"Mia," Azalia called after her. "Be a dear and tell everyone they can go ahead and eat, they don't have to wait for us. Thanks." She didn't want everyone to have to sit around waiting with that good food in font of them.

Trying to be polite, Jessica tried not to wrinkle her nose at the sight of the clothes Mia brought her. They weren't nearly as loose-fitting as she was used to, but she was thankful just to have dry clothes. Though a few more escaped here and there, she managed, for the most part, to swallow the rest of her tears as the other girl led her to a bathroom. She nodded when the girl asked if she liked spaghetti, though she wasn't terribly hungry at the moment. Still, she was grateful for the shelter.

"When you get changed, give me your wet things and I'll throw them in the dryer. We'll get you some food, and there's plenty of rooms here, so we'll just get you settled in one." Azalia said to Jessica through the stall door, as she sat on the bathroom counter. It was pretty spacious, three regular stalls and one handicapped, and four sinks on a long counter with cabinets underneath. There were several restrooms like this, men's and women's, in the bunker, but the ones near the bedrooms had showers, too.

Roxy, upon hearing Azalia tell everyone it was safe, opened the crawlspace door and poked her head out. Seeing nothing, she crouched down and walked through the small door. She stood up and wiped herself off, and proceeded back to the dinner table. When she got to the dining room, she saw a girl in very wet clothes going into the restroom. She leaned over to Mia and whispered, so Azalia and this girl wouldn't hear, "Mia, who's that?"

Jessica nodded, though she knew the other girl couldn't see her through the door. They don't even know me and they're giving me a room here, she thought as she dressed. Why? Were they stupid? Didn't they know the government would literally have their heads with one security slip?
She finally came out of the stall and shyly handed her wet clothes to the blonde girl. "Thank you," she said quietly. She looked to her left and caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her black eyeliner and eye shadow now caked in heavy black streaks on her cheeks. If circumstances weren't as they were, she would have laughed at herself. She moved to the sink to wash her face.

Steven came out of his hiding spot after hearing the all clear and saw a girl in wet clothes and siad in a confused voice," What in the world is going here are we under attack or just hiding for the sheer joy and pleasure of it"

Azalia took the wet clothes and rolled her eyes at Steven. "This is Jessica. Jessica, this is Steven and Roxy. They live here too. Steven, of course you were not hiding for the joy of it. You never know if it will be the soldiers at the door, or just someone in need of help. It's better safe than sorry. I'll take these down to the laundry room to be dried. After Jessica's done washing her face, you guys go back to the dining room and start eating." Azalia headed off towards the big laundry room that had several washers and dryers. It was located in the basement, but even though it was rainy, it wouldn't be cold. The whole building was very well insulated, and usually warm.

Jessica didn't look up as she was introduced but kept scrubbing the makeup off her face. She knew it was rude, but what would she have said? This whole situation was just... awkward.
When she was finally satisfied that the makeup was gone, she peered at herself in the mirror. Her thick, wavy hair had tangled into knots and clumps from running in the rain. She reminded herself of a wet dog. Her cheeks were blotchy and her eyes swollen from crying, and she knew her face would remain that way for quite some time. That was one of the reasons she hated crying: The evidence stayed on her face for at least thirty minutes and was impossible to hide.
Slowly turning from the mirror, she stood to face the boy and girl. Roxy and Steven, she remembered. She smiled slightly at them, then lowered her eyes and waited for them to move so they could go to the dining room like the other girl had said.

Ruby had gone to the tunnel that would lead her to her home in an emergency. It felt like an eternity waiting for the signal everything was safe. Her heart beat loudly in her ears and her breathing was quiet but shallow until she could calm herself a little more.
While in waiting in the tunnel, Ruby had been reminded of the pounding at the door when the soldiers came to her house, seeking out at the beginning of the war, any able man to fight, willing or not. Tears rolled down her face as she thought of her loving father. Would she ever know what happened to him? Ruby pushed the thoughts aside until the signal came.
After hearing the signal, she went back to the kitchen and made herself a plate. She waited, though, for the others to return to the dining room.
:: edited, sorry, we don't really have a dining room, so we "eat in the kitchen", just how I grew up ya know... ::

((The food's in the dining room on the table, but it doesn't matter.)) Figuring that everyone had made it back from the bathroom to the dining room already, Azalia headed straight there. The only one she ran into was Ruby, so she decided to explain what had happened. "We have a new girl. Looks like she had a desperate reason to come here, what with the rain and all. It looks as if she's been crying. Her name is Jessica, and I think she's come to stay. She was just in the bathroom changing and washing her face, she, Mia, Roxy and Steven should be in here any moment now.""

"Okay," Ruby smiled. She was happy to hear of a new person, but she hoped that it wasn't a trap or that the girl would say anything to anyone that would have them all killed. She knew she had a thoughtful look on her face so she made it go away and replaced it with a stoic mask.

Azalia saw the thoughtful look on Ruby's face, and figured what she was thinking. "I thought she might've been a trap at first, but it doesn't seem so. The door was open and they could've gotten a clear shot at me for a few moments, and maybe Mia, too. The military likes to storm in, guns blazing, demolish the place and kill everyone, you saw that in that article. They demolished the place with missiles and killed those fifty-something people. They probably wouldn't waste their time with a spy. I think it's safe to trust her, and we'll know once we ask her what her story is."
