*Puts his finger beneath her chin and lifts her head, smiles warmly into her eyes* It was our duty as knights, they died proudly, they wouldn't want you to be sad for them. *Stokes her cheek with his finger and leans over for another gulp of drink* Anyhow, a small group of us made it up into the mountains, where we tried to escape the monsters, but they just kept coming! That was when we saw it, I don't know exatly what it was but there was a dark light as bright as the sun but darker than the night sky. It spoke to us, "If you wish to survive, you must accept a greater power than you've ever imagined" It said. We were amazed, we were being offered power, what was the catch? The being spoke on: "Only one may recieve this power, but it comes at a cost! If you accept what I am offering, you will surrender your past, and future to me!" We didn't know what this meant at the time and assumed it meant that we'd use this power and then die, so I accepted as the squad Captain. *Takes another swig* And that's when I recieved this, *Runs his hand across his lance*.....

*Looks up at Atticus* This lance is my only redemption, the one thing that stops me from giving up. This was the power I recieved in exchange for my mortality. I used it to cut down the monsters and return the surviving knights to the Palace. There I was hailed for a hero and all was well. Then as the years went by I realised I wasn't getting older, I put it down to excersise. But when all my friends and team mates were to old and frail to lift a sword and I was still the best knight in Diadem, I realised what I had sacrificed for that power all those years ago. Since then I've watched everything I know dissapear. And now....*Smiles deeply at Atticus* I've finally met someone who I can talk to. *Finishes his drink and pulls Atticus close, holding her tightly* Thank you for listening to my woes, I know you've seen enough hardship in your life, but I appreciate this so much. *Releases Atticus and sits back* And that's my story.

I will! And besides, I have someone new to live for. *Put's his hand on Atticus's arm* I'm going to help fight, to help you forget your sorrows aswell! Fate brought us together, nothing will tear us apart! *Raises his glass* To the future!
