No prob I like helping fellow fans.
I'm really hoping Sunstreaker isn't just another repaint of his brother. I know he's supposed to be a Viper too though.

Great! biggrin stare Hate to disappoint, but as you can see from the image below, Binaltech Sunstreaker will be nothing more than a repainted Dead End, as this figure should have been released in the first place. It's okay, though - the characters are meant to be twins, after all. That said, I wonder how the toy will fare with it's yellow paint job once it recieves the Alternators treatment; one of the primary reasons Hasbro went with the blue Tracks mold was apparently due to the fact that the choice of yellow plastic ended up being semi-translucent! Time will ultimately tell...

The thing is sure they used the same car as an alt mode but each tranformed differently from it. I understand using the same mold atleast twice, but it's lazy to us it three times, even lazier to use it for charaters who have nothing in common with the first to use the mold.
Prowl, SmokeScreen, BlueStreak/Silver Streak all used the same mold orignally.
SideSwipe and RedAlert used the same mold originally, yes Sunstreaker was the same car, but he was a different mode. If they had any sence what so ever they would of done BreakDown and Sunstreaker as a differrent mold based around the Viper.

Don't get me wrong - I agree with you completely. I never waste my money on repaints, as I find it to be an insult to the buying public to expect them to buy something they already have, just because it's a different colour. Unforgiveable. However, you have pointed out that this practice has always been a part of the Transformers line, right from the very beginning. I don't know, it's just annoying. I personally would have much preferred to see Sunstreaker modelled on a completely original sculpt, but there you go. As for the Decepticons, I don't own any simply because they're all bland reissues. My poor 'bots ain't got no-one to party with!
Originally, I'd hoped that they'd bring out the Stuntacons and Battlechargers, as they were established adversarial characters that already converted into automobiles, perfect for the Alternators line. When I heard that Dead End was the first of the proposed Decepticons, I thought my dreams were being answered! Then I saw that he was just a Sideswipe clone, and worse still, had Sunstreaker's head... what the?!. Yes, I know the backstory, but it's still lame in my opinon. I don't want my Decepticons looking like Autobots, and won't justify the purchase on those grounds.
Right now, I'm trying to decide who I want more; Grimlock or Wheeljack? I'm thinking the latter, as a Dinobot adopting the alternate visage of a vehicle (of any kind) is just too silly for words. One thing is certain; I won't be scoring them both...

The thing is the mold was designed for Grimlock first and Wheel Jack as an afterthought. I think It's definitely worth getting Grimlock, the only reason I'd get WheelJack is because he was one of my favorites. That mold just doesn't suit Wheel Jack, he wasn't a powerhouse so why give him the body of one.
Dead End was just the wrong choice for that mold, if they were going to use it for a Stunticon then BreakDown would of been the right choice. He was atleast the same car as Sunstreaker and Sideswipe.
Knowing you don't like repaints you should atleast get Swindle. I think he's the only decepticon they've done right so far. He was a Jeep just like Hound so it make sence they share the same mold.
It's nice that many of the repaints are retooled, but still if they were going to translate non vehicle decepticons in to vehilce, then making them repaints was just stupid.
I like Ravage and Shockwave, but I honestly got them more for the character then the toy. A stupid reason to waste money I know, but I have very little self control. I'm still wondering why in Primus' name I got Dead End.

I don't mind the repaints so much as long as at least somethign is remolded on them. DO I think it's lazy? Oh yeah. I'm guilty of it with my 3D models though too. LOL. It's easier to just remold a piece here or there and call it good with a new color scheme. wink
I do like the Sunstreaker repaint though. He looks sharp. That and Alternators are the only TF toyline I've been collecting all of. I'm a bit behind though but only because my local stores aren't stocking them very fast or very well at all. >_<
I've liked most of them so far, but Windcharger/Overdrive I like better as a bot than in car mode. I just don't like his vehicle at all. That and his poor neutered gun. Definitely get the replacement barrel for it if you can. *nod nod*

Personally I think the new head and convertable vs regular remold are enough of a difference for me to justify buying them over again in most cases. Got Swerve a week or two ago and I'll admit I haven't opened him yet(because I seriously need to clean my room), but it was a thrill finding him when I hadn't even recalled hearing he was out. Still, I'd like to find and get Tracks, it really is a nice mold and car. as it is I have Smokescreen, Silverstreak(with the steering wheel on the right, the only reason I got the blandly colored repaint), Sideswipe, Hound, Ravage, Shockwave(even if they call him Shockblast), Grimlock, Windcharger
Holding off on Swindle till I can find a deal Haven't seen Deadend, Tracks, or Jazz(meister, whatever) Saw Wheeljack but thought I'd hold off, since I wasn't nearly as impressed with Grimlock as I was Ravage.

That is odd, although I'm personally glad Prowl isn't a repaint. And why doesn't Red Alert have a different head; cartoon Sideswipe and Red Alert did not look alike. Disappointing.

In my mind the twins aren't worth it. They weren't identical twins to begin with and making them so is lame in my opinion.
Master Piece Convoy is not apart of the BT/BTA line. Hasbro only put Anivesry Prime in the Alt line cause they were lazy.
