After reading Eragon- anything by Paolini After reading Artemis Fowl- anything by Eoin Colfer After reading most of the Hitchhiker's Guide... Same with David Eddings, lots of those mediocre authors... I usually read at least a few chapters at the local Barnes and Noble before I make up my mind about something, unless it is an obviously terrible series like Charlie Bone. I try to give people a chance since I want to write and I'd like them to do the same.

The Twilight series. I want to read it just to prove to myself that I wouldn't like it and prove some other points, but I don't want to waste my time :/

I try not to be elitist, but I really dislike romance novels or westerns. Other than that, I'll read just about anything... even the dictionary sweatdrop
I do find it hard to complete books with rape scenes. But if they're integral to the plot and not gratuitous, I'm usually OK.

I refuse to read the rest of The Still by David Feintuch and books three and four of Christopher Paolini's Inheritance cycle. Also...I will never read anything by Cassie Edwards, although the reviews on her books are hilarious. Jodi Picoult leaves a bad taste in my mouth, so I probably won't pick up any of her books in the future. Oh! Kenneth Eng is out there, and I mean out there; I won't read any more of his "magnum opus" than I already have (there's an excerpt on Amazon; beware of broken ribs due to laughing).
I had another writer in mind, but I can't recall who. This is going to bother me all day now.
Edit: Oh! Terry Goodkind. That chicken-that-is-not-a-chicken scene was quite enough for me, thanks. Also, the Twilight series.
I don't mean to offend anyone; those books just don't match up with my tastes.

I refuse to read Eragon because a glance through it can tell you that it sucked.
I also don't see a point in horror novels.
All vampire novels suck except for dracula.
All of Brian Jaques books are built on THE SAME PLOT FOUNDATION (woodland creatures are threatoned by evil larger creatures - rats or felines or something silly like that. Badgers are badass and all knowing foxes are equally bad a** but belligerent just like everyone else. All animals want to kill each other with swords, and....oh yeah mouse, squirrel, and otter beats feline, rat, seguall, frog, ummmm and hares are british for some reason. The good guys always win.)
They were great when I was younger but I've grown out of them.... but even when I was younger I began to see the formula.
I wont read anything that is written purely to sell books (so anything by Robert Jorden.) ermmm.... and thats all I can think of for now.

I thought I never say that I will never pick up a certain book or series again but I have to say I will never pick up the Twilight series after I finish reading it to see how it ends. I got into it just before it got this big bandwagon and it's fan base has just ruined it for me. The plot is good but there are to many vampire stories/novels out there that are too alike and I'm sorry to say Twilight is one of them.

Anything by Robert Cormier. I read one, and tried another, but I just can't stand them.
And Ginger Pie, but that's because of my sister. XD

I refuse to read romance. I avoid that section at bookstores/libraries like the plague. I also am not going to read westerns. I usually can get through mysteries, but I don't usually read them unless someone suggests them. I read Eragon because my brother read it and said it was good. It was okay, but I absolutely hated Eldest, so I'm not going to be reading the rest of them. Another book I will absolutely never touch is "Tai-Pei" by James Clavell. I swear the only good line in the book is "and then the people of Happy Valley started to die." I started laughing at that line and then stopped reading. Snows_Silence The plot is good but there are to many vampire stories/novels out there that are too alike and I'm sorry to say Twilight is one of them. I read Twilight before I had read any others, so I liked it. But I probably won't read any other books like it. timehopper The Orphens of Chaos. It's a book series, although when I read the first few pages of the first book, I got bored, so I refused to read even further... rolleyes I managed to get part of the way through the book before I gave up entirely. I refuse to touch another book in the series. Sorry if I quoted too many people.

I absolutely, hands down will not read Robert Jordan's 'Wheel of Time' series. I don't care how good some people think they are, I just won't do it.
I'm not big on romance novels either, so no. Oh, and after reading David Edding's 'Belgariad' (or whatever) I refuse to read David Eddings. And I do believe that I read a previous post where someone had that same opinion.
But I think the biggest thing for me is Wheel of Time. I discovered George R.R. Martin, and never went back!

leave david eddings alone >:O and redwall you foolsh! If you cannot comprehend a ya book at an older age,is that the authors fault,or your own incompitence? (considering the amount of ppl that read rewall books below the age of 16).
Personally,i veer away phillip 'look everybody im an author' pullman, because he can't write.

Well, I don't actually REFUSE to read anything. There are a few books I won't read more than once, but having read them the first time was bad enough to make me dislike them. First on my list would have be... The Omen. Following that: Most westerns (have a hard time getting into the plot) V.C. Andrews (I read the back of several, and haven't really found them appealing. haven't actually read any, so I don't have an informed opinion) The vampire books by Anne Rice (couldn't get past the first chapter of Interview) Redwall series (read the first couple, couldn't get into them...not sure why...maybe I'll try reading them again one day) I have a hard time rereading any book I was forced to read in school (except Anne of Green Gables. not really sure why, but I actually read that one twice, and wasn't completely turned away from it by the assignment.) I've found that being forced to read a book, no matter how good it may be, tends to take away from the enjoyment...be it by school, parents, or just 'because everyone else is reading it'
Having said all that, I do have moods for different kinds of books. If I read a description that doesn't appeal right then, it might be what I'm looking for a week or two later.
