Okay, I'm going to beat the dead horse and bring my Icarus question up.
I have found a fair amount of evidence that the Etruscans had a version of Icarus and Daedalus similar to the Greek myth in every way except their Icarus went by the name Vicare, and their Daedalus went by Taitle. In every other way, as far as I can tell, the myth is the same.
Okay, so, I know greek myths are off-limits, but if I were to quest for the Etruscan myth, using the Etruscan names, could I? Technically, it's an Etruscan Myth, not a Greek one.

(And good job, I like the concept and am pleased to be able to find a way to approve it and still be within the rules!)

Cerena I think the way we officially have it, Astra, is that Earth/Gaia is composed of many "multiverses" all occupying the same physical space, and... Each culture's gods are responsible for the creation of the universe, depending on what the person believed in? That's right. 3nodding The overarching multiverse and the original gods were created by Chaos and Dream working together as creator and inspiration, respectively. (And what I mean by 'original gods' is in myths where the gods allegedly came from nowhere or suddenly manifested or were always there - instead, in the Fa'e world, they were created by Chaos and Dream.) But within that multiverse, a blank canvas was laid for individual gods and pantheons to do their creatin' and stuff too. So the prime movers and original creators = Chaos and Dream; the sub-creators = various gods, natural processes, whatever. The reason world-creator gods aren't permitted in play is because we have Chaos as that overriding creative force, and it just makes things a lot simpler in terms of power overlaps and such - there are other reasons related ot that, it's late so I can't articulate them well, but it's partly because of what Cere mentioned as well.

so what i have now should be okay, then?
- the main creator god was made by chaos and dream - the main creator god claims to have made the universe but is a big stinky liar - he passes on and creates other gods, but still claims to be the big cheese - even though he isn't. - my god, Ogo, son of the creator god, thinks he was made by THE god even though it's not true
i read through the metaplot thread carefully yesterday, so i think i'm hipper on the myth now too~ whee

Ok, so I'm pretty new to the Fa'e, and all that the Fa'e encompass, but I've been immersed in reading for a few hours now, and I have an idea that I would like to get, uh, 'pre-approved', I guess, so I know if I'm even ABLE to make a quest. Sooo, here goes. Living in North Carolina, which I do and have forever basically, we are of course taught North Carolina history, folklore, and legends. One particular legend, or myth, that I have always been fond of is that of Virginia Dare. Virginia Dare is the first child, supposedly, to have been born in America by English parents on August 18th, 1587. She was born in a brand new colony on the island of Roanoke, which was located in the current-day Outer Banks of NC. The colony was severely low on supplies from England to begin with, so Dare's grandfather, John White, who was the leader of the colony, travelled back to England to plead his case for supplies. Unfortunately, he was trapped in England for three years before he as able to return Roanoke, due to a war that England was fighting against Spain. When he returned, he found the colony deserted. His only clue were the letters 'C R O' carved into a tree, and 'Croatoan' carved into a fence post. Croatoa was another island close by, but no traces of the settlers were ever found on the island. At this point there are two versions of the myth of Virginia Dare, and it it my hope to kind of fuse them together. One version is that Virginia was taken by a group of Chesapeake Indians. As she grew older, she was sought after by many males of the tribe for her beautiful blonde hair and pale skin. The tribe's medicine man, seeing that he could not have her, decided that no one could have her. Using his magic, he turned her in a white fawn. Another version of the myth is that Virginia died young, and that her rattle was intertwined with a thorny rose bush. An Indian named Little Oak found the rattle, and immediately spied a spectacular white doe, who took off into the forest. It was said in lore that when the child from across the sea with fair skin died, her soul would take the form of a white doe. It is said that the fawn is the leader of all the deer in the area, and wherever she would go, they would follow. It was also said that no ordinary arrow could pierce her body, but only that tipped with a silver arrow. Little Oak, having travelled to England, received a silver-tipped arrow that gifted to him by his father, who was given the arrow by Queen Elizabeth. On a fateful day, he let the arrow fly from the string of his bow, piercing the white doe through the heart. When he threw his bow to the ground, he was surprised to see a woman on the ground, who whispered 'Virginia Dare' to him before he died. That is the myth base, roughly, that I would like to use. Here are the tentative stats for Virginia's reborn self, whose name I've yet to decide. I also don't have a clue as to what her guardian would be like, either. Gender : Female Height : Not too tall, average. Likely 5'8'', 5'9''. Weight : Light form. Not underweight, but not large at all. Wispy. Powers : Shape shifting into a white fawn. While in this form, able to commune with other deer. ( I understand that there is already a Fa'e with deer characteristics; Yanisin, owned by JadeEye. I would like to point out that I do not want my Fa'e to have any characteristics of a deer other then a fawn's tail when she's not shapeshifted. When she is shapeshifted, she will be 100% natural deer, no human characteristics. Also, none of her planned powers overlap with Yani's as far as I can tell. ) I can't think of a second power as of right now. Weaknesses : She is very frail, and shy. She is not able to stand up for herself, and often is seen as a 'door mat'. Also, if she stays shapeshifted through the night of a full moon, she is unable to shapeshift back until the next full moon. So, how is that? Is it even plausible for a Fa'e? Like I said, I'm new, and I've probably missed a few things. I made sure to do my research, though, before posting this. A big thanks to Nessy for helping me and answering some of my preliminary questions. heart redface EDIT : Links to the myth, online. X X

