James had been expecting to be attacked, and he was ready for it. Spinning his own blade around, he deflected all ten shots that Rainer had thrown in his direction. They flew back in the firer's position, but flew silently to the ground. It was frustrating beyond re-pore. It was indeed Rainer attacking him, but she was being controlled by something else. How as he supposed to fight one of his favorite students?
At the same time, from behind his own desk, Alister kicked up his own Gun Blade and used it to block the black energy arching in his direction. Had it been any other weapon, it would have shattered, but Alister had had the blade magically enchanted to protect himself. At the same time, he cast the Wall spell upon himself and James to give them a bolstered defense.
"Mimi, move!" James called out to her. But there was no time; she had to be moved now. So, a fireball caught her so hard in the side that it threw her up against the wall of the office, "Mimi, I'm sorry. Doomtrain, NOW!"
Everyone but Rainer was warped out of the office as the entire room went dark. Black Flames, separated evenly, lead off into the darkness. And then, a train horn echoed through the area. The lights upon Doomtrain could now be seen, and the smoke bellowed. The Horn sounded against the darkness still, continuing to echo.
"Rainer..." James said as calmly as possible, although the pain in his voice was apparent, "...I'm sorry. RUNAWAY TRAIN!"
Doomtrain's horn sounded again. He was getting closer to Rainer now; his lights were getting brighter. Twice the horn sounded; he was almost on top of her now. Thrice times the horn sounded; Doomtrain hit Rainer with full force. Several poor status aliments hit Rainer hard, save a few that James asked Doomtrain to hold back. Blind, Silence, Slow, and Meltdown all attached themselves to Rainer. James was hoping that it would be enough to slow her down, but he wasn't sure. He readied himself for the opposing attack, just in case.
"Sorceress!" James's voice bellowed through the office as everyone returned, the traces of Doomtrain slowly disappearing, "Let Rainer go! You have no more business here!"
Alister merely watched as James battled. It was shocking to him to see his friend able to handle so much even after the attack on Deling. He too was ready for another attack, though. He had to be. It was an innate instinct for him any more.
((Ha! This one is as long as the others!))

||Ah, Yaku-Chan, I did want you in the barrier, but I see Maker has kinda taken care of that.... sweatdrop ||
"you are all such evil little seedlings," seethed the Sorceress aloud. Her voice, normally soft and melodious, took on a harsher and dangerous tone. "you think your petty little guardians will help you against a sorceress?" The Sorceress held up her hand, stretching it toward the oncoming Doom Train. As it passed, the status ailments parted before her hand and disappated into the air harmlessly. Rainer's mouth cracked into a cold grin and her eyes glittered. "i still have much business here, little man," the Sorceress snarled at James. "this man is meant to die this night, and die he will!" Throwing down Rainer's gunblade, the Sorceress stood tall and cast another barrier around Mimi and the others. "don't interefere with a sorceress' work, seedling," she hissed. The Sorceress rounded on Alister. "you just stand there, little man, and let your seedlings defend you. why do you not fight?" the Sorceress asked, tilting her head slightly. Rainer's arm lifted again and pointed itself at Alister while the other pointed at James. "do not interefere with me, little man," she directed at James. "i have no time for your petty attacks." From both hands black energy grew and crackled before launching themselves at both men. Before they had even reached their destination, the gunblade was back in Rainer's hands. The Sorceress launched herself at Alister just as the bolt of energy reached him, and she slashed at him while squeezing off several rounds.

