Hey, does anybody still have those Special Character Creation rules from a few pages ago? The Rapidshare link from a few pages ago disappeared. Which is understandable, because that post was in February.
Many thanks!

Yup. I'll put 'em up again as long as people ask for 'em. The Hero Creation Rules are up again on Rapidshare. Come to think of it, this sort of thing would be perfect for Apocalypse.

I refuse to use special characters in my armies. I prefer to use my own creativity to design my characters.

ShasO Ol Por I refuse to use special characters in my armies. I prefer to use my own creativity to design my characters. Fact is some people need to use special characters to be able to field their armies though. You need to field a special character to field Ravenwing, my all bike Speed Freeks can only be fielded if I use Wazzdakka. The trick to fielding Special Characters is use 'counts as' to come up with an alternate name and background that fit your army but retain their unique special rules. What upsets me more about Special Characters is when the special character is so much better than the regular version that the regular version is hardly ever taken. Eldrad from the new Eldar codex and Aun'shi in the old Tau codex were examples of this, being far superior to ordinary Farseers and Ethereals.

In my case, and Id assume others, hes not going to pay back his points as easily as a Farseer made with one task in mind will. Then again I like to make units with a very specific job for bare points costs.
Im sure eldrad does appeal to the kind of person who ramps up their chaos lord for defense, speed, close combat a** kick, and even some firing capability.
Shame about needing Waszdakka for bike armies, and there werent an feral ork rules.

FlashbackJon That's my beef right there - the background. I like them as iconic characters and all, but to me that's how they ought to stay, not in every kid's 1500 point army. Similarly, I wouldn't object if someone converted a model, made up their own backstory, and fielded it 'counting as' a special character, balanced or no. Thats exactly what I'm doing. I'm taking a Kharn The Betrayer and exchanging his pistol for an item i invented, The Gauntlet of Khorne, which incoperates a plasma pistol =D

Hroth The Blooded FlashbackJon That's my beef right there - the background. I'm taking a Kharn The Betrayer and exchanging his pistol for an item i invented, The Gauntlet of Khorne, which incoperates a plasma pistol =D Except that's not what was suggested at all. What was suggested is that you come up with your own character, with it's own fluff, that can be fielded using an existing character's rules. For instance, I am required to take Wazdakka Gutsmek if I want to field an all bike Ork-army, but that doesn't leave alot of room for my army to have a face of it's own, rather than just being Wazzdakka's entourage. So instead, I'll be fielding Zagblitz Badmek, a sub-boss that shares Wazzdakka's dream of an interstellar highway for bikeboyz, but doesn't have his fame. He'll be a different face on Wazzdakka's rules, but I won't be changing any of the rules. What you're doing in coming up with additions and modifications to rules is more suited to Apocalypse than the general use of Special Characters.

So on page 8 someone said something about a Baneblade taking out a Farsight squad. Well I saw a Baneblade and I saw the Farsight squad. The Baneblade came off the worse. STRATEGIC REDEPLOYMENT. Baneblade dead. Farsight with one Baneblade kill ten SM kills and twenty IG kills. Sixteen suits left out of twenty and four Hammerheads out of Six. Five Objective for Tau and 1 for IG.
