fatcheehcs The~Flute~Whore I play tenor sax.. Well, actually, I play flute, but I learned tenor over the summer! So I joined jazz band. It rocks. It's given me a new take on all music!
I don't know...maybe I was bored with flute?... I'm just so excited about it! I gotta get a lesson on my jazz band music.
We're playing: Feeling the Funk Dos Gatos Bailando C-Jam Blues and...something else. I can't remember! Is that sad if you can only remember what you're playing for concert band?
Xx
yeh, flute gets boring... its just pretty... useless. No instrument is useless and to say so shows stupidity in the universe of music *dark look*

I go to a TINY christian school and want to start a jazz Band but as I said it is REALY TINY we have: 3 Trumpets (I play this!!!) 1 French Horn 1 Tuba 1 Barry Sax 8 Saxiphones 10? flutes??? 10? Clarenets??? 8 precussion
in the 7th and 8th grade band of wich I am apart we do travel stuff and have a pep-band and most of our memebers are dedicated
5 trumpets 4 sax 1oboe 15???flutes???? 15???clarenets??? 2 Trombones 5 Precussion
in the High school band of wich I sometimes play with who do a lot of traveling including staring in a Disney Band Event.
So with what I have shown what should I do!
Should I have a petission for it???
Should I have try outs if It will work???
What teacher (bible, history, science, english,OR band) should help me with it???(all of the teachers play)
Should I have music to present when I present my proposal???
Will it work with so little students???
Should I alow non-band memebers to pretisipate???
What age should you have to be to join???
should I include Choir????
PLEASE HELP I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS

Our Jazz band played the new Best Buy opening Friday 2/27/09. We only got 2 play 3 songs because the guy who gave a speech took forever... the ribbon got so bored, it cut itself. No joke. But the we got a group of 15-20 people and made a circle around the rock band 2 demo. It was fun.

Our jazz band stinks this year, we've never been a jazz school (Concert band and marching band are us) and we lost a bunch of seniors and like a lot of people are either freshmen or new on the instruments (i.e. me on trombone)

Nope not at all, but he's admitted that.... No one in jazz band really wants to be there, plus we might not even be competing this year since we are barely moving through music (A lot of our December practices were canceled)

Well, First off, I play like...four or five other instruments. Piano, Tenor Sax, guitar [six string acoustic, electric, and a four string bass], along with drums [though they are terribly out of tune right now].
As for Jazz Band [and regular band], I play Tenor sax, and sometimes piano if needed [our piano player quit out on us, and I apparently HAVE to play tenor sax. ] .
We're playing "Moondance" which I think is the coolest biggrin , "Satin Doll" which I have a solo in, and totally thrilled about >w< , "The Pink Panther" which we just got today, and I must say we did pretty good for sight reading. We're also playing the "Peter Gun" theme. Lol, we made a dance for that one. What else are we playing....I think that's it for now.
What are some of you guys playing? Have any good suggestions on what my jazz band should try playing?

Deosn't matter what you recommend, our band teacher will make us play anything, unless he doesn't like the song.
Yessir, we are good at reading and soloing.
