It was quiet. Well, not really quiet. Everyone was still all in a hurry of a gather. The musicians were playing the back ground. But it was quiet. Arthas had returned. He took a place near his right hand. It helpped to stroke him while he sat there. "I hope that wasn't all your marks. You shouldn't waste them on me." He stopped thought of telling her then but quickly dismissed the idea. When he truely left he would tell her. Not now, it would ruin everything...one last evening...

"Speaking of marks hows the booth going..."

Freya didn't appear to be hearing her, and Lireal was just about to lose her patience and drag the other girl off, but then her storm grey eyes fell on a familiear head weaving through the crowd. She cursed violently under her breath, and pulled the taller girl between her and the oncoming person.
"Freya, I need to get away from here. Now. We don't have to leave the gather, but you have to act calm and help me get out of this particular area. I'll explain later, but I need you to trust me." She looked pleadingly up at her friend, all the while moving slowly to stay on the opposite side of Freya than the holder storming down the row of stalls, looking none too happy.

"Yeah, that was it for my spare spending, but hey. I haven't had a good Benden vintage in quite a while, and who better to share it with?" She said, pouring some from the bottle that the drudge had just brought. There was also a platter of some sliced wherry and breads, and she ate some of that as well. "The booth is pretty slow...I guess what with the drought and all no one has marks to spend on instruments."

---

((sorry white! I guess I missed the reply way back when...))

Freya frowned in confusion, but nodded when she heard the urgent tone in her new friend's voice. She didn't understand entirely what was going on, only that there was someone that she really didn't want to be around, and that was enough for her to spring into action. She quickly surveyed the crowded gather, looking for a plan of escape. Suddenly, her eyes caught the guest stables, where people who had traveled to Fort from elsewhere kept their runnerbeasts until the gather's end. Maybe they could lose whoever Lireal was hiding from in there. "Come on," she said the the other Candidate, grabbing her hand and taking off at a run.

Ipsen raised an eyebrow then sighed. "It used to be such an honor for a Hold when a youngster was chosen to impress. This saddens me indeed."
He caught site of some apprentice boys setting up the area in which the great chours would sing for the Lord Holders and guests' enertainment. Unbidden a wave of apprehension washed over him. Not a inkling of the feeling was shown on his face but Trick, ever so keen, picked up the worry and crooned, sending feelings of love and reassurance. Really, to do this in front of the Weyrwoman.
"There there, you'll be getting fed soon," he played it off. "That roast wherry smells fine."
He chuckled when another thought hit him. "I wonder if we even warrant spots at the high table anymore. If it's any consolation, Harpers aren't considered much above brown-nosers, whores, and theives." He shrugged. "I hope I didn't get us in trouble with my bold movement tonight."
Tolara's baby seemed to be settling down. "You certainly have a fine baby boy, Weyrwoman." He mused a bit, smiling down at the child. He grinned and crossed his eyes making the child giggle. "Darling things... I never want one." He smiled at her impishly. "I must say, I never had a chance to meet the Weyrleader... I heard he was a fine man. Though this is quite belated, my consolations for your lose, but in the same breath, as life must go on, I gave you a hearty congradulations for you baby. May he grow up to be a great and proud as his parents." Tolara looked tired, right to the bone. She has far to much to fight at this moment... far, far too much.
"I must say, anything I can do to help lighten your burden do not hesitate to load it upon me. I am willing to carry as much as you can or dare!" He said gently. He felt that Tolara could make a powerful ally and a great friend. Soon they'd turn the tides of this discrimination. The Holders would soon learn that this is only the beginning of the pass. Soon the Falls would become longer and more intense, they'd soon see that there is much to fear from this menace and only one hope against it however they disliked the work to keep them here!
His tone changed to that of dramatic suffering.
"Oh dear... the feast can't be starting that soon... My shells and stars." He shook his head and grinned. Really, he should be acting a bit more mature for his rank. "As the feast begins I would gladly like to escort you to your place."

I'm not so sure she'd say that in a few hours... He occupied Arthas by throughing him some meat on a side plate. He raised his glass of wine. "To good friends..." And bitter ends...

"Neither did I," she confessed with a a smile, "Yes well, Glith should be rising soon and we'll get a new Weyrleader." She smiled at the Harper. Amusing man.

With a shake of her head Tolara held up a hand after his offer.

Glith? Will you tell Wrath that Rayinte needs to get over here? Tolara sent a mental picture of the place that she and the MasterHarper were in. The feast is about to start and I think it would be best for Fort to make a single entrance.

A vaugely malicious wave ran through Tolara. Do you need help impressing anyone about the *importance* of dragons? The gold was already planning way to show off, plans that would probably be forgotten in the next moment.

That's allright, please just pass along the message.

Allright, but you owe me a bath, without that screaming thing.

