Ratings for Normal is the Watchword: from futoncritic Quote: And on the netlets, a new "America's Next Top Model" (households: 3.1/5, #13; adults 18-49: 2.1, #T12) and the season premiere of "Veronica Mars" (households: 2.1/3, #14; adults 18-49: 1.3, #14) on UPN (households: 2.6/4, #5; adults 18-49: 1.7, #5) easily topped repeats of "One Tree Hill" (households: 1.4/2, #15; adults 18-49: 0.8, #15) and another "One Tree Hill" (households: 1.2/2, #16; adults 18-49: 0.7, #16) on The WB (households: 1.3/2, #6; adults 18-49: 0.7, #6). Compared with its bow a year ago, "Mars" was up a solid 16.67% in households and 18.18% in adults 18-49 (households: 1.8/3; adults 18-49: 1.1 on 9/22/04). I still don't quite get ratings but I've gotten better at understanding them. For those who don't know these are from the randomly selected sample with boxes in their tvs that keep track of what they watch to represent how many viewers each show has. This helps networks make money by getting more advertisers to by ad spots. So the ratings are the big thing we need to watch because they can determine the fate of a show. Veronica Mars got lucky last year, it was actually the lowest rated show to get renewed. So I think the ratings are good, not fabulous, but if we can keep them like this steadily the whole season then I think we can look for a 3rd. These are the best VM has ever gotten on UPN and UPN is a small network that is used to low ratings and know its up against Lost, which they have no chance of beating. Plus UPN wants more respect, and VM and Everybody Hates Chris are its only critically aclaimed and respected shows. The 18-34 is also imprtant because that is the ages that advertisers really look for and I think we beat the WB on that so that's cool. Different news sources tend to have slightly different numbers but the gist of its the same. We've got more viewers and lets just hope we keep them.

Alright VM fans its time to get ballot stuffing this season, as this is the fanbase that is famous for it. TVGuide.com has a section called Watercooler that post mini recaps of some shows each day and VM is one of the shows covered. Then at the bottom they have a poll. On Thursdays it asks what was the best show of Wednsday and on the weekend it asks the best show of the weekend. Let's get voting for VM at those polls, it might help more people become interested and its fun to go "Haha Lost we're beating you" cause I'm immature like that. This weekends poll here: http://tvguide.com/TV/Watercooler

I feel weird making all these posts in a row but no one will know I posted something new if that date doesn't change:
I've heard that the Los Angeles area UPN station has chosen to preempt Veronica Mars tonight so that it can show the Angels playoff game. This is really stupid since the game is also going to be on ESPN, where most viewers will likely watch it.
Someone sent an email complaint to the local programming director requesting that they at least televise Episode 2 following the game,(programming@upn13.com). Otherwise, Driver Ed will be shown on Saturday at 9 P.M. Because LA is such a huge TV market, this will probably hurt the ratings.
If you live in the LA area you might want to try emailing too. It might not help but its worth a try. Maybe make points about how it'll be on ESPN and how Veronica Mars just got its highest ratings ever and UPN wants to keep them steady. Keep it polite and formal and don't call them stupid or demand anything of course.

An email from the Rob Thomas site: Quote: Hello, Just a note to let you know that Rob Thomas commentary for the Pilot is available as a download on his web-site: slaverats.com in the downloads section. Look for "DVD_Commentary.mp3" Thanks for your support. Also, Veronica Mars will NOT be pre-empted again on the West Coast for Baseball. All the best, Alex Mercer Director of Development Rob Thomas Productions I loved the commentary. It goes with the original pilot that's on the DVDs FYI Oh and if you want you VM dvds they're out now and the cheapest price I've found is 39.99 at Target. marshjazz I offically hate Lost. 51%. Well atleast Veronica Mars is second with 21%. I can't believe how overrated Lost is. I know. I used to love it for the first third of the first season, but now even though I like it I don't get what all the hype and hoopla is about.

I got the VM DVDs today! At Best Buy, which offers it for the low price of $40.12 (I've calculated the tax because that's just how obsessed I am) if you use your Reward Zone card. Otherwise, Target is the best bet.
I can't watch them however... crying My mom's hiding it until after I've taken the delightful PSATs tomorrow. xd

I can't watch them however... crying My mom's hiding it until after I've taken the delightful PSATs tomorrow. xd Oh I had to take those Wendsday and they were so delightful. And they were nice enough to tell us that if we become ill during the test and can't finish then we should hand them our test booklet and answer thing and have them rip it. I was glad that I had a new ep of VM that night to take away thoughts of PSAT for me. And one of the answers to a vocab question on there was a word I learned from Veronica Mars mrgreen It's good for the brain, you should have convinced your mom they were a study tool. Cheapest price now available is $36 at Wal-Mart because they did that price match and bring down thing.

Tv Guide has lot's of VM goodies! Q&A with Rob ThomasSpoilers from Ask AusielloA video clip from tonights episode marshjazz I have got to wait til Chrismas to get it. I'm sorry. If it helps at least you aren't paying for it yourself since I was pretty bitter about having to pay my money to that cheap studio that screwed over Rob Thomas and didn't give the dvd any special features and couldn't even get it out in September. Its nice having all the episodes in good quality but that's really the only pro to the DVDs. The deleted scenes, while interesting to see, are definatley all scenes that were right to have been deleted.

I guess Rob loves us, even if the network doesn't. I heard some of the chapter titles in the scene select were awesome. Can I get confirmation? Of course, the titles of the episodes are awesome, so if there are chapter titles, they probably rock, but still...

I haven't got a chance to check out the chapter titles cause my sister has been watching them (HAHA I've turned her into a Veronica Martian!) but you're right about the podcast. go to his site and go to Veronica Mars, then downloads, then MP3s and then Pilot_comentary or something like that. It's fairly easy to find even if my directions weren't totally right.

marshjazz Evil studio, cheating the DVD out of the deleted scenes. No they got the deleted scenes, but that's the only thing they got. And I kinda have a feeling that not all the deleted scenes were on there. I'm pretty sure a scene with Lynn comforting Logan after Aaron tells him not to embarrass him was shot but cut, and I really wish we could've seen that because that would give more insight into how that family worked, how Lynn was, and why Logan loved her so much. Poopeyheads.