((OoC: Ah! sweatdrop Sorry Obsidian. And thanks Maker! I'll keep outta' the way. xd ))
Mimi, as she took a step, glanced to the left at Jame's voice. Feeling the GF take form and the blast of fire coming towards her, she gritted her teeth and on a reflex, swung her blade around to defend herself. The fire burned strongly, but Mimi had cast a spell on her blade just in time.
The flames licked around the metal, as if trying to burn her, as the force of the attack pushed her back, slamming her into a wall. She winced as she slid to the ground and slammed the point of her blade into the ground. Glancing down, she noticed that her reflex had been slightly off, as there was a singe mark in the side of her shirt. With a scowl, she cursed the sorceress as the blasted woman cast another barrier.
With slight trepidation, she could only sit and watch as James and Alistar tried to defend themselves. She knew Alistar could fight. They didn't just place anybody in the position of Headmaster these days. But . . . a sorceress? Mimi wracked her mind, trying to pull stories that she had been told back to memory. Those Galbadian bastards. They didn't know when to stop interferring in things that had more power than themselves, things they couldn't control. You'd think that they would've learned their lesson by now.
But no.
With a sigh, Mimi turned back to glance at Rainer. Whatever rumors they were - one was true. Most sorceresses were egotistical and megolomaniacs.

Meanwhile, Galbadia Garden slowly approached Balamb Garden from behind. The Galbadian commander was leading his small army of one thousand in an attack against Balamb Garden. His orders were to let his troops distract the enemy while he backed up the Sorceress and got Rainer out of Balamb Garden unharmed.
"Don't know why she's so important," he sulked. A grunt ran up to the commander.
Saluting, he reported, "Five minutes until impact, Sir." The commander nodded and the grunt scurried away.
The commander turned to his troops. They were situated in the stadium where Sorceress Edea first battled the SeeDs before regaining control of her powers and body.
The commander stood at the balcony and addressed his quiet, well-trained troops.
"You all know we worked hard toward this goal. The goal to conquer. Who knew our first job would be the almighty Balamb Garden?"
A series of cheers went up, though they were quickly quieted down by the commander.
"We go in there to fight, we go in there to kill, we go in there to conquer! We will do our job with ease and joy! This is what we were all trained to do! We will go down in history as the brave heroes who brought down Balamb Garden, mightiest of them all!"
The troops down below roared their excitement and agreement. The commander's smirk was hidden by his helmet as he gazed down. Most of these troops probably wouldn't make it, but they would serve their purpose.
Soon enough, Galbadia crashed into Balamb Garden, causing everyone in it to jolt unsteadily and cry out in surprise and fear. The Galbadian troops quickly infiltrated the Garden, taking the occupants by surprise. Most SeeDs weren't ready for battle and fell quickly as a result. However, many senior SeeDs made it to their rooms and were able to get their weapons in time.
A small platoon of Galbadian soldiers, the commander at their head, made their way to the elevator where they all squeezed inside. As soon as the elevator dinged open on the third floor, they were out and, weapons drawn, attacking Mimi, Beatriz and Isaac, but gave Rainer, Alister and James a wide berth, though the barrier had nothing to do with it. The commander slipped to the side and hid in the shadows, waiting for Rainer. It just wouldn't do if he were killed. After that, who would spirit Rainer away?

