"I'm not lazy. I try very hard! I mean, okay, so maybe I'm not the most handsome rider around, and maybe I don't have the biggest," he glares at Rayi, "Dragon, but at least I have ... I have..." Uh oh, not a good time to be running out of words! "... A sense of humor?" he tries weakly.

Ray busts out laughing. "More like you are a source of humor. Where is Nimakio? I want to give that little earbiter a present!"

Beriadi laughs, "a sence of humor? well I have to admit you do seem to have that K'makin."

Kya smiles weakly. Whew. Maybe he could change the subject? Ah! Ray just gave him an opening!

"Nimakio? Good question." Nakoreth, where is my blue buddy?

Sleeping, but he's getting hungry so he'll be awake in just a little bit. You should oil him again today.

"Nakoreth says he's sleeping, but should be coming by soon to rupture my eardrums with his incessant demands for food."

Beriadi smiles, "Atleast my little brown has grown up that he doesnt only have food on his mind."

"Speaking of flits," Ray muses, "I wonder where Isskio has gotten to..." She shrugs, the little gold had probably gone to play somewhere. "But it is nice that she isn't always sleeping or eating."

Kara wandered into the lower caverns, a skin of Benden Red over her sholder.

Are we there yet? I'm so tired...

"Almost there now, Aireth. Just in here," and Feather held the door open for her dragon to enter. "Look, there's an empty bed. Come on." She helped the green to climb onto the stone couch and watched as Aireth curled up with a sigh, tucked her dainty head under a wing, and fell asleep. Awed still, she watched the dragon's side rise and fall with each breath.

How long she stood there, she never knew. Finally, though, hunger got the better of her. She reached over and gently stroked the green's soft hide, careful not to wake her new friend, before leaving for the feast.

Gold and rider slipped out of the Hatching sands to be faced with crowds. Who is Beriari's dragon again?

Uhm.....

...Thanks...I'll start in dining hall first, you just sit around the great big lovable lump you are. Maybe play with some of the weyrbrats since you so good with children

I'm forever doomed because of that aren't I?

Yes, yes you are!

As the two bantered Glith lumbered off to an unoccupied weyr to wait for Tolara. The weyrwoman pushed her way thorugh the crowds and towards the dining hall. It was the first place to start looking, although if Beriardi didn't like crowds then Tolara would be in much trouble.

As if thinking about trouble summoned it Kilra, the killer green flit, came out of Between to drop onto Tolara's shoulder. Chiding away, the flit decided to follow Tolara around.

Beriardi picked up a cup of Benden white and raised it in a tost to Ray and Kya, "strong, healthy weyrlings."

Bah. Everyone was interested in the boring feast business. Nobody wanted to play Throw the Sparkly Rock. Feeling rather put out, Isskio found a nice safe spot for the rock and flew back to her person. Ray smelled funny, almost stale, but her thoughts were, interestingly enough, easier for Isskio to understand.

The flit settles back onto Ray's shoulder and nestles close, making complainy noises at her rider.

Ray blinked blearily, pausing mid-sentence from an exchange of friendly insults with Kya, to focus on Isskio's complaints. "Sorry dearie," she says. "I can play with you tomorrow? Throw the sparkly rock tomorrow, yes?" She was working very hard to speak clearly.

Well. It wasn't Throw the Sparkly Rock now, but at least Isskio had something to look forward to. Chirping, and in a somewhat better mood, Isskio crawled down Rayi's arm and curled up on the table, expecting--and receiving--scratches. She crooned like a contented feline.

Ray caught the end of Beriadi's toast, and mumbled something in agreement, "Strong, heathy weyrlings, yes."

::Myyth looks about the hall, wondering when the feast was going to end. She thought that leaving early would be rude but........

Shakeing her head Myyth tried not to fall asleep. She could sense her dragon's contented sleep thoughts, and it wasn't helping in the least.

What would be worse, leaving early or falling asleep in my food?

Food? I want food!!! Where are you?

You should be asleep.....like the other dragons. I'm at the hatching feast

Feast?!? eek

Ohhhh no...... Stay right where you are, I'll bring you lots of food.

Stay? Why?

::Myth shakes her head, and gives those sitting near her at the table a quick smile before leaving.

I need some meat......

Without another thought Myyth walked down to the kitchens and explained her problem. They quickly out fitted her with enough meat to fill an adult bronze, from she could tell. With a quick "thanks" Myyth ran up to the room. Somehow she didn't think her dragon would stay put for long::

T'thia, more then slightly drunk off her benden white, coldn't help but sit by and laugh at her table mates conversation and chidings at Kya. her laughter however was suddenly cut short as a joke about bronze riders was made and she said in a slightly slurred voice

"hey! i wide a bwanze!"

her tone was indignant but more of informing as if to say "hey! you're talking about my dragon! cool" but when she heard her own slurred speach she broke out in laughter once more until her bronze flit Orneth came in with an earsplitting screach and circled her head before landing on her shoulder

"hello love"

she said with a drunken grin as she tore a piece of her meat roll off and handed it to him

"here go"

the Flit chirped and snatched it begining to stuff himself as T'thia downed yet another goblet of wine with laughter, this feast was certainly better then her own hatching feast. a familiar tune was stiken up that caused her to become verry quiet as her mood swung in the opposite direction. her gaze suddenly dropped to her hands on her lap as her smile faded

One foot on the bench beside him, the other resting gently on the floor, R'nek watches the party from his corner as the level of drunkenness grows and the level of intelligence drops to match. Smiling out of the corner of his mouth, he thinks quietly to himself. What posesses people to get so drunk? They completely lose control, say things and do things they wouldn't were they in their right mind. Most of them embarrass themselves horribly, and don't even remember what they've done!

They drink to relax. I don't believe the drunkenness is purposeful - in most cases. In others, they drink to forget. It is not a bad thing, and one glass of wine would do you no harm.

Thank you, Famyroth, but I'm not so sure. I've never had a drink, and I plan to keep it that way. R'nek shifts on his bench, leaning his head back against the stone wall behind him. I'll get plenty of amusement from simple observation.

As you'll have it. Famyroth's voice fades out in R'nek's mind, leaving him alone with his thoughts as his dragonet slips back into sleep.
