I got into system a couple years ago, after hearing their music growing up (still growing up, man). I remember hearing Chop Suey! when I was 6, maybe 7, around the release of Toxicity, and I heard Shimmy on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4. As more songs were released on the radio, I began to like the band more and eventually, I bought all of their CDs, plus Serj's solo album. SOAD is interesting to me because they talk about things I can relate to and I like to hear their opinions about politics and life, not to forget some of their random songs!

I was awake at like 3 A.M. watching music videos on VH1 when I saw System Of A Down for the first time. Aerials was it. But I had heard toxicity and sugar and spiders on the radio but didn't know who sung them

The first song I heard by them was Aerials, I absolutely loved it the first time I heard it. The melody attracted me, how it was so soft and relaxing, but still hardcore at the same time. The melody pulled me in, the lyrics kept me in. heart

I love the fact that they place their political views into a lot of their songs, Shavo and Serj are very out spoken activist. Aerials, BYOB, Sugar, Toxicity, and P.L.U.C.K. is just a few of their songs that are very out spoken.
no boy bands that sing about shotgun weddings here folks.

The Toxicity album cover.
Some kid in my class brought it to school one day. I remember looking at the cover and thinking 'Wow, this is a cool album cover'. The kid also played "Aerials" on the CD player in the classroom. I remember going home that night and looking them up. It was essentially love at first sight, even though it took me a few years to realize it. ^__^

My dad bought Hypnotized, and I noticed that they were different from everyone else, then i started doing some research, and they became my favorite band.

^ That's how it mainly happened for me too. However after doing research, I realized I recognized some of their songs from when I was little.
