((I can post, but it won't be much....))

Vince nodded his head. "Yea, nice to meet you. Now then, do YOU know why we're supposed to come and see you?" Vince folded his arms across his chest and leaned against a nearby wall.

The guards passed though the length of the market, careless of the chaos they left in their wake. Narren trailed them from the shadows and alleyways, the fierce rush of retribution he had felt earlier slightly ebbing now that the reality of his situation had hit home. Really, what was he going to do to these well-armoured, well-trained, law-protected brutes? Letting out an exasperated sigh, he ignored his own common sense and continued after the guards.

It was just before they passed by the temple that he realised there was one body in the guard’s entourage that didn’t look quite like a guard. In fact, catching another quick glimpse of this stranger, he realised that his hands were bound. Hesitating in surprise, Narren blinked at this unexpected complication. Were those guards escorting a criminal of some sort? Or had they just captured one? As a general rule, Narren didn’t mind if lawbreakers ran free – indeed, he had been one himself once. But still…what if this person was a rapist? Or a murderer?

It’s too much of a risk. he realised, the cold reality of the situation settling in over him. The city guards might be bastards to the core, but they existed for a reason.

Helplessly, Narren stopped at the edge of the temple courtyard, staring after the troupe as they marched through. The few people that littered the peaceful area hurried fearfully out of the way. As Narren was about to turn back, he heard a curt voice order “Out of the way, child.”

Spinning back around, Narren blinked again in surprise – the troupe had stopped. Curiosity winning him over, he carefully made his way around the edge of the courtyard, until he could see what was in the guard’s way. The challenger was just a young acolyte, from what Narren could see. A thrill ran though him at this revelation. Had the guards done something to offend the clergy? Narren hoped so – it didn’t pay to have the disapproval of religion against you.

Landon laughed. "I am pleased to meet nay friends of Laurie's little girl. Why don't you all come in?" He stepped back to allow them entrance.

Alicia stepped forward saying indignantly, "I'm not so little anymore! This is Vince and Lendelea--" She gestured to each of them in turn then dragged the two inside after her. "--and we have a bit of a problem." She then explained what was going on outside, with the help of Lendelea and Vince and that Acolyte Maerye had told them to go get the High Priest. By the end of her tale, Landon looked deeply concerned.

"And you say the soldiers are here now?" he asked.

Alicia nodded. "If they kept up the pace they were going at, yes!"

Standing, Landon brushed himself off. "Well then." He paused looking at each of them in turn. Then he broke into a wide grin. "Looks like we're going to have some fun, hm?"

"YES!" Alicia jumped up, a fist pumping the air. "You haven't changed a bit, Landon!"

Landon led them all back outside, where the Acolyte was standing alone in front of the soldiers. Alicia heard one of them tell the Acolyte to move, when Landon murmured, "Take out your weapons but be discreet about it and follow me."

Sliding her little dagger out of it's sheath, Alicia twirled it in her hand. She took out an apple and used it to cut slices, eating them once they were away from the whole.

Vince looked around the room before eveyone begain to move around. "You wouldn't have a sword or polearm around here, would'ja? I'm afraid all I got is this wodden staff, and I'm not near as good with it as the other two......" Vince slid gthe staff out of the loops on his pack and displayed it for everyone in the room to see........

And realized everyone had left without him. He shruged. "Oh well, I guess this will have to do....." He quickly ran outside and joined the others.

Aleric smirked, 'About time.' A glow of black matter encircled the binds that held him. They soon snapped and fell to the ground, no one really seemed to notice as the guards were already paying attention to their new distraction.
Aleric moved his hands around, 'Well that wasn't very nice.' He though the smirk growing, 'Now you shall pay.' A larger black ball of energy errupted from his palm, "I suggest you lower your own weapons." He said out loud, his voice cold and very sour. "Wouldn't want any of you to get hurt."
A guard glanced in his way, his eyes widened before he put down his weapon, "S-ss-sir... we... ha-have a problem." He said trying to point to Aleric. The head man turned around as Aleric spoke out again, "I suggest you put down your weapons. Not for me, but for the other people that would rather see you dead." He glanced around looking for the faces of the people he had seen in the crowd only seconds earlier, 'Now to see what you will do.'

Alicia's keen thieves' eyes widened. There was someone who was bound amongst the soldiers. She saw a shroud of black cover his bindings and then make them fall away. Judging by the soldiers around him, they hadn't seen it. She sucked in her breath when the black shroud solidified and grew into a massive ball. The soldiers finally took notice. They all seemed afraid of this man for some reason.

Alicia's mind spun a scenario that this man might be in, involving a capture and escape and recapture. A picture was painted in her head that had this man being the unfortunate victim of some tragedy, making her believe that it wasn't his fault he was restrained and that he had a right to be angry.

"Hey!" she called. "Mister Big Black Ball Guy! What's your name?"

Aleric eyed the girl that had called for him, 'That's all.... how pathetic.' He sighed looking back at the men, "Be careful I might just drop this." His voice was only loud enough for the group of men around him to hear before he turned back to the girl, "The name is Aleric.... and who might you be.... my lady?"

