I..... feel a little confused. It's a good thread, with good explainations, but I don't really know what to think about all this. I'll wait and see, I guess. Maybe DC clears things up. Most of the thoughts around Sephiroth's origin are just theories, after all, aren't they? Yes, I know that Hojo states that he's Sephiroth's father, and I know what the Omega-book says about this, but... Ah, well. I don't really want to offend anyone, so I'll keep my theories to myself and let all live in peace and happiness! blaugh
I can't really argue against your theories, and though I don't agree with you, Squall, they're really good and well formulated. You shall have credit for that! And your writing on the matters of Jenova are..... stunning. They clear lots of things up, and I find them logical.

I now a little bit my self
JENOVA used planets as vessials to get her from one place to another. The Metoer she used was once a planet, but It was withering so she needed a new planet as her ship, and she choose the world. The distance ancestors of Rufus Shinra found JANOVAS remains and seeled her away. Then there are the ancients, peoples who bloodlines contain JENOVA cells. Sephiroth found this out and dicided to carryone what his mother could not. In the movie advent children, the three bad guys were also ancients, but were spirits of ancients that fallen. On of them was non other then the spirt of Sephiroth. The metoer the JENOVA used did not entirelly hit the planet, only a biy hit the ground, but then the world used its power also known as the "life stream". The "life stream" is the force of all that gos on in the world, hate, fights, happinese and all other stuff. When a person dies he/she Becomes appart of the life stream. After cloud and his team defeted Sepheroth, Jenovas head was the only thing that remand, then the leader of the bad guys in The movie used Jenovas head on himself, witch then unlocked the power of Sephiroth. It is also known that the Materia that is used to make magic and powers came from the life stream. Geostigma, a disease, was actually a vactin to keep out the Jenova Cells, but it was all the people that got close to Jenova who caught it, or young kids exposed to people with geostigma, as predicted by Vincent.
But one thing ponders me, why was the cure to the Geostigma hidden in the flower bed that Aeris had. I wonder, did she know about the Geostigma and was planning to release the cure whan it broke out, or she had no Idea.
Im not so sure if all these therious are real, but there pretty good thoughts. 3nodding

Now, Im going to retort if you dont mind since thats what I seem to do a lot around here. I can agree with you up until the point of Rufus' ancestors finding Jenova. Rufus' ancestors were bound to have been some of the Ancients that lost the will to travel and settled down to live in one area instead of moving around like the rest of the Ancients and they most likely settled down where Midgar is at the present time in the game. So Rufus' ancestors probably didnt discover Jenova at all. Next, Ancients have nothing to do with Jenova cells. Jenova, the calamity from the skies, fell to the planet and began preying on the Ancients. Ancients were a people from the planet the game takes place on and have no connection to Jenova whatsoever. Now, Jenova, being the b*****d/b***h it is, began to take out the Ancients by showing itself to them as the Ancients dead relatives or something along those lines, and killed them to increase its own power. Eventually, the Ancients rose up to seal away Jenova, and succeeded. Jenovas seal was eventually broken by the scientists Dr. Gast and Dr. Hojo. Then the whole experimenting with Jenova cells and events of the game and such happen. Next subject. Sephiroth believed he was an Ancient because thats what Gasts records had stated. His original records were wrong however. Ifalna cleared all that up afterwards in their home in the Icicle Inn area. Sephiroth wanted to become the ultimate power in the world, so decided to use the lifestream and Jenova's cells to become the planet itself by wounding the planet enough to make it put all of its enrgy into the one wound, which he would be at the center of. This plan of his was foiled by our heroes and Sephiroths being was destroyed. Now, onto the bits of Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo, the three from Advent Children. They are Sephiroth in a way, just split apart and Jenova-less. Kadaj is the strength, charisma, and overall will of Sephiroth. Loz is Sephiroths feelings and his dexterity. Yazoo is the brains and skill of the man himself. At least thats how it seems to be portrayed, anyways. Now, when Kadaj finally came into contact with Jenova's neck (I believe it to be the neck from the translation of the movie I have), he was able to transform into Sephiroth. This came from the reintroduction of Jenovas all around being and the rest of Sephiroth that Jenova carried around with it, since Sephiroth was such a great power over Jenova and a great influence on its being. Sephiroth was hence able to come forth and exist again for a short time, up until Cloud finished him off again. Now, onto the Geostigma. I have no idea about it in general. All I know is that Aeris' garden was its cure. Why? Because of Aeris' effect on the lifestream and since the garden in the church was a mako rich area, the lifestream was able to protrude at that point. Aeris had a strong effect on the lifestream because of her strong will to be good. The Geostigma thing, Im not really clear on entirely, but I believe it to be because of Aeris' effect on the lifestream.