This all seems really interesting and what not and I'd like to give it a shot. After reading through several of the threads that pertain to Quest creation and Fa'e creation, I have a question:
I did not find this deity taken and was wondering if perhaps I missed her or if I could go ahead and start a quest for her. The goddess is Sekhmet, from Egyptian mythology. I've read through all the other inprogress and completed Quests and through all the restricted powers and I will try my best to make sure her powers and such don't overlap or step on the toes of other Fa'e. I know quite a bit about her and her mythological basis, so I think I'll be able to accomplish that fairly easily.
"Starter info" for her reincarnation:
Name: Irikara Age: 18 Sex: female Height: 5'6" Hair: raven black, straight and waist-length Eyes: bright sky blue, often with a wicked or predatory gleam in them Skin: dark bronze Build: lithe/wiry Powers: (now here is where I have the main issue. I don't recall anyone having these abilities restricted, so here goes) fire, walking from place to place via shadows to get back and forth between the human and Egyptian divine realms, healing, magic (aura/ka as well as 'energy' magics that draw on a person's natural reserves of energy) Weaknesses: cannot drink alcohol/has low alcohol tolerance, sometimes lets her bloodthirstiness get in the way of what she needs to do nor is she very trusting, which means she'll sometimes go her own way when she should have gone with the others or heeded their advice
If she's not taken, I will be more than happy to develop her backstory, personality, and the reasons I've given her the characteristics she has. i know she's a destruction deity, but she's also a protectorate deity and I plan to flesh out those aspects as well as keeping her destructive aspect fairly specific to just her.

Mondo - The fact that there's a white deer at all kind of makes it seem, to me, like it's stepping on Jade's toes. Had it just been a normal deer, I don't think that it would have been a problem. My suggestion is to PM Jade about it, because she would be able to tell you whether or not she thinks that's stepping on her character's toes. It's really her call, since I don't think there's anything wrong with the myth you're choosing. ^^
Amasis - The question was can you use Sekhmet, am I right? If so, if no current Fa'e is her or is using her as an important NPC (though that is often negotiable) then I'm pretty sure you're good to go. For fire abilities, please read up the information Nessylove has posted regarding fire powers, aaand I'd check with Neith Kia about the whole Egyptian divine realms thing (I don't know what she's doing with Kia, so I can't speak for her). Please also make sure you're powers relate back to the powers Sekhmet had in her past life, otherwise they're considered to be null. <3

