Ah...I'll upload it to PhotoBucket when I have the time xD;

That would be greatly appreciated, thank you ^_^.

In other news... I have a new thought for a cosplay I hopefully will be able to do as well as my Kuronue cosplay again in August... I really want to put together a Keiko cosplay. I have just the right hair now to cosplay her from the beginning of the series, with the pigtails and school uniform. I actually really liked that look on her, somehow I just think long hair suits her better. It would be nice if I could get my friend on the bandwagon to be my Yusuke, but I'll have to see... For one I am not even sure I will have the time to get it done, and for two I am not sure I am going to be able to get the time off work this summer to attend AE '08.

Necro-ed, because the topic is so interesting!

I've never cosplayed...if I ever did, I would want to make sure that I did it perfect, so I'd probably do something easy to begin with like Shizuru. I look like her the most anyway. I would like to do Botan if I could find the right hair dye or wig...Yukina would be fun, too.

All of the cosplay pictures everyone posted were awesome!

That is flippin' awesome! I don't have pictures, but I have cosplayed as Ivy from Soul Calibur 2, Sakura from Card Captor Sakura, Faye from Cowboy Bebop, and my most recent one was Koto! (fox referee from YYH)
To update this list after so long, I was Rosette from Chrono Crusade last Halloween. I think I may go on with Yukina at the next con since my hair is now at least long enough to get in a low ponytail. Otherwise, to try to outdo my Ivy cosplay in terms of uber awesomeness, I may do Mukuro. It'll be hard, but with the resources I have, it shouldn't be too difficult.

I helped my friend Kurama Babe with a Kurama cosplay she plans to do next year. Her boyfriend is supposed to be either Yusuke or Kuwabara (I can't remember). I also helped her meet online with some YYH cosplayers she found at a con in Minnesota. If memory serves me right, there was a Touya, Botan, Yukina, Koenma, Kuronue and Genkai. You can find them on KB-chan's deviantART. The Touya and Kuronue were epic.

To borderline_mary: Are you still doing the cosplays you mentioned on page...I can't remember... sweatdrop

Okay about two or three posts up, in December of 2007, I stated that I was trying to get a Keiko cosplay together... Well, that didn't happen, my friend said that if he were to cosplay anyone from Yu Yu Hakusho it would be Kuwabara, and I really didn't think I could pull off a Yukina. So I was back to square one and thinking that I might actually get my Kuronue together again. Well, when I realized I couldn't do that because it didn't fit properly anymore I started combing my mind for another cosplay I might actually like to do... And I landed on Kurama. So.... an email and 3 phone calls later I had a seamstress agree to make the base of his Dark Tournament outfit for me. The one he wore in his fight with Karasu. I also decided that one distinct thing would set me apart from all other cosplayers in this outfit... I would have the battle damage! Well it took a while to throw together but I DID it. Last weekend at Anime Evolution in Vancouver, BC, Canada, I was Kurama ^_^. So, I suppose I will show a picture or two for you guys. Hope you like them.

I have shots with the Hiei I found but much of them are shounen ai-ish shots. So, I mean I will post them if people ask to see them, but won't inflict them on you.

I'm cosplaying Kurama this year, and my little brother is going to be Hiei. xD I started by having him marathon the show with me - and now he's the one forcing me to watch it into the depths of the night! XD

I was Koenma two years ago - and I'd show you, but it was baaaad. XD

Cosplaying Kurama is fun... especially when you OOC him like I did XD. Sadly they never aired Yu Yu Hakusho in Canada... well unless you could get Cartoon Network on Satelite up here, so maybe like 5 people could identify me sweatdrop It was still cool though, and better than when I cosplayed Kuronue, I think only one person knew who I was when I did that one.

I think you will have a lot of fun in that costume, and it's awesome that your little brother is going to cosplay Hiei and is even getting into the show... It'll be worth the sleep loss with him making you go through all those marathons now XD

Even though you think your Koenma cosplay was bad, I would still love to see pictures. If you have any you should post them ;_;

<3 WELL, just because you were all friendly and nice and I'm a sucker for that, I'll see if someone still has them. xD

I have to warn you - my hair was black. (I was forced into One Piece cosplaying the day before Koenma, and for some reason I didn't even think to just not be him and be Yusuke. xD Once I have my mind set on something, I kinda don't open it til I'm done and can think "What the hell was my problem?!")

