Jajauma Hime I completely agree. I mean, why not just use hiragana? It would be sooo much easier. XD :B Maybe some katakana... But still, hiragana is great, compared to kanji. Yesh...

You could learn if you apply yourself. You have to study and buying textbooks and workbooks would greatly help. :3

Yeah right what? D:< I don't think Japanese is as hard as English grammatically. Maybe it's just me though.
The written language is tricky, but if you can get through that, it's not too hard.

The written language is tricky, but if you can get through that, it's not too hard. If you can get through kanji and become good in it, then you are considered a god. Otherwise though, Japanese is pretty easy, except with some crazy sentence structure things. 3nodding

Hm, well you've almost convinced me to give it another try, but I'm not much for leaving my couch unless strongly motivated. You guys reccomend any sites for learning it?
(Though I should probably be reviewing french before I'm thrown into ap next semester >.>; )

We should all learn together but I would feel bad because I'm sort of dumb & would probably be the last to get it.

Don't worry! I will lag closely beside you! =D
Hey, that's actually a pretty nifty idea though. We could practice here together!

Yeah, that would be kinda fun. :] But I wouldn't know where to start with teaching, so unless Kitsune Chan wants to make a detailed thread, the most we could do is simple stuff. :B

Teaching is a lot of work! I wouldn't ask that much from ya guys.
But how did you go about teaching yourselves? Any particular websites that helped you out, or did you find books?

I mostly taught myself through three different Japanese dictionaries (an old crappy one that I started with which is now dead from being chewed up by my dog Ryley and from getting snowglobe juice spilled on it..., a newer and better one, then a Kanji dictionary. I still have the last two and I still use them a lot) and watching a lot of anime... that's why I'm really good at pronunciation and really bad at everything else... Anyway, I wouldn't mind setting up a thread if I can get time to do so, though I really am not a reliable source for a lot of things. I've never taken any formal classes or anything.

Geez! I've heard people have learned from just watching a lot of anime, but that's insane! I wish I could pick it up that way!
But I'm slightly slow. 3nodding & need to write things and see them a million times or more to process it.

I'd have trouble learning from books, so anime would be impossible for me. I don't see how anyone could speak the language 100% from watching anime either. eek
