I loved the book, of course (I can never HATE a Harry Potter book), but what I thought was that Lupin and Tonks' death wass kind of...out of no where. I mean, she (Rowling) just describes the Great Hall looking like some kind of morgue, and then it's like, "Oh, and Lupin died. So did Tonks." I wanted to know details!!
And the epilogue was...lacking detail, but better than nothing at all, I think.

Yeah, but what I didn't like was Fred's death, that was just uncalled for. Lupin, I always thought he would die, I didn't think that any of the four friends would survive(Prongs, Moony, Wormtail, and Padfoot) overall I felt that the book lacked alot.

Jo said on her website she always expected one of the twins to die(Fred if I remember correctly). I didn't think she'd kill off so many characters though, literally cried when I read Dobby's death. I'm such a little girl when it comes to innocent characters dying.

I still don't really like the epilogue, I just think it lacked a lot of detail that she's now going over in interviews. She should have just put it in the book!

Yeah, but still, I don't see why she had to do it.... if it had to be a weasly then better Ginny then Fred.

She (Rowling) couldn't kill Ginny because Ginny marries Harry. I guess she could have had Harry marry some one else or not get married, but that would have messed everything up.

I liked the book, but I didn't really like the epilogue that much. It needed more detail and more information about other characters. And seriously, naming Ron and Hermione's kids Hugo and Rose. I think she could have come up with better names than that. (I know some people like those names, but I don't) And same with Harry and Ginny's kids. I know there is a meaning behind those names, but she could have been a bit more creative.

I really did like the book though, just not that part of it.

About the deaths...

I was sad when Dobby died. crying Also, I was OK about Fred dying (I was a bit sad though because I liked the twins and now they can't be the twins any more), but I don't think Lupin AND Tonks should have both died. One of them should have lived. I know loads of people have said this, but it's the orphan thing all over again. Urgh.

I guess, I suppose that my reasons are that I never really felt any attachment to Ginny, except that she just got in the way. I actually felt closer to Cho, it would've been nice if Harry married her instead.... although I can see a few complications with that. and I agree about the names, she could've done a lot better then that.

i don't like at all harry marrying ginny, i don't like cho too. Do you know that JK Rowling will make a HP encyclopedia, she will write more about harry ending.

Yea, I heard, I'm definitely gonna get it. The seventh book left way too many loose ends.

I was disappointed by a lot of things in the seventh book. Hedwig died, that made me sad, Dobby died, that made me sad, the other characters dying, those made me sad. But she told us in many interviews that there would be many deaths in the seventh book, and to expect some major characters to die.

She did leave many loose ends, and didnt explain things like we all hoped but when you think about it, she left it open to be written about.... Teddy Tonks: The Lost Years at Hogwarts. Many books can be written about those 19 years that were not covered. But will she allow anyone to write about them?

After the Razzing Bellatrix got at the Malfoy's table about the state of her family mixing with a werewolf and her vowing to prune the family tree at the first opportunity.

The Battle of Hogwarts was her first opportunity and her wand reflected her personality. Ollivander noted that it was unyielding. I'm sure she targeted Lupin the moment she saw him and naturally Tonks most likely stepped up to avenge her husband against a much more powerful witch.

Personally, I think that Bellatrix Lestrange and Severus Snape were about equally the second most powerful magic users after Dumbledore. I also think that Voldemort knew it and was secretly affraid of them both. He kept Bella downtrodden a little and kept Snape at arm's length.

I would definitely agree with you there Jadams!! Bellatrix and Snape were quite intelligent and powerful. However, I actually thought it was cute that I made an intelligent assumption about Snape and Lilly! I always thought he had a soft spot. I mean why else would a teacher loathe a student, unless there wasn't a love triangle going on--I mean it just doesn't happen. Besides that point, in POA you see lots of clues and references to James, and Snape making rude comments about him.

On an different note. I just finished reading the whole series again. The one main problem I have had all along with the whole story is the underlying theme that good guys don't kill. There are countless scenes in the books where a Death Eater is shooting the Kadavra curse at someone and they are shooting back with stupify. What?!

Specifically, in the room of hidden things. Crabbe says. " It's the Mudblood Granger! Avada Kadavra!" Harry gets so mad he forgets himself and shoots a stunner at Crabbe which misses. HUH? If someone was shooting a killing curse at my best friend, I would also get angry, but I would at least hit him with "Crucio!" or some other harmful curse. This was a war and the good guys are saying. " If you try to kill me again I will make it really unpleasant for you by stunning you."

It's like your country sending you off to war and they tell you the enemy has automatic weapons, RPGs, and Biological weapons that they will use to try and end your life at every opportunity so be careful. Here's you stun gun. I would hand it back and say good luck with that.