AND, if I find a picture, I'm cutting off my feet. >.> xDD The b***h that sewed my pants waited last minute, was PISSY, and then sewed ONE leg inside out. >.<

That was not a good day. XD

*will edit this when she finds something...*

...>.< Edit: Well. I've got nothin'. xDD Sad part is - if I had the costume, I'd put it on right now. xDD *threw the ugly thing away*

Speaking of cosplay, btw - am I the only one in this guild going to Sakuracon, by any chance?

w00t! I just got permission from my friend it post her cosplay pics. She was Kurama. She and the boyfriend broke up in November, so no Kuwabara. Fortunately, the group is getting together again next year, is gonna be bigger and she has a girlfriend who will cosplay Yusuke (there is a wedding to be had, I hear). Oh yes, and they got pictures with Lanipator (creator of Yu Yu Hakusho Abridged):

Well havishanta, most cosplayers make their own costumes from scratch. They'll make a pattern, get the fabric and start sewing. They'll also make their own armor and props, thanks to a wonderful product on the market called "Wonder Flex." Most cosplayers buy the colour of wig they need and style it themselves, although I HAVE heard of cosplayers making their own wigs.

For those who can't sew there are websites that will do commissioned costumes (or you can MAYBE get a hold of a seamstress in your area). I've had a costumed commissioned for me by a website called qqcosplay.com, they do great work, but there are others.

Be warned, some cosplayers are HARD CORE. They can be known to frown upon you if you don't make your costume yourself. Also, if you don't make the costume yourself you cannot enter it for an award in a cosplay contest at a convention. I haven't seen a convention yet that will let someone enter a purchased costume in a contest. However, so long as you don't claim a purchased costume as your own most people are cool with it and see you as a fan who just has a love for the genre.

So no matter which path you choose havishanta, cosplaying is a ton of fun and I highly recommend it, even if you only do it for Halloween or something and not a con ^_^

In other news, you'll never guess what cosplay I will be pulling out of my closet again for next weekend... Kuronue! Hah, yeah, he fits again and I have more props and what not to use this time... Something tells me I am never going to retire this costume, I;ll always be trying new materials for him and adding or excluding certain props. I'll also be wearing my battle damaged Kurama cosplay again, and I have bandages that I will paint to look blood stained to add to it this time, I think it will be really cool. So, I'll hopefully post pictures by the end of June for you all and you can tell me if the costumes have gotten better, or worse XD.

OooooOOooo! More cosplay! XD

Thanks for all the awesome advice. I might just do random crap and stuff or do my own things. Maybe I'll go completely off base and do like, my interpretation of a modern-day Kurama or Yukina or whatever! : DDD

Don't forget to post the pics!

There's actually something I forgot to mention. You CAN make a cosplay by throwing things together from a thrift shop. Some conventions do consider it admissable for a contest so long as it's creatively thrown together. Thrift shops are also a quick, efficient and cheap way of finding accessories for a cosplay too, and I know a lot of cosplayers who swear by them. I must confess that it is through the thrift store that I get almost all of my cosplays done. I can do some basic stitching, so I will find something pre-made and alter it to my needs.

My Kuronue cosplay was almost entirely a thrift shop throw together. I bought myself the pleather pants, and little wrap around thingy. I also got myself the belts there. The vest was a leather coat I found and just cut and shaped to my needs. The hat was about the only thing I put "real effort" into. I bought myself a visor, then glued cardboard to it and cut and shaped it. The first time I did the cosplay the hat was only spray painted black and looked shiny and weird. I also used beads for the buckle and it looked all wrong. The second time I work the cosplay I glued some pleather over the cardboard pieces, I also glued a strip of grey cloth around it and made a buckle out of femo and gold paint. It wound up looking 100% better. I've just never bothered entering it in any contests. Since I can't really sew, I leave the contests to the dedicated and the talented ^_^

Oh, I will remember to post pictures, no worries heart
