After what felt like an hour, Tycho finally made it to the door that led out of this crazy place, and into the relatively unknown campus. Rather then hesitating, which might gain unwanted attention, Tycho simply opened the door, like he knew where he was going, and slid through. Looking back through the opening, he did his best to memorize the last few seconds of the place as he closed the door behind him. He didn't really know why, though. It just seemed important.
There were students mingling all around. Some looked happy, others mad or nervous. A veritable sea of boys, interspersed with the few adults. And, of couse, the elves. He lingered on them for a bit, then his eyes jumped to a female teacher, who was apparently looking for something. Perhaps she'd been the one to throw the fan. Ty couldn't help but smirk a little bit as the door clicked shut. Served her right, if it was her.
Not sparing the ceremony another thought, Ty turned to regard the hallway he was in, and chose a random direction to begin exploring. A thief should always know exactly where he is, at all times.

Dante nodded. "Indeed."
He paused a moment, pondering the language. It was not that far off of their own...but it sounded wierd. He'd managed to gather enough to understand the general gist of what the boy was trying to say...but parts of it had sounded like they were mangled or left out entirely. Perhaps...a human had tampered with it?
"Young man, I have to ask of you, where did you learn Elven from?" he asked. There was a feeling in his stomach, not particularly sinking but definitely uncomfortable.

Jaden ran his fingers through his hair and ducked his head in embarrassment. Now everyone was staring at him and that made him decidedly uncomfortable...He didn't mind the praise from the Elven woman, but...Dante's tone made him fidget. He knew it wasn't perfect, he had said as much, and one of the things he dislike the most was observations he had already made, and he had the sinking feeling that one was coming.
"Different places, actually." Came the reply, "I know the works of Tolkien are used for a base but there are obscure supportive texts other places. That's one of the reasons I wanted to come here...so I would be able to learn the language correctly, Sir."
What he really wanted to do was find someone to hide behind. Well...at least most of the looks directed his way were all sort of impressed, instead of what he got back at home, which was to inform him that he was the geek of the century...but...erm...Dante unnerved him.

Dammit, the kid was fidgeting.
Irame was going to give him hell tonight.
"I heard about Tolkein, but never really inspected any of his works," Dante muttered, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "I have yet, however, to hear about any of these 'obscure' texts." He tried to talk not in a degrading and condescending tone, but in one much more conversational.
The looks the other teachers were giving him were telling him he was failing. Dammit.
"...I might consider starting a small study group as a supplement to the Study of Ancient Languages. Be sure you work hard so that you can get to that level and better improve your speech patterns," he said candidly, not lightly but not scoldingly.

The boy sitting near the back by himself was smiling outwardly, but inside, he was trying to remember the words the Headmaster had spoken. He hadn't understood a lick of it, but maybe if he could remember the words, he could ask his sister what they meant later on.
RuiZhi had been watching the going-ons as he was accustomed to, saying little and listening as much as possible. Granted, he understood very little of what was being said - even less when the blonde haired boy opened his mouth and spoke in a language like water - but he was hoping to absorb the atmosphere of what was going on, and to get a feel for the other students.
Pushing his glasses up his nose, RuiZhi sighed deeply, folding his hands in his lap. He was so excited to finally be here, but now he was wondering how long he would last if he couldn't speak the common language. He'd have to work on that with his sister, and fast. The boy stared at his thumbs with a determined expression, trying to repeat the words in his head.