The tremor that passed through Balamb Garden caused Mimi to stand hurriedly. Glancing towards the wooden doors to the office, she hesitated and glanced back at James and Alistar. With a scowl of indecision, she tried to figure out what to do. Reluctantly, she deemed that Alistar could fare for himself. Throwing open the doors to make room into the secretaries area and the hallway from the elevator, Mimi was enraged to see Galbadian soldiers, among them, a few Galbadian Garden members.
Her rage billowed out and a glint of recklessness and rashness entered her eyes. Raising her blade, she slashed out at the first soldier to reach her. His metal staff blocked her own before she slide her blade down his shaft, making him move his hands. This loosened his hold on the staff and Mimi kicked it away, slashing at the man's mid-riff. This was not the time for mercy.
Not looking to see how the other's were fairing, she tried to make her way towards the elevator. It was necessary that she get to the lower levels. Without the headmaster, there was only a few who could help control the defense of Balamb Garden. A blade caught her across the cheek, and the same blade suddenly lay on the ground, in the hands of it's injured - if not dead - opponent. Mimi glanced back before reaching a flight of emergency stairs beside the elevator. It seemed that the soldier's were giving James, Alistar, and Rainer a rather wide berth.
Hoping that all would end well, Mimi dashed down the stairs, skipping as many steps as possible. Finally reaching the first level, she dashed out into a throng of fighting. Glancing through one of the many windows, she saw the large form of Galbadia Garden pillared against Balamb. Without giving anyone time to fight her, Mimi dashed off for the control room. Passing the infirmary, she saw a number of Balamb trainees carrying the injured to the doctor.
Reaching the control hall for Balamb, Mimi placed her hand against a panel and quickly entered, letting the security doors shut behind her. Running the metallic hall, she reached another pair of doors and pushed them open. A gun was suddenly pointed at her and she swatted it aside. "It's me!" Glancing at the control panel engineer, a short, stout woman with a rather stern face. Mimi gestured to the controls. "Can you bring me onto the intercom?"
"Yes. Of course. But . . . where is the Headmaster?"
"He's preoccupied. We have to organize the SeeD teams so that we can get Galbadia out." The woman nodded determindly and pressed a number of buttons before bringing a speaker to Mimi. Mimi glanced up and saw a number of screens - security cameras - flash by periodically. To the left was an extremely large window that allowed her to see outside. Next to the window was a door that led to an outside balcony high up on the sides of Balamb Garden.
Holding the speaker, a plan began to formulate across Mimi's mind as she spoke. "SeeD members of Balamb! I need formations A and B to guard Balamb's main entrance. Formations C and E dispose of all Galbadian infiltrators. Remaining formations . . . defend all of Balamb Garden's entrances!" Glancing up at the screen, Mimi was glad to see that the formations were organizing and making their way towards the entrances after disposing of a number of individuals. Setting down the speaker, Mimi had a determined look plastered across her face.
She was not going to let Balamb Garden fall, not today.
Glancing at the woman, she nodded grimly. "Thanks." The woman nodded and reached for the speaker. "I'll keep the SeeD formations organized. You do what you need to do." With that, Mimi gave a brief nod of assent before dashing out the balcony door. As she did, wind swept into her face, loosing stray strands of hair. Glancing over, she could see a ladder reaching up towards the top of Balamb, arching over it's curved architecture. Reaching for the ladder, Mimi began to climb with Bahamut's roar in her mind . . . which soon the Galbadians would be able to hear.