Yes dear.

Tolara tuned back into Ipsen. "If you think you can wait, the Junior Weyrwoman will be joining us in a moment."

Ray wades through the crowds, her earlier antics leaving her somewhat confused as to the layout. She's headed in what Isskio assures her is the correct direction when Wrath speaks up.

The Weyrwoman wants you to get a move on; Fort must make a unified appearance at the feast.

Ray makes an irritated face and tries to move faster, holding the ridiculous hat in place with one hand. As she approaches a somewhat open area, she catches sight of the Weyrwoman, being escorted by a rather tall fellow in Harper colors. Ah, it's a good sign that the new Masterharper is acting so friendly with Tolara; he might be willing to consider her suggestion.

Wincing at the necessity of being very publically visible in a moment, Ray sends Isskio off on her own, promising some tasty treats if she stayed out of sight during the feast. She edges around the crowd.

"Weyrwoman," Ray says, approaching Tolara and the tall Harper from behind. "I'm sorry I'm late; I ah ... got somewhat lost." She opens her mouth and closes it after a second thought; this wasn't the best place to discuss her antics. She glances nervously at the infant, having no experience with such tiny people, hoping nobody offered her the opportunity to hold it.

"Yes, too friendship! May it see as many years as its participants," she said brightly. He had an odd look, and she was reminded once again how much there was that she didn't understand about him. It made her a bit uneasy, but the wine was good and it couldn't have been wasted on bitter sentiment. She relished the flaver, and poured another glass. I hope I don't get drunk, she thought with a surprising absence of alarm.

Akai worried her bottom lip waiting to see if the girl had won. Really her break was over, but she wanted to see so she didn't leave just yet.

"Come on.. announce that she won a filt.." she mutters soflty caressing Kopi gently on the eye ridges so he wouldn't get jealous anymore. She couldn't help but smile. If she really chose to get a flit he would accpt the idea.. bbut he rather liked it just her and him.. and she did to. Well for now.. she had though about getting another flit.. or perhaps some other animal as company. She worried her bottom lip more needing to leave but ancious to see if the girl won.

"come on!" she grumbled again"

His face soured further and he full out glared at the girl. "One through twenty" he snapped not naming the prize. It was obvious though, as the pots sat right next to the knife.

((sorry this took so long, I had to move and couldn't reach a computer))

This time, a faint smile played around the edges of her lips. The man was starting to sound really annoyed, and although he didn't mention the prize this time, her eyes wandered over to linger on the egg pots for a minute. Then she once again turned her gaze inward. "One though twenty..." she whispered, the numbers streaming through her mind. This one was certainly more difficult, but that was only to be expected. Thinking about it for several moments, she finally lifted her eyes to gaze at the stall owner. "Twelve," she stated confidently.

R'ign grinned at the sight of the other brown and Klah chirped quizzically at the creature. The bluerider shrugged at the question. "Hmm... two marks?" She left as a question for, after all, half of the fun of running a booth is haggling on the price.

Hal's eyes widened at this. "How about three quarter marks?" he asked.

((ahh uckmoving hope you had help! Odd i was thinking we were just waiting on the answer if you got it right or not.. wow.. silly me)

Akai heard the girls guess and grinned excitedly. She was wanting to see the mans face get nasty, she just knew he would. She hoped though he wouldn't cheet the girl out of the eggpot. Akai heard the cook shouting for all drudges in the distance and grimiced. If she didn't hurry she was going to get one heck of a scolding.. and prolly a little more. The cook still half terrafied her, and she wasn't completely comfortable around all these strangers just yet. But working as she had been she didn't mind so much, apperenly the harper hall with all its comings and goings and big hall to serve food had helped her shyness a lot. Though, she still didn't trust guys one on one yet unless it was Daniel or her other friends.

Kopi trilled soflty, feeling her slight anxiuity.

"It's alright Kopi" sh emurmmued petting him still watching and grinning.

R'ign acted offended that her art could not bring more than that. "Hmm... 1 and a half is quite a bargain for such quality art..."

He also downed the entire glass, and filled it back up. He then promtly downed this one and again filled it back up. The taste wasn't his desire at the moment. He wished to get roaring drunk but that would have to wait at least for a while. He also gobbled up some food. He sat back a little and sighed unsure where to go from here.

It was getting later in the evening and she was definitely drunk. Shards, she though to herself with a frown. Faranth keep me from doing anything stupid. She hoped she was sober enough for the Maserharper, but he hadn't shown himself so far and supposed he was busy with the Lords and Weyrleaders. Oh well, she'd report to him tomorrow morning.

She moved to refill her glance and found that the wineskin was empty. After staring at it for a moment with an absurdly quizzical expression, she turned to Daniel and said, "want to go for a walk?"
