Jumping at the agonizing scream, Blade stared as the Dragon-Bound Knight fell and writhed in pain with wide eyes. Crawling back somewhat, he turned over towards Astalder and called for him to come over. The youngling, who had been more or less wandering the area aimlessly before the incident quickly rushed over by his human companion.

The two had a feeling that Aer had some dealing with this situation, seeing how he was nowhere to be seen. Not to mention that they were sure that the Dragon-Bound would have some capability to fight with Tarketh as his dragon.

Speaking quietly though hastily with each other, they tried to think of something to possibly better the situation. After a few quick seconds of debating, the two stealthily sneaked off towards the entrance they had come from. Whatever was going on probably was a bit too late to stop now, but if they could find Aer, then maybe keep anything else from happening.

Maybe...

*Brom poked his head out of a small hole he had been resting in. He had dug it out earlier as he was totally alone when he had hatched. The noises he had heard woke him up and curiosity had gotten the better of him. The hatchling blinked his deep forest colored eyes and took his time to yawn sleepily. He rested his head on his topmost claw and peered out at whoever was there.*

Rotar shook his head violently at the sound at first, before it didn't seem as shrill. He couldn't identify the sound at first, but after a few seconds it registered. He vaguely wondered who was screaming, but was more focused on the Fallen than it. When one of them turned and snapped at him, he snapped back, baring his teeth in the few seconds between then and when Tarketh snarled. Rotar stared up at him.

The hatchling Vastina and her human friend Rue finaly made it to Genyiel Circle. The only reason they made they journey from the Northwestern Mountains was so that Vastina could learn more about her own kind. It was an idea presented by one of the ghosts that Vastina often spoke to whenever Rue wasn't around.

Rue had come along to help his friend make it there in one peice. Quiet a feat for two that were so young. At times Vastina had floated slightly while Rue held onto her hooves to get over gaps in the pathes but it was never for a long time. Now they stood in front of the enterance to the dragon gathering place looking up at it in awe.

Suddenly a scream echied through the tall halls and reached their ears. Rue felt Vastina press against his leg though he was not sure if he was protecting her or her protecting him. The 8 year old looked up at the guard at the entrance wondering what was going on.

In the meeting hall the Knights were quickly hurrying off to do their various duties. Shadine and Master Lierce regarded each other for a moment, and then finally Shadine bowed her head, briefly.

“You wished to speak with me?” she asked.

“Yes… in the halls of my Order, if you will,” he replied, “No listening ears there.”

And he turned and she followed, leaving the other Ascended behind to mill about in confusion and ponder what they should do next. One knelt and started to help with the prone dragon, still gasping for breath after the shock of his Dragon-Bound being attacked. They got him to stand and started to escort him away from full view of everyone, to the privacy of the halls of the Knights.

-----------------------

The Fallen retreated to their own private lair, a roughly hewn cavern within the tunnels of Genyiel. There were various piles of belongings stacked throughout the room and the Fallen drifted off to each of these and a handful of humans came out to meet their masters. They ranged in appearance and levels of health but all bore wings similar to those of the Fallen. One in particular seemed quite happy and hopped off the rock she was waiting on and flounced over to Lania.

“It went well,” was all she said, a grin and a dangerous glint in her eyes, “Congratulations, Tarketh.”

The dragon just grunted in response and made for a back corner of the room, where the ceiling sloped low. A pack was lying there and Tarketh dropped the human onto the ground next to it before opening the leather sack to start pulling out small wood boxes and arranging them against the wall. The other Fallen watched him for a moment and then turned away, leaving him quite alone.

ooc: And I'm going to do very little in the way of leading events now... since the meeting is over it's up to you guys. Start exploring and you'll stumble across stuff. And feel free to seek out the NPCs, they're running around and will be a lot more capable of paying attention to other dragons since the excitement isn't as urgent.

Heading through the tunnel, Blade glanced back once to see if anyone had noticed the two leaving the meeting area. From the looks of it, they were in the clear for now. He didn't know how big this area was, but hopefully the two of them could find Aer somewhere.

Having better senses than his human companion, Astalder soon quicked the pace a little to take the lead. As far as he was concerned, there was no other beings in the area at the moment. However, this soon changed as they reached the fork in the tunnel where Aer had first split off from them. The dark youngling paused before making the necessary turn, and stared out towards the entrance to this area.

"What's up?" asked the young human, curious as to why the dragon had stopped in his tracks.

Squinting, Astalder peered down the tunnel, and barely was able to make out the outline of another human and dragon. It was hard to tell from where he currently was, but the pair ahead seemed to be younger than him and Blade. There was also something odd about the dragon, but he couldn't quite see what it was.

"Another dragon and human by the entrance. Should we go meet with them?"

Thinking about this for a little while, Blade shrugged slightly.

"It might be a good idea to let them know things aren't really going well right now. I'll stay here and see if anything comes by. You go on ahead."

Nodding, the youngling swiftly trotted over towards the two by the guard. Now that he was closer, he could easily tell that they were definitely younger. And the hatchling with the female human definitely was different from what he was like. In fact, she kind of looked like Shadine, so she must be a young Ascended.

((Rue is a little boy for future referance lol though I bet he could pass for a little girl.))

The little hatchling looked at the approching dragon with much curiousity. A living example of her race though not exactly like herself. She glanced up at Rue and then stood taking a few steps closer to the drak youngling.

Who are you? Why did someone scream? Where are your wings? She asked the line of questions before stopping and waiting for answers. Maybe this little dragon would be her friend too.

Rue looked at the dark creature and then looked down the tunnel wondering if they should go in or not.

((.. *shifty eyes* Woops.))