((This...is by far...the longest post I've ever made in this Role Play. I win! I think it's the longest one too. xd Sorry about that... sweatdrop ))
Alister was ready for Rainer's oncoming attack. He kicked up his own Blade and used it to defend against the oncoming bullets. At the same time, his Wall Spell countered the blast of magical energy. He met the sorceress head on as she charged, using his own strength and weight over Rainer to throw her back. With her having been pushed back, Alister then quite literally threw his weapon in her direction. He didn't expect much to come of it, and if it did it wouldn't be pleasant, but now was not the time for mercy.
Alister opened a drawer of his desk and pulled out two curved blades. The handles were made of steel, with the blade protruding from them. They traveled out a short ways, and then arched before straightening out to a point again. The Headmaster held the weapons so that the extra area of the curve rested against his arms. They were called double crescent blades, much faster then a Gun Blade and much more dangerous if used by the proper attacker.
James on the other hand, had taken note of the oncoming Galbadian Soldiers. He was worried what would happen to the others students. Isaac and Beatriz hadn't really moved...they were still watching the fight. Of course, it wouldn't take long for them to take charge and defend the office. The secretaries were hardly trained to fight.
"Beatriz, Isaac!" James called out to them, "Your primary goal is to defend the secretaries to the Headmaster. They don't have weaponry and they aren't trained for fighting. Defend them, and keep each other alive!"
Mimi was gone before James had shouted any orders though. He contemplated where she could have gone, and then heard her voice over the intercom. It was a relief to hear her call the Balamb SeeD, some of the most dangerous and well trained, into action. The garden was going to need all the help that they could get.
Thank gods. James said to himself, Mimi, you're brilliant.
Focusing now back on the battle, James cast Hastega and he and Alister. They were going to need all the buffs that they could manage in order to fight a sorceress. Without the buffs, the two were barely holding their own. With the added spells and enchantments, it would be a close call as to who won the fight.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile, thousands of miles away, back at Esthar Garden, the Headmaster there contemplated what he would do next. He sent Rainer, Isaac, and Beatriz all with wire traces and cameras before they left Balamb. He was enjoying what he saw, of course. If he were lucky, Alister Sonestark and James Gunnar would be killed by a lower rank SeeD, and with their deaths Balamb Garden would fall. But James and Alister were holding their own, and so it made him nervous.
What if Rainer fails? He thought to himself, Esthar Garden will be in a dire place indeed if Rainer fails in the mission that she had been given.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All around the main floor the SeeD formations were scrambling to their positions. They followed Mimi's orders exactly as they had been given. Formations A and B made their way to the Main Entrance of the Garden. Getting there was half the fun, though. Many of the opposing soldiers flooded in through there, seeing as the Garden was currently stationary. But, A and B had been trained to work as one well oiled unit in combat. Not one of their members fell, and once the two small formations made it to the Entrance they held it with ease.
Formations C and E had a bit of a harder task. They had to travel the garden, weapons in hand, to locate and eliminate any Galbadians that managed to break through the lines. It was easy enough, of course, because of the Galbadian uniforms, to find them, but eliminating them was a bit harder. They always traveled in sets of three at least. So, occasionally, one of the fighters in C or E would fall, but the casualties were minimal.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Have we received word from Balamb Garden recently?" asked the Headmaster of the White SeeD Garden, "It's not like them to leave us in the dark."
"We haven't, sir." A young man replied, looking over several instruments, "Do you think we ought to send word to them?"
"No." replied the Headmaster, "If Alister hasn't sent word to us yet, something is wrong. Dispatch a unit of SeeD members to travel to Balamb's last known location. It was just outside Deling, wasn't it?"
The same young man examined his instruments before saying, "Sir, based on our most recent satellite images, Balamb Garden still resides outside Deling. The anomaly in question was Galbadia Garden! They probably engaged Balamb by now! Is one unit going to be enough?"
"One is all that we can manage." The Headmaster kept calm, "With the recent attacks that have been happening to all the gardens, we need our men here. One unit will be enough."
The same young men sent a message over the intercom to inform a unit of White SeeD that they were being dispatched to Balamb. They gathered their weaponry and made their way to an attack boat. It wouldn't take long for them to reach Balamb, and from there the White SeeD would easily be able to aid the Garden SeeD in defending their home.

