Jeni relaxed her stance, once Valerye had been let go, so something was up here, that would make it harder to find the answers they sought.
"You ok?" she asked Valerye, she still did not trust the elf entirely, afterall she'd just taken one of her school mates hostage.

((If no one else volunteers, I'd be fine with taking over your chara for you Mei. I was thinking about making my own human-person in this rp... ))

((That would really be appreciated. Thanks. Er, kurohime_ito? You did it again.))

"More or less." Valerye replied. "But I'm still famished." She eyed the new elf, then looked at Marael. "What say you?"

((I would take your character Mei, but I've already got two...kinda...sorry! And who is Karariv? eek ))

Marael relaxed slightly as the elf released Valerye and lowered her weapon. She gave a sigh and likewise sheathed her sword, then studied the elf's eye color and posture. She didn't completely trust the elf, although she seemed sincere. Something in her eyes just before she released Valerye bothered Marael, although she couldn't put her finger on it. She flipped the knife in her right hand over so she was holding the handle again and sheathed it in one fluid motion. She then likewise gave a small almost-bow to the elf.

"I am Maraelia and these are my companions." She gestured to the group scattered in the nearby area. Behind the elf, Gabe made a low noise and brushed past the elf to stand next to Marael. "This is Gabe." She said, giving the panther a pat. Marael looked around the woods a moment, noting how dark it was getting. She gave a sigh and nodded to the elf.

"We accept your offer of shelter then, Guardian." She hesitated and glanced around to make sure there were no arguments, then looked back at the elf. "What are you called?"

Emmiadora studied the elven woman's take to her actions and was sensing that the majority here were still uncertain of her. This was to be expected, but she made a note to do her best to earn their true forgiveness. She tried to smile reassuringly. Gabe's retreat to his master's side finally let the flame that still flickered within Emmia's hand snuff out now that she didn't feel as threatened. She watched as Mareal also put away her weapons, then looked up, being torn from the distraction as Marealia spoke.
As she mentioned her name, as well as Gabe's, Emmia nodded in understanding. Then felt almost embarassed that she had not told them her own. Her eyes flashed to a light pink before settling once more into the usual orange.
"Ah, yes of course... My name is Emmiadora Diami of--" she caught herself just as the name formed in her mouth. She'd almost forgotten. "--Bredia, at your service. One of the guardians of the city, as you now know." she said with a bit of an apoligetic grin as she spoke the last sentence.

((Ok, I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say we shouldn't let anyone else in until Destiny gets back. Just for the sake of confusion. If we let another in, where would we draw the line? Three more? four more? If so many people just jump in (like Karaviv) it will simply cause more confusion. Of sourse, that's just my take on it.))

Luke, whos sword never left it's sheathe, simply stares in awe of the new elf...fire? in her hand? Well, this is interesting, indeed! He even failed to hold attention to any part of the conversation until she snuffed it after Gabe came out of the bushes.
...huh...I wonder if it's just elves who can do that...
Luke has always dreamed of powers. When he was little, he was a comic book boy, living his own secret life as a super hero, defending the good, defeating the bad...The realization that this land holds beings with the powers he'd imagined for so long gives an entirely new interest to this world. But now his mind tunes in to the last part of the conversation. He steps over behind Marael and Gabe.
"I'm simply following you guys."

((Karaviv is one of kurohime_ito's other RP character. I'm sure she meant to put Jeni down.))

"Emmiadora?" Valerye murmured to herself. She was somewhat glad that Emmiadora had put out the flame. What if the whole forest had caught on fire? Valerye struck the thought out. "She noticed the slight change of tone in the other elf's voice, and suspected something to be... different. "Bredia... Hm." Valerye felt a really hungry and exhausted. She assumed that it was the new air and the stress. "I'm for it." She said, though she was still cautious of Emmiadora.

(ooc - Karariv is from this other RP I'm doing, I just happen to mix the her up with Jeni everynow and then, so if you see me write Karariv, tell me and I'll correct it)

Jeni was still cautious, but she was also tired and hungry, and the elf had put the flame out.
"I see no problems with that idea, we all need food and rest." she wanted someone else to explain what had happened to them, she was no diplomat, she was a fighter and that was how she wanted to stay.

((Alright, we see your point Rhapsody. No one else.

But another thing, about my last rp post. When Emmia paused and it said she'd almost forgotten, that's supposed to mean as if she was about to say something besides Bredia then realized it and corrected herself. A bit of foreshadowing that I want in there, just in case I made it hard to understand. Sorry about that. Anywho... carry on!))
PostPosted: Fri Aug 03, 2007 8:04 pm

((I totally agree with Rhapsody! You took the words outta my mouth!))