Blinking for a moment, Astalder tilted his head slightly at the questions the purplish hatchling had asked. After a moment, he went ahead and answered them.

"I'm Astalder.. Er.. yeah... One of the dragons did, some trouble is going on right now, so you two should be careful," he said before shifting slightly, "Um.. I don't have wings. At least... not full ones. The fins on my back are all that's there."

Being born with her feathered wings, and being with the human at such a young age, the dark youngling could only guess that she was like him in terms of knowledge of their own kind. Though, he had learned a bit more of the stories behind his stubby wings some time ago.

"Oh...I'm sorry. Um if someone is having trouble then..." Vastina looked at Rue for a moment trying to think of what to do. A ghost hovered behind the young boy pointing into the cave as if to tell her to still go in. Rue noticed where she looked and shivered a little. "I wish I knew where those things were like you." He muttered as he glanced behind him. It was clear that he didn't see the spirit like Vastina did.

"Would it be ok if we still went in? I'm Vastina by the way. Nice to meet you." As the little dragon spoke her feathery wings twitched by themselves as if they itched. "I'm Rue." The little boy said getting straight to the point.

Nodding slightly, Astalder glanced back towards the way he had just come from.

"Yeah, if you head straight down this tunnel, you'll meet up with a lot more young dragons like us. And older ones too."

He had mentioned nothing of where he had planned to go with Blade, since he wasn't too sure if it'd be a good idea to have them tag along. They would probably be safer with the rest of the dragons anyway, he figured. Though, he sort of wondered if they would be able to help them find Aer..

"It's nice to meet you too," he said as he turned around slightly to start walking further into the tunnel once more.

Vastina and Rue watched the other dragon turn to walk away before looking at each other one last time. Then they walked into the tunnel still a bit tenitively before looking around to find the other young dragons. Vastina would sometimes look down one way and then shake her head before turning away again. Soon though they found a large open space with a few milling dragons and even fewer humans talking. There were dragons with feathery wings like Vastina's but they were busy so she looked to where there was a gathering of younglings and hatchlings and the like. Rue followed Vastina over to the little group looking very out of place.

"Hi. Umm my name is Vastina and I just got here. What is going on?" None of the younger dragons had wings like her's and it made her feel odd. She shifted her feet back and forth looking at the others waiting for an answer.

The idea of disobeying didn’t even enter Aaliyah’s little head. If it did, it was instantly overridden by a sense known as ‘Do what Master Lierce says or else he will eat your face’. She wasn’t quite sure what counted as a safe out of the way place. To her, Genyiel Circle seemed to comprise most of those things. Well, maybe not the ‘safe’ part, at least not as long as the Fallen were there. Still, they wouldn’t dare do anything while the Knights were here, right?

In her hurry to find other younglings and round up the few hatchlings, Aaliyah didn’t notice Shadine walking towards the middle of the circle. Nor did she notice that the Fallen were conspicuously absent. Confused, somewhat frightened, and armed with orders, she did exactly what anyone in that situation would: spread around the fear and confusion. There was enough for everyone! No need for her to be greedy and keep it all to herself, right? She wavered around the group of younglings and hatchlings, trying to keep them all together.

Most of them seemed bored now and more inclined to sleep than wander around. But there were always trouble-makers. Oh, yes, there were!

She blinked in confusion as she heard an unfamiliar voice and she looked over her shoulder gracefully. Then she looked down until she could see the little Ascended hatchling. The feathered wings and hooves could only mean one thing: Ascended. But, it was a young one, younger than even Aaliyah. Shuffling her feet slightly, she tried to think of an answer. In truth, she wasn’t exactly sure what was happening.

“My name’s Aaliyah. Umm… I don’t think anyone knows exactly what’s going on. The meeting’s over now, and…” she looked back to where the fallen Dragon-Bound Knight was. Her voice lowered further, dropping into mental speech. There was… there was some sort of an attack, I think. On adult dragons. Directly. Earlier, a human tried to steal some eggs, and we think he was part of a group. And now this… Was there some sort of connection? After all, the Fallen and Ascended were born with their wings and the Dragon-Bound Knights had regained theirs… no. That couldn’t be it.

(I use ~s when she talks mentally)

~Attacking an adult? Stolen eggs?~ It was a lot to take in at once but Vastina tried to process it in her little mind. Rue inched his way up behind Vastina and then touched her head reminding her that he was still there.

"I guess we had better stay out of the way then...This is Rue. He came here with me...is that ok?" The spirits had explained little of what she could exspect here other then information about her kind. Maybe humans were not allowed...but she had seen humans running around too.

Maybe it was better for the hatchling to remain ignorant… still, Aaliyah didn’t like the idea of anyone staying ignorant, even if they were young. They had a right to know. She peered around Vastina to look at the little human she had brought along with her. He was certainly a good deal different than any other human Aaliyah had ever seen. Much smaller, for one thing. Younger.

“I don’t think it’s a problem at all. There are other humans here.” In fact, she recalled seeing another youngling with a human companion. A dark-colored male youngling, in fact. Where had he gone anyway? He wasn’t in the group that Aaliyah had gathered… “I don’t suppose you’ve seen a dark-colored youngling? I’m supposed to try to keep all the younglings and hatchlings here…” she doubted that Vastina had met Astaldar yet. After all, the Ascended had barely been here five minutes.

"Oh yes we did." Vastina said looking back the way they had come. "He was the one that directed us here."

"N I think I saw a older guy run off with him down one of the tunnels." Rue added thinking about it. "They seemed in kind of a hurry." Vastina nodded in agreement with her friend. "We can stay here while you find them if you want."