||Ooooh. You're terrible! biggrin Aw, man. I think yours is still longer! crying ||
Furious, the Sorceress fell back and reached her hand up just in time to deflect the oncoming blade. As soon as the gunblade came into contact with the Sorceress' hand, it shattered. All the sharp, tiny pieces showered over Alister and James. The hilt and trigger of the gunblade fell to the ground with a clatter. The Sorceress kicked it away before either of the men could try to grab it.
Before the Sorceress could go on, her eyes began to burn. Rainer's green eyes, already darkened, were starting to change color. The Sorceress blinked back tears, amazed that she was already influencing Rainer's body to undergo physical changes. When a Sorceress inhabited a body for a long time, the invaded body would undergo changes to look like the Sorceress. Usually, that took weeks. But now it was happening within minutes! Through the pain, the Sorceress grinned evilly at the two men.
"you may think you had an upper hand, filthy little seedlings, but now you don't. rainer here is undergoing a transformation here, and soon enough she will resemble me! after that, i will be more powerful in her body, and will make all this magic seem like child's play!"
Rainer's eyes, dark green, darkened even more into the deepest black. The Sorceress lowered herself onto her knees in pain, though in her momentary weakness, she erected a barrier around herself. However, she made it too big and the barrier rested on James' foot, allowing him to enter the barrier without harm.
The Sorceress was too busy to notice this while Rainer's bodily features changed as well. Rainer's black eyes started to lighten, first to white, then to white-gold, the color of all Sorceress' eyes. Her hair started to lighten, but only just.
Soon, the pain was unbearable even to the Sorceress. She tilted her head back and let out a scream. This time, it was in Rainer's voice.
_____________________________________________________________
Back in Galbadia Garden, the headmaster watched the attack on Balamb Garden through the window in his office. His dark eyes were hooded, and they remained cool and impassive as they witnessed the onslaught of the Galbadians.
Behind him, some distance away from him and his desk, was a bed. On it, a Sorceress writhed and opened her mouth in a silent scream. Her long silken hair fanned out beneath her, its white color blending in with the white linen sheets below her. Her hands grasped at the sheets, seeking solace from the pain. Her white-gold eyes were wide open as she stared into nothingness and beyond.
Sighing impatiently, the headmaster turned to face the Sorceress and leaned against the window.
"Surely this transformation is happening too soon?" he asked. The Sorceress didn't reply. Rather, she was in such pain that she couldn't reply.
"This is bad," said a voice from a corner. The speaker was another Sorceress. She was dressed in a long, purple-black dress. The sleeves didn't end at her wrist; they covered her hands in imitation of gloves, and tapered down into sharp points at the end of her fingers, giving them a claw-like look. Her white-gold eyes glittered brilliantly.
"If the girl is changing so soon, so early, she must be of Sorceress blood."
The headmaster's eyes hardened and his mouth thinned.
"How is that possible? She has no parents and there were never any records of Sorceress' having children."
The Sorceress shook her head.
"Of course it wouldn't be recorded you moron. Sorceress' don't bear children with Sorceress powers. That is an unprecedented event." The Sorceress shook her head, her raven hair shifting slightly. "A Sorceress' powers pass on from her to another, and you never know who may be the next. From the looks of Azhure, she's passing on her powers to the girl." The Sorceress approached Azhure who had ceased moving. Her eyes dimmed and blackened. After a moment, they turned green. The Sorceress' heart fell.
"It's really happening," she whispered. "Azhure's really passing on her powers."
Azhure's hair turned gray, then darkened to black. After that, Azhure's eyes relaxed and finally closed. Her breathing slowed as she fell asleep.
The standing Sorceress sighed sadly.
"Now Azhure is human again, and has no control over Rainer." Tears welling in her bright eyes, she looked up at the ceiling. "She is no longer my sister."
The headmaster watched the two women awhile, then turned back to his soldiers. They were falling back, the Balamb SeeDs overwhelming them with a sort of battle formation.
Soon he turned away and, ignoring the women, sent word to his secretary to get Galbadia Garden moving and away from this hell hole.
_____________________________________________________________
Meanwhile, Rainer fell to the ground in an unceremonious heap. Her hair, now white, fanned out behind her. Rainer, back in control of her body, curled into a fetal position. The pain was nearly gone, but a stinging sensation remained. Rainer's eyes were clenched shut, sore from the light and the transformation.
The barriers Azhure had put up soon melted and disappated. Alister's gunblade pieced itself back together and lay on the floor, good as new.
The Galbadian commander grimaced. This was not in the plans! It was time to go. He quickly darted out from his hiding place and streaked across the room. However, before he could reach the door, he fell to the ground, gasping in pain. His tortured eyes were riveted on Rainer as she unknowingly killed the man.
_____________________________________________________________
Down below, the Galbadian army was falling. Most of the large force was gone, and stragglers fell to Balamb SeeD hands. The Galbadians watched in horror as their Garden slowly slid away from them. They soon realized that they were merely sacrifices for their Headmaster, and they soon gave themselves up to the Balamb SeeDs. In minutes, the Galbadians were killed and the injured Balamb SeeDs were being treated in the infirmary. Twenty-two Balamb SeeDs fell that day, and they were greatly mourned. Balamb Garden started to creak as it glided away from Deling and moved out to the ocean where they had less enemies.

