As she thought back to her home she felt herself scowl. What was with her parents, planning to send her off to some Mental Institution! She sat up, playing with the grass. She looked down at her left arm, or, where it was supposed to be. It wasn't there.
'That's right...' She thought, staring down at it dejectedly.'It's not there...'
However, it definately should have been. She pretended to rip grass up from the ground, and the red blades came out and levitated in the air. Even though she should have been used to the sight by now, she still shuddered. There, that was the reason they had attempted to send her away. She thought back, for once not straining to remember something that was more than a week ago, to the morning exactly three months ago...

"Hey Kali, catch." Her mother said, tossing her the bottle of orange juice. She smiled and caught it with her right hand, pouring it into the glass. She put the cup up to her lips, and she caught sight of a comic in the newspaper. Garfield. She smiled, and reached out for it. However, instead of using her right arm, it was her left. The one that wasn't there. She almost sighed, figuring that nothing would happen, but when the newspaper began to float and she could feel it between her non-existant fingers her juice sprayed out all over the table. The mug of coffee her father was holding smashed against the hard tiles of the kitchen floor, and her mother shrieked. Kali quickly dropped it, and ran up the stairs to her bedroom. She slammed the door and slid to the floor, her slight form trembling. What had just happened... She was lost in her thoughts for lord only knows how long, until she heard her mother's voice wafting up through the heating vent.
"Yes, could you pick her up soon?"
What was she talking about?
"Yes, I swear she levitated it!"
Wait...she must be talking about her!
"You'll be here in ten minutes? Alright, thank you."
She froze at the sound of the phone hitting the cradle, and grit her teeth. They were sending her away?! Where, why?! Her questions were soon answered when her parents walked in. (without knocking, as usual)
"Kali, we wanted you to know that we're sending you away..."
Pffft, she knew that much already.
"And it's for your own good."
No, it was because they were being idiots! So she levitated something, big deal!
"We're sending you to a mental institution..."
This was when her violent thoughts of shoving them both down the stairs froze.
"W-what? Mental Institution?!"
"Yes, now you need to get ready..." her mother smiled hollowly and walked out of the room, shutting the door in time to avoid the glass vase that was aimed at her head. In her room, Kali had her own silent spaz until she heard a knock at the door. When she looked out her window she saw two men dressed in white and her face paled. She had to get out of here...

Rushing around her room she grabbed a bag, stuffing clothes, food, water, and anything else she deemed important and slung it over her shoulder, pushing the window open with her heart hammering against her rib-cage. She could hear them, they were coming up the stairs. Out went one foot, then the other. She reached for the tree outside her window, shutting it and clambering down. As soon as her feet touched the dirt she was off like a shot, ignoring the angry shouts that were following her. She wouldn't go back, and they wouldn't catch her...

She whipped the grass at the ground and stood up, slinging her bag over her shoulder yet again. She should get moving...it was getting dark, and she wanted to cover as much ground as possible. She didn't know if they were still after her though...best be safe anyways. She looked up at the sky.
'Sun rises in the east, and sets in the west...' She thought to herself and trudged towards the sunset, humming a song to herself as she walked.

[I'm impressed. Nice intro. Just tweak the spelling and you'll be rediculous.]

Wait. This didn't feel right...she was heading back home...? She had to keep plugging east...it was her only chance of finding civilization. Thinking back to her grueling trek, she sat down and pulled out the little notebook she kept, looking at the travel log inside. The writing was brief and scribbled, but she still found it very handy...

Day 1
Running as fast as I can, and taking cover pretty much everywhere...I found a short spurt of woods about three miles out of town...good game and shelter...but I have to keep moving. I'm going to be gathering surplus supplies here...But there's still no sign of other towns...maybe this is why we were instructed to stay in our homes...

Day 10
Broke out of the forest today, and wound up on a freaking cliff...nothing like the Scar, but definitely something to gawk at. Took awhile, but I scaled the mossy crag all the way down into a flat wasteland that seems to stretch for miles...the day is blistering and the night is really something to shiver about.

Day 19
Still moving in the desert...thank God I found that forest and stocked up on rainwater last week. I've been conserving...and discovering water on the way. Wild gysahl seems to grow here. I grabbed a few roots (with leaves attached...but not flowering) and stowed them away, too...

Day 34
At the brink. Very little supplies. Have to keep moving. Shelter by day, run by night.

Run.

Run or die.

Day 50
Efforts paid off. Found a small, sandy oasis and drank to my heart's content, but did not stay long. The new energy flowing through me was enough to continue on, and after replenishing my supply, I headed towards another line of trees in the distance.

Day...not sure now.
I can almost see the trees...and some kind of metal construct...but still, no civilization. I think a lake or other body of water might lie over there, but I'm not sure.....

She closed the book. Run or die...a decent principle out here. They could have stopped chasing her by now, but God knows what kind of means these knuckleheads have availiable to them. Why couldn't they just stop? So she had...a "quirk". It's not like she was hurting someone...couldn't people like her just be left alone? Couldn't everyone, in effect, live in peace? Couldn't life be ******** normal for a single DAY!??

She was screaming at this point. Swallowing hard and taking stock of herself, Kali looked at the freshly crushed blades floating beside her...she had picked them up in her deep thought...they dripped blood-red nectar and died before her eyes...died like every hope of normalcy that used to frolick in her head...she was like some...pawn to her parents...not even a child anymore...and so suddenly...?

Sighing, she glanced over her shoulder, having regained her bearings...

Onward and upward?