Vince did a compleate 360 scan of the area, his quick eyes taking in all the details. He doubted anyone had even seen him come out of the temple. Apparently whoever these guards were after was a large threat, as there were yet more guards everywhere, and even a few rangers on the roof. There were choke points nearby on the path, where only four or five guards could walk abreast at a time. Vince made his move for one of these areas, looking over his shoulders as he walked in front of the group. "Someone take that pathway over there and prevent the guards from comming through. It appears that they would like to have a party of sorts. Just watch out for the archers on top of the buildings....... This should be quite some fun!"

Vince walked over the choke point at the edge of the courtyard as more soldiers rounded the corner. "Lets hope they didn't think enough to bring a mage......." He turned to look back over his shoulder again, keeping the guards just in the edge of his vision, who had just started to realize someone was in their way. "Aleric, huh?"

"Alicia!" she called before anyone could stop her. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Landon put his head in one hand then raise his eyes in a silent prayer. Alicia grinned at the High Priest's expense. "What are you doing with all those soldiers? Why were your hands tied?" She ran forward a bit, closer to Aleric. "And what is that black ball thing?"
PostPosted: Mon Jun 04, 2007 2:19 pm

"So many questions." Aleric laughed, 'it'll get you in trouble one day girl.' His eyes returning to the guards, "I didn't want these fools to get in your way, nor hurt you. It would be good for you journey, and the black ball of energy is just to make sure they don't do anything stupid." He paused thinking over all the questions she had asked and then continuing on, "These soldiers found I was a mage, after I had tried to save someone. They figured I was doing wrong and captured me, the only reason I am here is because they were bringing me to a prison. Any other questions?" He glanced over at her and then the man. 'Well I know there's at least, that's... a plus.'

Vince clubbed a row of soldiers in the head with his staff, dropping them like rocks. He stole one of the swords just in time to parry an incomming blow. "Captured for being a mage? What IS the world comming to? What's next, imprisoning the fish merchant because his wares are smelly?" Vince clubbed another soldier with his staff, but since he had a sword in his other hand, it was slightly uncontrolled, and Vince heard his nose break. "Geez, are you sure you didn't do something worse? these guys are AWFULLY ticked at you!" And me now, but I'm sure these meatheads couldn't catch me if I gave them a map and tied myself to a post......

((Oh that was good... lol))

"If I did I still wouldn't tell the likes of you." Aleric let the energy of the black ball die as he watched the other man that he hadn't gotten a name from yet, clobber the soldiers. Maybe this group wasn't so pathetic after all.

Vince beat the last guard with the flat of the stolen blade, which caused him to fall like a rock. There had only been fifteen, and with the narrow pathway it wasn't too hard to knock them out "Fair enough, I suppose. Besides, I got a couple of blades out of the deal...." Vince bent down and picked up another sword before takicng a few lengths of leather from his satchel and making a makeshift sheath for both of them. He put them in the backpack, the hilts sticking out of the top, and walked back towards the original group of now feaked out guards. The opthers had since left long ago, worried about even mmore people emerging from the temple and beating the crap out of them. "Hey, shouldn't we let these guys go?" Vince motioned towards the remaining guards.

Alicia was sure she was doing a fantastic impression of a fish out of water. She looked down at her dagger, which was now useless since Vince had done all the work. "But-- I-- Um-- Hey! Vince! You didn't let me have any fun!"

She sheathed her small weapon and ran up to where Vince and the Aleric had some of the soldiers cornered. After looking one of them up and down, she promptly kicked one in the shin. The soldier didn't even flinch, so she kicked him again. And again. And again in the same spot over and over again until she heard a satisfying yelp.

Once that was completed, she turned to the two males and beamed. "All better now!" She turned to Aleric. "So you were taken in because you were trying to save someone with your magic? Was it your lover? Is she pretty? Is she the princess of a far off land that was--" She broke off, looking around. She thought she saw something at the edge of the courtyard, but couldn't be sure. More soldiers? she thought, taking out her dagger again.

((Has everyone forgotten about the archers on the rooftops o.O? Ah well, they give me a chance to do something other than just watch...))

Narren watched with a shocked detachment as first the prisoner shrugged off his bonds and threatened his captors - with magic, no less - then as the small group of people from the temple somehow managed to completely decimate another troupe of guards, something he hadn't even believed possible for a few simple commoners to do.

They must be weapon masters...or something like that. he realised, still watching for the shadows that bordered the courtyard. But why would they go and risk imprisonment just for the sake of saving one mage? Are they his friends? Or is it something to do with the clergy? He glanced about for the acolyte, finding him - or her? - slightly detached from the group as they rounded up the remaining guards and cornered them. Apparently there was something going on here that he was oblivious to.

A muffled creak of leather above Narren made him glance up. He couldn't see anything for a few moments - then he caught the barest glimpse of a curved bow, and an arrow being slowly drawn back. Catching his breath, he scanned the other rooftops surrounding the courtyard.

On every one there was a similar sight.

Narren flicked his eyes back to the small group as they chatted amongst amongst themselves, oblivious to the danger they were in.

Are they bloody mad? he breathed out quickly, You don't stand around like sitting ducks when you've beaten the guard, you get the hell outta there!

Before he could think his actions through, he leapt from the shadows and started to yell at the group.

"Mov-"

Before he could even finish the word, several twangs interrupted him, and the air hissed as arrows shot down towards the hapless group.