((It's hard to say which one was indeed longer, Obsidian. I think it was really close! xd ))
James glided over to where Rainer now lay heaped upon the floor. His favorite student, his best student, reduced to near nothingness with such excruciating pain that he couldn't even begin to imagine. He knelt beside her and raised her head onto his knees. He stroked her hair and the side of her face softly, doing his best to calm her down. He looked at her in a way that a father would look at his fallen child, doing his best to comfort them. Some might have gone as far as to say he looked upon Rainer as a lover would look upon another.
"Are you with me, Rainer?" James asked in a soothing voice, "Rainer, are you with me?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Down below, the mourners moved the bodies of the dead to their respective dorms. It was the least they could do for the dead. If they allowed the dead to rest in the areas that they knew as home, their souls would pass peacefully onto the next world, or so that was the thinking anyway.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The White SeeD combat ship arrived outside Deling as Balamb Garden hit the water and went on its way. The SeeD ship followed, of course. They had to carry out the rest of their mission. The Headmaster of the White SeeD Garden would want to know, fully, what happened even though the fight was already over.
The ship traveled along side the Garden for some time, relaying messages with the people in the control room. They didn't need to board the Garden to find out what was happening or had happened. Once they had their fill of information, they went on their way. It wasn't necessary for them to stay, so they made their way back toward the White SeeD Garden.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"James," Alister finally spoke to his friend, "Take Rainer down to the Infirmary. I recognize those changes, and I fear what may happen to your favorite student."
James did as he was told. He picked up Rainer and cradled her in his arms. She was nothing compared some of the other things that he had lifted. Beckoning to Isaac and Beatriz, he bade them follow to the infirmary. From there, he stepped out of the office and headed to the elevator.
Alister, however, did not follow. He walked to the center of the office where his Gun Blade now sat. He bent down to pick it up, and it was indeed back in one piece and fully functional. How, he did not know. He contemplated what would happen next as he moved back to his desk and replaced the crescent blades into their drawer.
He sighed before saying, "James, my dear friend, you are in for a terrible, terrible time if you choose to stick with Rainer now. But you will, won't you? It's not like you to abandon your students for anything."

