Finally! Someone who wanted to involved him. Gavin looked over at Stephan. Names? What would he name a dog? He blinked for a few moments, trying to consider a few.

There couldn't be an Ina, Osha, Haki, or Hamlet. Those names were already claimed as far as he was concerned. Hawk Man wasn't a dog, so that name wouldn't work either. He didn't know Lassie or Buddy. Definitely couldn't be Gavin. That was his name.

"All names I know all taken," he said, distraught. Remi pat his hair down lovingly.

"It's alright sweetie," she said, trying to comfort him before he started crying over it. Then they'd really be the center of attention. "We can come up with a name together."

Hmm. He'd never really thought of that. A toddler probably didn't have a whole library of names stored up in his brain. "Yeah, there are a lot of names. What do you think about Hawk, huh?" Alright, so it was hitting the simple mark, but it was a good name. They could be red and orange, like Gavin was, and he was blended with a hawk, right? Plus, they were fast.

Hawk. Like Hawk Man! Except not! Stephan was just officially dubbed a genius in Gavin's mind.

"Yes!" he said with glee. Perfect name.

Remi smiled, touched that he was taking her son's wants into so much consideration. "I think he likes it."

When she looked back at Stephan her eyes held a million thanks. Never had she met someone like him. He was so considerate, both of her and Gavin, thoughtful, and great to talk with. Not to mention a good kisser. Once again she felt solidly right in her actions of the night before. No regrets at all.

"Then when I get everything unpacked and settled we'll go looking for Hawk." The waitress had come back with the drinks, setting the pot of coffee out of Gavin's reach. Once that was safe, she handed the toddler a spill-proof cup of milk, and set two mugs in the center of the table. "Your food'll be out soon," she said, heading back to the kitchen. Almost as soon as the mugs were put down, Stephan poured them each a cup, craving the caffiene boost himself. After taking a sip, he added, "What color should Hawk be Gavin?"

As soon as the milk was put on the table, Gavin snatched it up and started to chug as best he could through the spill-proof cap. He hadn't had anything to drink all morning, so he was thirsty. Plus it gave him time to think of colors. As much as he wanted a rainbow colored dog, previous experience told him rainbow wasn't a color. He liked Hamlet's color. Ina was too purple for his taste.

"Brown orange," he said once he stopped drinking to gulp for air. It was the only color he really knew or liked.

When Stephan was done pouring their cups, she took her own mug to take a sip.

"Speaking of unpacking, do you still need help?" she asked, remembering him mentioning something about it last night.

Stephan cracked a smile at the boy's decision. Brown and orange, guess it was going to be a collie then, "Sounds like a plan." He took another sip of his coffee, trying to think of what she could do to help. It wasn't so much that he had trouble unpacking, just that he didn't really want to do it. "Ah.. Probably not help unpacking, but I figure I'll paint and everything before I get everything unpacked."

Ah yes, painting. They had talked about that when he showed her his apartment. Well, she could help with painting. That wasn't that hard. There were just a lot of things you needed to look out for.

"Do you need help with painting then?" she took another sip of coffee before cracking a smile. "Or are you getting it professionally done and spare yourself the hassle and the mess?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 06, 2006 10:50 am

"The hassle and the mess is the best part," he laughed, remembering how badly things had turned out when he'd been allowed to paint his childhood room, "As long as the whole wall turns out the same color, mostly." He took another sip, then set the mug down, "Some help would be great."

Remi nodded in agreement, holding her smile. As much as the clean-up sucked, it was always fun to create the mess. She'd just have to find a pair of clothes that she could afford to destroy in the process.

"I'd love to help," she said, and then looked at Gavin. "Though I doubt you'll want this one around when we pull out the paint."

She ruffled her sons hair, who put up a playful protest.

"Well, unless you want splotches of random color appearing on your wall. I think he got that idea from his friend Osha."

"Yeah, that'd probably be bad," he agreed, "I've already got crayon I need to cover up, paint would be a bit harder." That and he had to admit he'd like the alone time with her, even if it was chore-filled. The waitress came back again, this time carrying two trays. "Chocolate pancakes," she said, setting the plate down in front of Gavin. "Blueberry," in front of Remi, "Aaaand strawberry." In front of Stephan. "Thanks," Stephan chimed as she nodded and turned to leave.

Remi nodded a thanks as well, and took her first bite. Pancakes. She hadn't had fresh pancakes in forever. Not to mention pancakes with any kind of fruit mixed with them.

"Mmm," she voiced her approval. "These are really good. I need to come down here more often."

Gavin had already begun to attack his. Since he didn't have the coordination to use both a knife and a fork, he attempted to rip his chocolate pancakes apart into smaller bites. Didn't seem to be working out too well for him. Noticing his frustration, Remi paused for a moment to cut his food into toddler-sized bites.

"There you go," she said, then returned her focus back to Stephan and her own food. "Whenever you're ready to paint, feel free to send me a note or drop by. I can always send Gavin to Haki's or Osha's for the day."

Stephan nodded, cutting his own pancakes up before starting to make his way through them. Hmm, that part of the conversation was exhausted, time to move onto something else. They'd covered school, pets, home improvement. The future? No, it was probably too early to talk about that. Way too early. Neutral ground... "So, I have to admit that I'm kind of scared, about this how being a father thing." Not to mention the fact that the soul had looked like it would certainly be a handful.

"You shouldn't be," Remi took another bite. "You're great with Gavin. I'm sure you'll be fine when yours arrives."

Then something poked her memory. He'd been so sure his was a daughter. Didn't Dacian say that they couldn't tell the genders beforehand? Maybe they found out a way since Gavin was born.

"So you're sure it's going to be a daughter? Were they able to figure anything else out?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 06, 2006 11:37 am

For sure? "Ah... Not really. I'm assuming so because of the way it looked and seemed to be acting, Hadrian didn't really say anything different." Sure it could have been a boy, but a very strange one. Strange usually meant a lot of problems, and he prefered not to think about that. Havoc from a normal child would be hard enough as it was.

Hmmm...maybe they didn't come up with a way. That'd be really strange if it seemed like it would be a girl, and then ended up being a boy. Hopefully, for the sake of Stephan's sanity, it would be a girl.

"Well, I guess then you should hope for a daughter," she laughed a bit. "Or else that carseat would be a waste of money."

Unless the boy liked that kind of thing, or didn't mind. She took another bite of pancakes. Maybe she should look up a recipe and attempt cooking these at home. These were too good not to have on a semi-daily basis.