Not knowing Tycho had secretly wandered out of the auditorium, the anxious advisor practically searched the entire place, knocking down random people in the process. His long Chinese robe was not in favor in this situation either, and he almost regretted dressing himself up in a long robe than convinent, western pants and tux. Almost, but not entirely.
Circling around now, aimless and panting, both due to frustration and excessive running and pushing away obsticles, Herei scoffed something to himself in Chinese. His annoyed face, however, did not stay for more than two minutes. Soon he was calmed down and smiling again.
Ah well...no need to chase after the boy, he was sure he'll meet Tycho again evetually. And then by that time he'll give him hell.
Feeling a lot more cheered up, Herei put up a sincere grin on his face, greeting and nodding at incoming students and teachers. Some of them he had knocked over when he was running, but Herei's cheerful and seemingly innocent demeanor soon left these poor people baffled and awkward, and the only thing they could resort to was to smile back and nod, as if nothing happened.
Strolling along with leisure, Herei glanced carelessly around him. Boys, boys boys. Some of them pretty like him, some of them strong like a real man (not that he consider himself NOT a real man), some of them nervous and shy and then...he stopped.
A red cap caught his eyes. The pattern and make-up of which was so familar to Herei that it made the advisor gawk. Herei blinked hard, making sure he wasn't mistaken. And he was right indeed! Someone here was from the same country he came from! Or, at least, the hat was.
Moving in closer to the boy, Herei once again confirmed his findings, seeing the same kind of yellow skin and typical Chinese features on the boy's face. Didn't want to stare too long at the boy (for the sake of politeness), Herei gave a little chuckle to try to gain the boy's attention.
"Why, hello there!" His voice was gentle and cheerful, along with it a hint of amusement.

A few familiar words in Chinese was all it took to erase everything the Headmaster had said from his mind.
The boy blinked rapidly, turning to look at the man who had spoken to him. His blinking stopped all together as he took in the robe the man wore, feeling a sense of familiarity. The boy's eyes moved up to look at the man in the face. He had no way to know the expression the man had made earlier, and yet RuiZhi's lips parted slightly, his mouth agape in the same form of surprise.
He shook his head roughly, standing quickly enough to knock over a chair or two. Offering one of his hands, the boy bowed slightly to a man he assumed was a Professor. "H-hello!" he managed in Chinese, almost forgetting his own language after his initial shock. "I am RuiZhi Tai. It's a pleasure to meet you!" The boy grinned, almost cheeky in his excitement. His enthusiasm for being at the school was taking over again; he just hoped he wouldn't screw up this first impression!

(( Herei was actually talking in English, but oh well, that works too. XP ))
Herei raised an eyebrow at the fluent Chinese the boy spoke. He smiled gently, and waved his hand, eventually settling them around his chest.
"My pleasure to meet you also. RuiZhi. My name is Herei, Herei Fang. But you can just call me Herei or whatever you want. I don't mind nicknames." Of course, Javelin already gave him several, so he could have cared less.
And, not wanting to make the boy nervous or feeling too formal, Herei sat down beside the boy, nuzzling on his own hair. "So, having fun so far?" Herei asked playfully. "Why not come out there? You know...go meet with your fellow students and teachers instead of sitting in this place feeling nervous?"

Javelin looked over at Lorioth with a look of petulant boredom. She made sure of course, that a certain headmaster was unaware of said look-- but it didn't REALLY matter to her if anyone else saw it.
What more did they expect from a woman who enjoyed the more taunting aspects of life?
"Javelin." Lorioth murmured, seeing the look and recognizing it for what it was. His expression was entirely too patient as he nodded his head at a passing student, pasting something that could pass as a smile on his face. "We are supposed to welcome the students, not scare them off."
Javelin scowled.
"Listen little mouse." she responding, fluffing her hair a little bit as she stared rather intently at the victim Herei had chosen for himself. They were all victims. "No one would dare be scared of me." a little bit more fluffing, and preening too.
The message was obvious, and Lorioth hid a smile behind an aversion of eyes and a hand raised to his lips.
"Of course, professor."
((dragging them back to the fore-front a little bit!))

RuiZhi tucked his hands back in his sleeves, smiling somewhat sheepishly at Herei. The man seemed nice and laid back; RuiZhi was starting to wonder if he was, in fact, a teacher. He hoped he hadn't offended the man with his formalities.
The boy sat down next to Herei, seeming to have forgotten the chairs he previously knocked over. "It is true, I am nervous," he admitted, "but I am very uncertain of what is expected of me." He turned his brown eyes to Herei, looking at him earnestly. "I...my English? It's not so great." The boy lowered his head at this acknowledgement, ashamed. "My sister is teaching me many words, but I am not confident to hold a conversation that would have me worthy of the school."
RuiZhi smiled. He was a little embarrassed, but he felt better that he had told someone. The boy wasn't terribly shy, and while he would have been thrilled to have started a conversation with one of the other boys, he simply didn't have enough confidence in himself.