||Well, we'll just have to wait for another huge event, because now I'm nearly out of creative juices. I can't even reply in my other RPs! crying ||
Deep in the recesses of Rainer's mind, she battled to regain her consciousness and her sanity. The Sorceress Azhure had pushed Rainer's consciousness so far back that she had trouble regaining control over her body. Rainer had watched the Sorceress fight James and Alister through her own eyes, and she could feel the pain of the transformation as she and the Sorceress underwent it. However, the pain was minor to what the Sorceress had been feeling. For that, Rainer was thankful. However, it still helped to ease the pain when Rainer screamed.
Now, Rainer lay comatose in James' arms, blind to the world around her. Her breathing was uneven and troubled, but she still breathed.
In her mind, she could see a Sorceress. It wasn't Azhure, who she now came to resemble, but another one. The Sorceress smiled at her and held out her hand. Rainer, sitting on the floor, hestitantly took the hand and stood. The Sorceress' white-gold eyes narrowed and her mouth pulled into a cruel smile as she pulled Rainer against her body in a tight embrace. Rainer, unable to speak, whimpered softly at the pain.
"you stole something from azhure, little seedling," the Sorceress hissed in Rainer's ear. Rainer froze at the Sorceress' forboding tone. "so now i shall steal something from you."
Rainer's eyes widened in shock and pain as the Sorceress suddenly dug her sharp fingers into Rainer's head.
"What---?" Rainer's question cut off as the Sorceress dug her nails deeper.
"little seedling, you won't remember a thing. you'll be free and empty of memories; you'd like that wouldn't you?"
Rainer gasped, though more from fear and anger than from pain. Green energy began to crackle around both women, causing the Sorceress to hiss in surprise.
"what are you doing, filthy seedling?" the Sorceress screamed.
Rainer didn't, and couldn't, answer. The green energy suddenly surrounded the Sorceress' body, filling her with such pain that she quickly let go of Rainer. However, some damage was already done. Things Rainer had known for years quickly slipped away from her grasping fingers.
The Sorceress wailed in pain and anger and quickly disappated from Rainer's mind. Rainer slumped to the ground, clutching at her head. The wounds were gone, but there was a hole in Rainer's mind and heart. Something, so dear and close to her heart, was gone from her mind and as desperately as she tried, Rainer couldn't remember what it was. The thought of never remembering what it was she lost filled Rainer with shame, for she knew the memory had to do with something close to her heart.
_____________________________________________________________
Back in Esthar Garden, the Sorceress appeared to the headmaster Belial. She reported everything to him quickly. As soon as she had finished, the air around her shimmered and boiled and she was gone.
Belial sat at his desk and cursed. Azhure had told Alister that the Galbadians had ressurected Sorcerreses, so how long would it take for him to piece together everything and find out Esthar Garden was associated with the Galbadians? Esthar did not have the best fighting force; Balamb did. If Alister chose to attack, well...
Well, he decided, We'll just have to make this thing mobile. It was built like Balamb and Galbadia Garden, so we'll just leave here. Balamb will never know where we are...
Belial sent word to the engineers to get the Esthar Garden up and running, and soon it was so. Esthar Garden, situated across from Tear's Point, near the great city of Esthar. The Garden rumbled, alarming several hundreds of city dwellers, then shot forward, foundations torn out of the ground. The Estharians watched in awe as the majestic Esthar Garden soon glided gracefully across the ground, making for the sea. It sailed out over the ocean before landing with a great splash. It sailed south, going and going until it reached the Centra continent.
Belial smiled as he watched the scenes outside of the window. Even Balamb Garden would be hardpressed to find them now.
_____________________________________________________________
Rainer stirred in James' arms as the elevator descended. Slowly, ever so slowly, her now white-gold eyes opened and took in James. Her brows furrowed for a moment and she looked around her at the elevator. Her gaze returned to James.
She opened her mouth to speak. However, her mouth was dry. Rainer closed her mouth again, trying to work up some saliva. When her mouth was wet again, she spoke.
"Who.... Who are you?"

((I was impressed by what you came up with, Obsidian! Take a break for a change. You definitely could use it with a plot twist like that one! 3nodding ))
James faltered in his words. Without knowing exactly what had happened to her, something deep inside him clicked. He moved without thinking, heading toward the infirmary. Rainer had lost her memory, a girl so young having no idea who here friends or enemies. He didn't have a choice now, of course, he would have to stay by her and protect her.
Cling. The elevator came to a halt on the first floor and James moved out of it quickly. Several tried to stop him to talk, but he merely brushed them off and kept going. He didn't have time for idle chat, not with Rainer in her condition.
Cling, cling. The doors to the infirmary opened and several nurses rushed forward seeing Rainer in James's arms. They made a move to take her from him, but he knew that wouldn't be a good idea. She had gone through a transformation: She had taken on some of a Sorceress's power. She was going to be unstable; someone had to keep an eye on her.
So, James placed Rainer on the bed inside a room that the nurses led to. Then, he pulled up a chair. Thinking carefully before he spoke, he picked his words with great caution. If Rainer was indeed as unstable as he thought she was, he definitely had to be careful.
Finally he spoke, "My name is James Gunnar. I've known you for a very long time. Do you know who you are?"

