rolleyes Yes, I know, George… and she looked very nice. lol

She was good in the role, I thought, very credible. I wouldn't have minded her being the new companion… a part which I understand has gone to Catherine Tate. ninja

I've been hearing next series would have Donna, Martha AND ROSE in it. :X Now what the heck are they doing talking about bringing Rose back when they've already said the other universe is closed for good?
See what I mean about RTD? You watch--he'll make it sound like Rose is back & do some other stupid thing instead. I'm tired of getting jerked around.

Hrm, I know what you mean. He does test our patience and general good nature to the limit and beyond, at times. rolleyes

So… I finished catching up with the half dozen episodes I missed last season, and enjoyed all of them very much, especially the last one. Great stuff overall… which leads me back to feeling a tad disappointed with Voyage of the Damned.

I decided to try and catch up on Torchwood, too, having seen the first three episodes, then missed the rest… but it's proving more difficult to track those down than it was finding the DW stuff. xp

My friends have a fast connection so we watched VotD on YouTube. It wasn't much in the way of Christmas if you ask me. Do we want such harsh realism at the holidays?

Hey, I found out yesterday that Colin Baker has a website & he does a Blog there! biggrin
He also writes a weekly column for his local newspaper, the Bucks Free Press! (There's a link at his site.)

I liked the Christmas episode, though I have to say, that outfit didn't flatter Kylie much, it made her legs look a bit chunky.
It was slightly spoilt for me by my Mum tutting and huffing all the way though it because she didn't want to watch it though rolleyes

I'm looking forward to being able to watch the new season of Torchwood, as I never got to see any of the first one.

Most serious Who fans seem to dislike Torchwood a lot. I haven't seen any of it & haven't felt too left out. Eventually I may blunder onto it & see if it's as bad as I've heard.

You can watch the first series of Torchwood online here:

http://www.stage6.com/user/insert_name_here/videos/

I've been catching up on it, and I like it (I'm about half way through the series), except for one episode I watched today, that seemed to stray into a different territory entirely… and which I wouldn't have watched, had I known.

That's the thing--I've heard there's a lot of sex, swearing & violence in Torchwood. I just don't care to see all that mess.

The particular episode I didn't like was Countrycide, which turned out to have nothing at all to do with aliens or time travel, but was like the kind of nasty horror film that I avoid like the plague. It was about cannibalism. By humans. It was very disturbing and not at all what I was expecting.

With apologies for the spoiler to anyone who does (or did…) want to watch it.

:XP: See? They have the same mentality as Adult Swim on Cartoon Network! :X They think making programming for adults means you have to load it with gross, disgusting obscene & violent content, instead of thoughtful, mature, possibly darkly sarcastic or socially-relevant programs.

I must admit you have a point, Eirwyn, and I am beginning to think they've shot themselves in the foot, anyway, by having a hero who can't die… or at least not for another few thousand years or so. (it may have been even longer… will need to check back…) It kind of takes away any suspense, when you know that no matter what happens, Captain Jack can save the day… rolleyes

I will probably watch the whole series, now that I've started, but if any other episodes start shaping up like that one… mad P: Trouble was, you kept expecting it to reveal what aliens were doing this nasty thing and causing all the gruesomeness… and by the time the punchline was revealed, it was too late to walk away unscathed. Thoroughly unpleasant, but probably typical of RTD at his worst. stressed

YES! lol That's what I meant about the few thousand years or so… it may even have been longer, I can't remember… I loved that punchline… great end to the series!!

Actually, I find it a little strange also that Captain Jack could almost be a different character entirely in Torchwood and in Doctor Who. He just doesn't have the same personality in each of the series, not the same traits… it's a bit disconcerting. confused