Jaden breathed a sigh of relief...that could have been ever so much worse. "Thank you sir, I would indeed be interested in such a group." The odd-eyed boy was nervous now to the extreme, he had a feeling that the teacher didn't like him very much...and so he edged back towards the other two students he had been with. Zach and Elijah were far less hostile entities in his opinion. He bowed politely to Dante...but rather hoped that the...er...inquisition was over. The elven woman had been far nicer about it...and even complimented him.

"Oh!" Herei let out a cheerful chueckle. "I see I see." Nodding to himself as if he understood everything, Herei drew in a sharp breath. "Language can be hard to learn. But you know, the best way to practice is through conversations."
Herei tilted his head a little, putting his hand on his cheek so his head could be supported on the chair he was sitting in. He winked at RuiZhi. "It had been hard for me, too, you know, to talk to these people who are fluent with English. But I get over it. I just go up to them and talk, and try to learn their accents and stuff. You know...it's really simple actually. As long as you have an open personality language is not going to be your problem for too long." Herei smiled playfully and clapped all of a sudden, as if he had an impulse of ideas. "Hey! I know, you can talk with me in English! I can understand and speak that language fairly well, enough to get you to pass the school I think." and with that he switched to English.
"So, tell me about yourself. where you come from and all those things."

RuiZhi was entranced by Herei. He was so endearing! He was almost...almost cute in his antics, and the boy found himself liking Herei very much. The younger male very much hoped that the man was a teacher, so he could hear - and watch - him speak more often.
The boy couldn't help but grin as Herei talked in such an animated fashion, seeing the playful movements and excitement as a mirror to his own. When Herei offered to help RuiZhi with English, the boy practically quivered out of his seat in joy. "O-oh, yes, I would like that very much!"
He listened to Herei's English, and was very impressed with his accent and pronounciation. RuiZhi understood the jist of what the man had said; his lips puckered in consternation as he picked and chose his words. "I am from a small village in China," he started slowly, sifting through the library of words he knew that would best suit his intentions. "My parents are gone. My sister is, is...she's watching me." He pursed his lips; that wasn't quite what he meant, but it was all he could think of. His excitement was narrowing his vocabulary extensively.
His next words were flawless. "I want to be a doctor." RuiZhi smiled, pleased that he wasn't butchering the language too much. "I was awe by a man in my town that saved many people. I hope I can do that, which is why I am here." RuiZhi looked shyly at Herei, shifting his feet under his chair in a sort of embarrassed manner.

Herei watched the boy speak, and when Ruizhi was done he was so excited that he started clapping.
"Bravo! RuiZhi. Your English is good enough! Now all you need is someone to shove you into a group of students and start talking!" In his excitement Herei muttered the English words a little fast than he had expected to do, so immediately he coughed, and forced himself to slow down.
"I mean...You are very good at speaking English. And doctor is a good goal...although you are going to have to work hard for it." Herei smiled, squinting his eyes as if he was provoking a challenge. Afterwards he laid back onto his seat, however, and waved his hand carelessly. "Of course, I'm not in the place to say so since I know nothing about medicine and whatnot. Although there are experts in this field you know." Herei leaned forward, and used his finger to guide the boy's sight around until the finger stopped, pointing at Lorioth in the other corner of the auditorium.
"Now that's the guy you are going to rely on if you want to be a doctor. He's got an entire library of medicine in his head (Herei pointed at his temple as he was saying this). He's amazing at those kind of stuff."
((And all of these are in English. x3 ))

"That went ... well," Zach murmured quietly as Jaden retreated back toward the two of them. He edged closer to the other boy too and flashed a grin at him. "I think you did really good. I don't know how to speak the language at all ... though I'd like to learn." He'd read Tolkien too, of course, but hadn't bothered to try actually learning Elven from it...