The White SeeD ship returned to the White SeeD Garden within a few hours. The captain immediately made his way to the Headmaster and gave him a detailed report. Headmaster Rockwell didn't like what he heard. Too many bad things happened at Balamb. And if what the ship Captain spoke of was indeed true, one of the Esthar Girls had been possessed by a sorceress. Another Sorceress in the world! The Headmaster, Onyx, never thought it to be possible. If it was indeed the case though...Galbadia had gone too far.
They would have had help, as well. An investigation would have to held. There was no time for that right then, though. Too many variables had to be covered; to much ground had to be doubled checked. If it was the Galbadian Army's goal to have all the Gardens constantly looking over their shoulders, then they had indeed succeeded.

||Gah, my head hurts. Too many twists... I think I will take a break. sweatdrop ||
Rainer stared at the man. He was tall and obviously strong and skilled. He had seemed concerned with what she said in the elevator. And now he says he'd known her for a long time? Lies?
Rainer arched her brows, a bemused expression on her face.
"Of course I know who I am," she said, confused. "I'm Rainer de Weistrasse, twenty-three years old, Esthar SeeD rank twenty-one."
Rainer sat up and stared at the man, James, he said.
"Well, Mr. Gunnar, if that's really your name, you say you've known me for a long time but that's such a joke! You're kinda hard to forget, so I would have never forgotten you," Rainer huffed. A few wisps of white hair drifted into her face and she pushed them away impatiently. "I just survived a Sorceress attack, and now you're bothering me with lies!"
Rainer frowned at James, wondering what he was up to.
"If indeed you know me, Mr. Gunnar, or whatever your name is, you'd know I don't like liars."
Rainer glared at him, crossing her arms and turning away from him.
"I don't know what you're playing at, but if you're going to lie to me, then you might as well go away."

James didn't move. He didn't takes his eyes off Rainer. He had to choose what to say next very carefully, very carefully indeed. She had lost her memory, more specifically she had lost her memory of him. How was he going to solve that one? The easiest thing for him to do was bombard her with facts...but that could be a double-edged sword in and of itself. If she freaked out, her new powers might be unleashed on the Garden.
"You, Rainer de Weistrasse," James began. The sincerity of his voice was clear, "are a Rank Twenty-One SeeD of Esthar Garden. You became a SeeD at the age of Seventeen, and in six months you were given a Rank A supervisor according to a new program that Esthar set fourth. I was that supervisor. To the date, I have known you for almost six years. Your Guardian Force is Siren, a fact that only a handful of people know. The people that know them are your close friends, and the supervisor that you have. Again, that supervisor is me."
He stood up before saying, "You have been my best student for six years! You have shown me that there is more to life than combat! You gave me the first friend I've had since I was very, very young. What reason would I have to lie to you!"

The fact that the man seemed to know her worried Rainer. Everything he said was true, from what he said about her Guardian Force and her past. But as Rainer racked her brain for memories of this desperate man, she came up with nothing. There was no memory of a supervisor. There was no memory of a close friend named James Gunnar.
As James stood and said he wasn't lying, Rainer turned back to him, tears in her eyes. She could tell he wasn't lying, but how could that be? Her heart ached at the pain she was causing but the man. Rainer held up her hands in apology and said in a strained voice,
"I-I'm sorry. I truly am." Her voice broke. She took a few moments to take several deep breaths. "I realize that what you say is true, all of it, but I just can't understand how that can be true! I have no memory of you! I can't remember a James Gunnar. I can't remember a supervisor or friend with your face!"
Rainer clutched at the sheets of the bed. Several tears fell from her eyes but she angrily wiped them away.
"I'm so very sorry," she said, taking deep shuddering breaths. "But I just don't know..."

((Did we scare the others away?))
Several tears streamlined James's face as he sat and stared at Rainer. He had no words. Whatever had happened to her when she was possessed, it had affected her memory. She remembered herself; she remembered combat; for some reason she didn't remember him. It was heartbreaking. But, it was something that couldn't be changed.
"What's the last thing that you remember?" James asked, regaining control of himself slowly. Tears still ran down his face, but his voice was now steady.

(Computer virus, it's better now. Sorry!!!!!!!!)
Isaac had decided to wait outside the infirmary, listening intently to every word he could. "Rainer's lost some of her memory? How? The sorceress? Maybe... I wish I could help." He was inspecting his knives and wiping the blood off on to his pant legs. It was strange and bad habit of his. It stained his pants horribly even though it was unnecessary.