Marael noticed Emmiadora's hesitation before she said she was of Bredia, but she let it slide. It was not that important. If it came to a fight, she was certain that they would win. By sheer odds if not skill. Of course, she hoped it didn't come to that, but it was still a comforting thought.

She nodded to the others and then turned back to Emmiadora.

"Well, it seems we all agree. Why don't you lead the way?" She said, with another small bow. It was probably rude to ask Emmiadora to lead, but Marael still didn't really trust the elf.

Somewhere deep down she wondered why she was suddenly so protective, but she pushed the question aside without further examination. Her eyes flicked around at the group and then back to Emmiadora. They were her responsibility until Bredia Village. Then she would hand them over to an educated official, who could send them home. Marael and Gabe would then be free to continue their travels. It was what she wanted. Wasn't it? She mentally shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. Gabe flicked his tail and gave Marael a thoughtful look before walking over to sit near Luke again, clearly voicing his vote. She gave a sigh.

((Just so everyone notices, my name is spelled like Marael...not Mareal. lol, it's pronounced kinda like the second, though, so I see the confusion, and it's not a problem. Virtually everyone I've met does it...I just wanted to make a note.))

((Crap... that'd be me that always spells it wrong, huh? Sorry about that. I know how ya feel though, same thing happens to me, with both username and real name.))

Emmia understood why she'd be the one to lead. Of course, she knew, that if in the situation Marael was that she herself would do the same. it was the wiser choice after what had just happened. Now Emmia carried a twinge of guilt. This wasn't normal for her, and plunged her into her own thoughts as she nodded before turning to lead them on.
There were still questions about this group that she'd yet to receive answers. Like why or how they were here, and most importantly what exactly these creatures were, if not elves. As she waited to hear their footsteps following her, she decided to save these and other curious questions for later. For now, they must walk, and get there fast.

"Right then. Do watch your step and keep to your wits. The longer we are out in the forest at this time of night the more attention you'll bring to the local nocturns. You are rather lucky it was me you ran into rather than..." she paused and looked back at the non-elves for a breif moment, her eyes flickered almost purple. "... well, let's just get moving." And she left it at that.
Seeing that it might be easier for them to see as the darkness set in even more by the minute, her hand was set ablaze once more. But this time she raised it a little above her shoulders to cast the light back towards them. However, regardless of how close any plant got to her flame, it never burned nor caught fire.

((Hey, sorry if I seemed a bit hostile towards Karaviv. No hostilities were meant. I was just a bit frustrated yesterday.))

Luke falls back into step, Gabe back at his side. He smiles down at the panther.
Well, at least one friend has come out of this.
Luke marvels over the fact that he's almost glad he came through the door. That's when he notices a light cutting through the darkness ahead of them.
Fire?
Sure enough, the newest elf had engulfed her hand in fire again. Luke is simply captivated by this.
I wonder...
Luke looks down at his hand...
...Hmmm...
He makes a fist and concentrates, tensing his arm...nothing happens. He snaps his fingers, hoping desperately for a spark...but nothing happens. He sighs heavilly and continues silently in step.

"We've already run into something." Jeni said, remembering the monster from earlier, "In broad daylight too, but I guess it couldn't cope with more than one opponant at the same time."
She continued to follow Emmia through the woods, keeping to the back, so other students did not fall behind.
She could now start to hear other noises, in the distance, noises that came from people.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 04, 2007 4:12 pm

Emmia turned, taken off guard by Jeni's comment. That wasn't normal for something to attack during the day. Of course this forest was always a little dangerous, but the daywalkers were usually the kind sort of animals. Not easily angered nor quick to attack. Especially not with an elf around foreign or not. She tried to shrug it off and not alarm them to how much this news had effected her. It wasn't important... or at least, she hoped not. This was not something she'd been warned about and she intended to find out why once they arrived.
"Really, now? How odd, I wouldn't have expected any trouble for you during the day." she said cooly, keeping her voice casual and even. She turned back and kept her pace, her still lit and held high. But she had noticed in the corner of her vision that one of the boys was trying something odd with his hand, and had been staring in her direction. It took her a second to make the connection and smiled a little to herself as she led the way. If he was going to be here for long, she knew he'd catch on to the magick as well. Maybe she would even help... but now wasn't the time.

As Jeni had now noticed, the air was indeed being filled with the not too distant sounds of the city. The familiar rumble of it sent a rushing feeling through Emmia's stomach that widened her smile even more. They were almost there. Even now she could just barely see the specks of fairy lights between the trees.
"It's only just ahead of us now..." she said over her shoulder.

"It's only just ahead of us now..."

A few minutes later the city came into view, Jeni stopped and gasped, it was like nothing she'd ever seen before, even in a book.
It was busy, and all of the inhabitants were elves.
"Whoa, this is . . . new." it was all she could think of saying at the time.