Amasis' questions brought up some of my own. I plan on doing the Goddess Hathor, but with a bit of a twist? Though it depends on what is said...
It didn't look like Hathor was taken, so I seem good to go, but there are alot of different myths, most of which coincide together, which question the relationship Hathor has to Sehkmet. Some say they are two different people, others say one came from the other- which one came first is interchangable. So I'm wondering how to go about doing that.
But like Amasis, I do know alot about the myths, so toe stepping should be no problem. This is what I have for her reincarnation:
Name: Sanara Eneiru Age: 17 Sex: Female Height: 5'2" Hair: Redviolet, a bit on the fluffy side and short. Eyes: Emerald green Skin: A milky sort of tan? We've dubbed it cream coated coffee Build: Small-ish, more petite, and rather toned Powers: Spell dancing, the ability to be-spell a person with intricate steps that have spells woven into them, I suppose would be one, but not one often used. She does have healing powers, rather strong ones, due to being a creation goddess, but with a human's body her abilities are weakened considerably. She can heal minor fractions and help to be rid of a cold. Can't do anything as grand as curing cancer X3;;; She can also, if present at one's birth, tell a baby's fate, future and death. Certain hours are considered bad luck and is thus often considered an ill omen for one's life. She can also walk from place to place via shadows to get back and forth between the human and Egyptian divine realms Weaknesses: Children, she has a real soft spot for them, a low alcohol tolerance (due to sehkmet), and a dislike for most men in general. She has a fondness for cows and falcons :3
.... But you can see where that causes a few problems with Sehkmet... Amasis and I tend to follow the base that she and Sehkmet were often two seperate people and tend to place them as twin sisters... Would that be allowed?

I have another question or two.
I've gone through the guild and HQ thread and noticed that there are a lot of references to a Lost Child sort of thing, but I can't find out exactly what that is. Do I need to worry about that?
And also, at what point do I need a guardian for my Fa'e quest and how exactly do I do that? Do I create a guardian for her?

Lost child would be what you and delectable have sort of come up with--
normally fa'e are found at their /rebirth/, not as teens, and are raised by their guardian in relation to the hq and surrounded by other fa'e. Lost children are those that were in a different land/realm than the one the fa'e hq is in. they are found as teenagers and then come, with their guardian, from their previous land to the one where all the rest are. i THINK that's it, but you might want to double check.
guarians basically are parents. all new fa'e that are not lost children are now 2nd gen, which means two existing fa'e have a kid. however, they are, typically, raised by the guardian, which is your character of your choosing.

Haha, I knew I had this quote somewhere in this thread. XD Fae HQ The Lost Children - A NEW Fa'e Plotline & Event!! First off, have you read Airi and Conrad's conversation yet? Go and do so now! Seems that when Airi was first creating the Fa'e - do you remember, some of you oldbies, how Anya had to track down the children and touch them with the Talisman to make them real? After doing so, she would bring the babies to their Guardians. Before Airi mastered the art of calling the reborn Fa'e to her, they didn't always appear only in Gaia... and Anya occasionally had to travel very far indeed... The Lost Children are Fa'e who grew up bound to Guardians in other worlds apart from Gaia, completely ignorant of who and what they are, of Airi and Chaos, and of their very nature as Fa'e! These children have grown by now to the age of teenagers, but with Chaos on the prowl over all worlds, they are no longer safe, and it's time to gather them in. What does this mean? It means that, because of Anya's tremendous generosity, THERE WILL BE A CONCEPT CONTEST FOR AT LEAST TWO COMPLETELY NEW FA'E!! The Lost Children will be completely custom; however, they *must* have grown up in a world outside of Gaia and be ignorant of their true pasts and natures. They also will begin at TEEN STAGE and go from there. They are fully fledged first generation Fa'e! After the concept contest is judged and winners are chosen, a group of Fa'e - led by Conrad - will sally forth worldwalking to discover and bring back the Lost Children and their Guardians. We hope all the lurkers and those wishing for Fa'e will join us in this event!! We don't yet have a timeline for this as it's dependent on Anya's schedule, but it will most likely happen in late September or early October. This is what was posted waaay back August I think, but this is the just of the Lost Child info. Hope that helps. <3 DSXY, I'm not sure I can answer your question. Better to wait for one of the stamping crew.

Yeah, a question about the stamping request thread. No one's taken on stamping any quests since January, though I have spoken to one of the stampers about it. I'd just like to get Dante approved, especially since the approval on my concept is more then half finished sweatdrop
I'm just kinda concerned that nothing will be getting stamped at all, since I've seen the stampers active, but it doesn't seem like any have been checking the request thread lately. Sorry if I seem like a stickler, but there are alot of questers that probably want to get the ball rolling on their concepts xd
