tight to Leax's hands. It smelled familiar; not quite like Tempranillo, but close enough.
"Where should we go first?" she asked, softly. Leax bit his lip. It was hard to see her like this- so blind. Not helpless... but still. Sightless. He was glad she couldn't see the look in his eyes. "Well, love, there's a rather sketchy fellow at a blanket on the sand, and another not a whiles away in a booth. The rest of your gypsy sisters are assembling around one or t'other. Want to see what one of them is up to?" "... See?" She smiled ruefully, squeezing his hand again. "I suppose... we can go find out. But can we hang back?" She had a cloak on again, like in Tempranillo - her face was still disfigured. "It will be hard for me to do much like this, anyway."
Vanna pouted, shaking her head. "No, momma! You pretty!"
Lorelei ruffled Vanna's hair. "Of course, sweetie. But some people aren't as perceptive as you are."

Taniel, meanwhile, made his way over to the man at the Blanket, though he didn't try to play. He knew better; he'd grown up in a city with enough potential conmen, and even the honest ones were dangerous.

Rojiza waggles her fingers in a little wave at Taniel before returning her attention to her mother. Would she still play? Caroline blinks, taken slightly aback. She hadn't been expecting that. "A memory, mm...?" For a moment she contemplates continuing. But then she glances at Ro. What if he made her forget Ro was her daughter? She shakes her head decisively. "No, thank ye. I'll take the twenty-five and be on m' way, if ye would."

Oqaia Oqaia X-Men Lover DeArca smiled and put two fingers down. "Evens" He said. "Evens tis. Here's your dice..." He held his fingers with the two cubes cupped inside between them and his palm, then shook his hand a twist and let the cubes fly along the table, where they settled near DeArca's fingers. "OOoooh, Odds. Boddikens, you gypsies is unlucky plumsuckers." DeArca's left index finger vanished, leaving no hole or remnant, nor a feeling there where the finger used to be. "Play again?" DeArca's eyes widened in fear as he saw his finger gone. "Nnn....Double or Nothing. Evens again...." he begged, wanting it back

Oqaia "A riddle for the ladies? Why certainly. Here tis: What does the flighted be saying, about what the goat be needin'?" [I'm going to go at this with the assumption that our OoC discussion of the fortunes transfers to IC]
Anezka looked up at her mother and then at the blanketman. She tilted her head and thought to herself, flighted...goat...well, bird, obviously...what did the bird say the goat needed? She huffed a bit, looking back up at her mother, who had a blank look on her face.
Putting her hand to the back of her head, she rubbed it, then shrugged them back down. Her eyes started to wander around as she thought, landing on Irina. "OH!" Goat...of course...it must mean Eerie. "Pest!...Irina's banya said that they needed a Pest...whatever that means." She looked at the man and bit her lip.

Zak was not thinking. thinking is never part of the process of getting really mad and hitting someone for taunting a lady.subconscious knowledge gleaned from some old wives tale might have been telling him that to undo a sorcery it was necessary to kill the caster but this was not so mutch a thought, as background noise to blind rage.
Zak aimed for boothman's throat with his fingers curled into what someone with an education in these things that involved words instead of brawls would have called a tiger's paw.

Irina headed down to the boardwalk, noticing the two games that several from her caravan were playing. She laughed as she watched fingers disappear, and Kal and Eerie nosed their way through the crowd to get closer to the scene. Eerie seemed appalled, eyes widening as he heard the shouts of those with missing digits, jaw dropped open. Kal, on the other hand, was rolling with laughter, almost as if she knew it was some sort of illusion. She looked over to her brother, and poked him in the side, in an attempt to coax him into laughing. Sadly, it didn't work.
Turning their attention to the man on the blanket after a few good chuckles, the trio walked up and listened as Anezka answered her riddle. "Ah! You've listened! I am looking for some kind of Pest, this is true," she nodded, wondering how this man knew of the banya fortune.
"Excuse me sir, but how do you know about my banya? If that is in fact the answer to the riddle..."

He forked over the couplets. "Want to play again? Winner gets 200, PLUS the digit back." DeArca's index finger was still gone.