[At some point, go ahead and make a char. development. You can model it after mine (and all of the Mental group's)]

Damn. Nothing back there...it must be closing time...unless this place hasn't been used in a long time.

That was the cleanest McDonalds kitchen he'd ever seen...

Jumping back over the far-too-sterile counter, Ez looked around for Night. She probably just passed this worthless place by...couldn't blame her, either...

{Okay. Sorry if this post's a little short, I didn't know what to put...Wait, rediculous?}

She blinked, then mentally smacked herself in the forehead. West, why was she going west? She was supposed to be going EAST, she reminded herself, and spun around, trudging in the opposite direction. Pfft. Pawn, ha! She'd show them...she wouldn't do what they said...She wouldn't do what they wanted...

She stared down at her feet as she walked, wondering what she'd do once she reached civilization. Would she just attempt to be normal...? Would she even have enough money? She didn't know how much she had in her wallet, actually she wasn't sure if she had any for that matter...

[Oh, I'm fine with short posts. You could have a sentence, for all I care. In the right setting. If you can't write a lot, you can't. This RP is very GM-dictated, too...kind of like a game...instead of a story. Rediculous means amazing in my terms haha...]

Following the center of the sun and traveling away from the Lonarian Fragments, Kali kept on walking. The night was falling soon...and thankfully, she'd learned to deal with animals...

As she left the lake, she thought of the northern treeline, full of shrapnel and, well, mystery...it might be a good landmark to remember...though she didn't really know what the hell really was over there...

She looked ahead once more. If there even was much more civilization out there...this would be the surefire way to find it...

<<3 miles travelled. I will begin posting your location and what's up in 15 minutes...write a travel log or char profile (In the subforum Character Development) to pass the walkin' time...>>

After some travel...you...WAIT!!!! YOU FOUND IT! IT'S...it's..a...dirt path? Well, it's better than nothing...it runs...well, you can't tell, since it's night, but most likely...Northeast-Southwest...It looks frequented...hm. This could be good...or bad. Or both! Or neither...OR BROWNIES!

Actually, no, it could not be brownies...

You've obviously been affected by all this foot-travel...you think back...you've definitely already travelled on...sort of a Northeast track this whole time...but then again, it may be as fruitless as the rest of this trip...

Grr...decisions, decisions...

Ezriel kept walking, and turned the corner down the hallway.

"WOOHOO A PATH!!!" Kali grinned, surprised at the sound of her own voice. It had been so long since she heard a human voice, even if it was her own...she hadn't been talking to herself, but now she could figure out why people did. If she didn't have her journal she would have gone nuts by now.

"Alright, follow path to who or whatever made it, or keep walking aimlessly. Hmm, l wonder." She said to herself sarcastically, relishing in the sound of her own voice, rolling the words across her tongue. It felt good to speak...

Yawning, she hooked her hands around the back of her neck and headed down the path, forgetting that one of her hands wasn't there. But who cared, it felt like it so what the heck. She made sure not to wander off the path. It wouldn't do to get lost...not after everything she'd already gone through.

After about a day's worth of travelling, another line of trees appears off in the distance...

The sand and dust you've come to hate...suddenly becomes riddled with short tufts of grass! More and more life appears all around you, and before you know it, you're amidst a fully grown field! Blue flowers now dot the verdant plain, and you can eventually breathe deep, tasting every drop of fresh air...

As your rebirthed journey continues, you begin...to hear a low rumble. Not too loud, but still, a...faint...hum. As you travel the path, it grows...almost exponentially...

Soon, you can pick out distinct sounds - voices, perhaps, and as you quicken your step, you can hear shouting and cries of children - definitely the sounds of people! Running now, you can't help but become overjoyed to see smoke rising from a patch of tall pine trees to your right! YES! CIVILIZATION!!

You're really cooking, now! A town, at last! It must be huge, with all that sound and smoke!...In fact, someone...must be really sending smoke signals...because there's flame, too...lots...of...flame? As you mount the top of a hill, clearly just before the town's entrance, you hope to get a better view of your new home!

As the town finally comes into view, your mouth drops open. The din you previously heard was definitely not joyful. It was a cry for help...a cry of suffering. The road ran a deep red; blood paved this path to hell. Hundreds of people...slaughtered...lie all around. On the grass...on the road in front of you...broken into pieces and thrown in trees...one poor child must have tried to escape; a small arm lies grasping at your feet, just below the peak of the hill. The body is not attached...Whatever it might have been before, the town is in complete ruins. Flame shooting from windows, doors, and even citizens, the whole entire town...much bigger than Amandilla, in fact...was...demolished. Soon, the whole forest would burn with it - another blemish upon this decaying planet... Clearly this was no mere accident. The moaning victims strewn across the newly-reddened plain were a sure indicator of...foul play. But who would have done this? At least everyone had to be wounded...and all of the homes, stores, and banks...were just...incinerated...

You hate to swallow your words at a time like this, but a more pressing question comes to mind...Who could have done all this?

"¿Maria... por que?" Spaz lamented in the fashion of an overdramatic spanish soap-opera actor. He shook his head rapidly, trying to clear away the little floaty stars and bluebirds that encircled his noggin.

"That's IT!" He shouted, pointing at the troll. "Take this! OMNI HYPER MEGA SUPER ULTIMATE ATTAAAAACK!!!!" Spaz ran full tilt down the hallway toward his opponent, a cloud of dust and bits of paper fluttering in the wake of his incredible speed (along with what was either a moldy toupee or a sewer rat). Lunging the last ten feet, Spaz swung his foot directly into the monster's crotch.

And the heavens themselves quake with fear...
