I know, We're catching up with Denmark, which has banned trans-fat altogether, classifying it as a poison akin to lead and arsenic. If you think about its strong consequences and how much is eaten, it adds up very quickly.
Unfortunately, the US hasn't begun the crackdown on small vendors, yet. that'll probably occur after the bill for restaurants (including fast food) gets passed.
Even if the bill doesn't pass, they will be forced to warn people if a food item contains it and possibly list the amounts. You should be able to request a substitute of saturated fat, which is better than trans-fat, yet doesn't alter the taste..