I have to add a couple things.
Jenova's Gender: Right, Jenova is often portrayed with a female's body. However, as much as I would like to believe Jenova is a she, there is evidence showing that he/she is a genderless monster. Almost every time you fight a form of Jenova, look at the chin. S/he has a beard. Some people argue that this is just a symbol of power, as the Egyptian rulers (male OR female) often wore decorative beards. But, I think it's fuel to the fact that Jenova is genderless.
Geostigma: It was my observation that Geostigma came into being when Aeris summoned the Lifestream at the end of the game. Remember, it's hinted at in the game that people who come into contact with the Lifestream are poisoned. Well, I'm willing to bet that when the Lifestream bubbled up and literally covered Midgar, everyone got sick.
AC Jenova/head/neck/whatever: I was under the impression that it was Jenova's head that the brothers had. First of all, sometimes the word for head in Japanese (atama) can refer to anything at the neck and above. (Many body-part words in Japanese reference a general area of the body rather than a specific part.) So, it wouldn't surprise me if there are different translations. But my main reasoning for believing it is her head is the fact that in the game, it is that very part that Sephiroth drops into the Lifestream and is never seen again. Put this together--Sephiroth falls into the Lifestream, and his body ends up at the Northern Crater. One of the first scenes in AC shows the Turks at the Northern Crater--presumably where they got the remnants of Jenova. I don't think it's just a coincidence--my idea is that her head was washed to the same place Sephiroth's body was. And, because ShinRa figured out where Sephiroth's body went, they had a pretty good shot of finding Jenova's head there.
Geostigma's Cure: This is really shady--as far as the movie goes, we're never directly told why/how the disease is cured. I think it's safe to say that Aeris was involved--but I think everyone's already figured that out. Nothing further on that ^^;

heh this is funy the little quarell against who sepiroth's true father is I thought this was a Jenova thingy not another sepiroth forum but hey what do i care but thats great that you know what you guys are talking about even if alot of ppl still feel to bring them selves to thwart your every factor of writting about it. but hell i guess leave them to there squandering. BUt Jenova though not an actual character that does stuff on her own with out sepiroth is one of my fav. characters. Mainly because she can chunk off parts of her body to fight you and still keep going i no no if i saw someone do that i'd be amazed but hey maybe not

Are we talking about JENOVA or who were Sephiroth's parents?
If you are smart and if you played ze game you will se that Sephiroth talks about Jenova as Mother who will take him to ze Promised Land.
And after your first encouter with Ultima Weapon at Midel head back to Nebelheim and go into ze Mansion (where you got Vincent).When you enter ze library you will see an animation featuring Zack and Cloud (won't tell you more..need to find it yourself).
From that animation it gets a lot clearer.
Sephiroth was born by morphing Jenova's cells with Hojo's.
Lucrecia was ze one who gave birth to Sephiroth but Sephiroth's true mother is Jenova.

Sephiroths true birthmother is Lucrecia. She conceived Sephiroth from Hojo and then Hojo injected the Jenova cells into Lucrecias womb to change Sephy's DNA. So technically Lucrecia is his mother and Jenova is just part of him.
