"Sorry for waking you up." Rivera gave Kira a hug. "'Kay guys, let's get to the point." She stood up and stretched. "I know Osprey's going to work with research and data analysis, right?"
"Yes." Kai nodded. "It'll be my pleasure. You have the DNA samples, right?"
"Old ones, but yes." Rivera handed him her 'c-d' throwing knife. "I want that back, so don't lose it. I will assume that Kestrel will be on tracking and scouting, and I will be doing a little bit of everything. That leaves you and Silverwing, Hawk." She sighed. "You think you two could work together for once on counter attacks?"
Kai's cell phone rang. The ringtone was 'Tsuki no Kaasu' by Okina Reika. "Hello?" He listened for a moment, then smiled, "Guys, Crane's back from Australia. He's heard about the situation. Huh--? Oh... okay. See you then." Kai put his phone away and sighed, smiling nervously. "He also wants to tell Kes that he sends his love, and that he brought a pet kangaroo back for her."
Rivera smirked. "Kestrel's going to kill him for that... Should we keep it hushed from her?"
Kai and Rivera looked at each other for a moment and went "Nah."

"Alright... I remember all of you... But... Who's Crane?" Kira asked curiously. "To tell you the truth... I forgot there even was a Crane..." Shinku said quietly. "Well it looks like we're stuck on counter attacks... I hope Hitomi doesn't worry more than necessary though..." Shinku stated blandly. He wasn't interested in killing Kira anymore, so he had no problem with working with him, but Kira didn't forget so easilly. "I still don't exactly enjoy this... I haven't even finished my training..." Kira said quietly.

"Crane's been out of the country for several months now. You wouldn't know him." Rivera whispered. "Don't worry about Shinku. If he gives you trouble, I'll not only hold back on the paycheck idea, but I'll leave him out in the cold where the Constellations can easily get at him." Rivera secretly knew that the Constellation alliance was nearly three times more powerful than the Birds of Prey, or Avian alliance as the new name was... since when was a Crane a bird of Prey? Well... She knew that everyone else but Kira knew as well. Kira was the clueless. "But if you give him trouble, I'll have to put you on suspension. I'll file the Constellation case up to the Boss-bird tonight."
Vesper tugged on Kira's arm. "Eight days... pleeeeaase hurry up!"

Kira listened to everything Rivera said and asked, "How bad would suspension be?" When Kira felt Vesper tug on his arm and heard her warning, he whispered to her. "I know but how the hell am I supposed to get her again when we're too caught up in a fight with another assassin group? It's kinda hard to think things like that when you have to deal with a group of assassins working with you and you get told your assignment will be away from the one you're supposed to be trying to get back..." He whispered it a little more angrilly than he had meant and sighed, trying to get his temper back in check. He hated time limits, and he hated it worse when it was being counted down.

"Suspension? Oh... not too bad. I just keep you away from Shinku and seal your powers temporarily." Rivera smirked. "Let's just say that it's easier on the novices than the officers and the initiates." She sighed. Vesper didn't really know what to do about the time limit. She just knew that they needed to get this constellation business over fast, and hope that Crane comes soon to help bail them out of the mess a little faster.

"That doesn't sound too bad..." Kira said quietly. "So, how quickly can we expect this to be over? I've got other more pressing matters to attend to..." He asked, hoping it would be over before his eight days were up. He needed every bit of time he could take, so he wanted the whole ordeal over with fast. Then, feeling sympathy for Hitomi he asked, quietly so only Rivera would hear. "Can't you just hold out on the paycheck if Shinku gives me problems... That young girl looks she wouldn't stand being a widow..." He asked then awaited his answers.

"Eh... fine... whatever." Rivera sighed. Why couldn't she go against Kira's words? She usually consented to every one of his requests... why? "'kay. That's all for now, guys. Hawk, please fill Kestrel in on what she missed. I'll talk to Crane once he gets back. Does everyone understand what their job is? Okay, great, let's get out of here." She gave a cheery wave to everyone in the place and nudged Kira to go. They shouldn't stay in one place for too long. It would be a little strange if anyone was watching them, even if it were just a normal civilian. One of the constellations might come along and ask a regular here if they've seen any strange people.

"Yeah, understood... I'll let the crazier red head know what she missed..." Shinku said quietly as they all adjourned for the night.
Kira looked to Rivera and started talking, "Thanks... I'd hate to see such a young widow... So then... Where to?" He asked, wondering if they would just return to the dorm, or if they would go somewhere for fun. Or if they'd continue his training. He wasn't exactly eager, but he couldn't really avoid it. It was pretty much something he'd have to do.

"Anywhere you want to go." Rivera replied softly. "I think, after all the excitement, you need a little break. I'll go anywhere you want to. Name it and I'll follow." She smiled. "I think it's time that we all took a little break, even Shinko. Ves is going to hang out with Kestrel for a while, so she can help her with tracking and forensics. We have some time to ourselves, why don't we make something of it?"

"Yeah... We could all use a break... I've been dealing with all kinds of crazy things recently..." Kira said. "So... What all could we do..." He muttered to himself, starting to think. "I don't want to race right now... Last time we went to the hotsprings we had a friendly visit from Kestrel which wasn't exactly wanted... What the hell is there?" He mumbled to himself, trying to think of something he could do with Rivera. Then it hit him. The White Ball. "Hey... You know about The White Ball that's happening for Christmas to New Year's right?" He asked Rivera.

"Eh? Right... yes... that thing..." Rivera nodded. "Vesper said that I had to go. She got me another dress... I wish she would stop getting me clothes without asking..." She muttered the last part to herself. "But christmas isn't for another week..." She inquired, "What is it that you're planning on doing?" Rivera blinked curiously.

"Oh... Right... Well I'm already out of ideas then..." Kira sighed quietly. He couldn't think of anything romantic he could do, nothing he could find to try and win back her heart, every idea he had so far hadn't worked, and he couldn't think of anything new. "So... What do you suggest? I don't exactly know of anything as I've already stated..." He muttered, embarassed.

"Eh... I have no idea..." She suddenly whirled around and shot three times into a tree. A body fell and she turned back to conversation as if nothing had happened. "But I'm okay with anything." Her cell phone rang and she flipped it open. "Osprey? Oh... okay then. I'll meet up with him then. Thanks. Bye." She snapped her phone closed. "Crane's been delayed be a little side mission. He won't be here for another three days." She sighed. They had to get rid of the constellations fast...

"Three days... That's great... I was hoping this s**t would be over with as soon as possible..." Kira complained. He had ignored the body this time, not really caring and too busy talking with Rivera. "It's embarassing... I've known you before, yet I have no idea what to do with you when we have free time... This is such an annoying predicament.." He muttered, burying his face in his hands in frustration.

Htiomi smiled as she listened to Kestrel. She sounded pretty nice, though she had the personality of a toddler. When she heard the part about making Shinku smile, she only nodded. "Yes, I'll do my best. Though, I may not know when he's smiling or not." She said softly, closing her eyes, tilting her head to the side. "Um... odd question, but what color is your hair?"
Hiro stopped purring, hearing the question 'what's it's name?'. With the voice of a very young child, as his voice normally was in his cat form he chirped, "I'm Hiro!" He closed hit blue eyes contently, but then quickly moved his paws over his mouth. He... shouldn't have done that.
