"I suppose talking is better than nothing," Hiei said as he watched Kurama lie down. Not wanting to be lulled again by the touch of the bed, Hiei made himself comfortable by sitting on the ground and leaning back against it. Well, that might've been a lie. He wanted very much to lie on the bed as Kurama was, but he would not allow himself to. It was much too nice for his distant, iced disposition to handle without opening up.
But what to talk about? As noted before, Hiei was not much of a conversation starter. But it was worth a try. "I find it hard to believe we're here to keep a child occupied."
Not a very good try. But, at least it was something.

This certainly was out of the ordinary. First Hiei wanting to talk, and then starting a conversation. But he didn't mind it at all... in fact, he liked it, taking it as a small sign that he was opening up more.
"I have my doubts, as well," Kurama agreed, then continued, "but she hasn't given us any real clues. This whole thing is thought out to well, I know that much. She has to be planning something."
He really wished he knew what, though. It might allow them a peaceful escape, and maybe then she would return their family to normal. Because if they just broke out, assuming they could, their whole trip would have been in vain.

Hiei now guessed that Kasai was not one for dirty tricks, such as killing one in their sleep. But that does not mean he would give in willingly.
"Kurama," he said. "you can rest. I will stay awake."
He thought it might be wise for at least one of them to be at ease. Hiei was good at keeping himself awake, though in idle situations like this he never had to before.

Night had wandered off due to her short attention span. She missed dinner, so she did what any child would. She went to the kitchen and set the stove on fire. After efficiently making a sandwich and leaving the kitchen in a shamble, the girl went off to find the guests and play. Again. And she wandered. Again. When she finally got to the guests, she was too tired to play. So she eavesdropped instead.

Kurama doubted that he could fall asleep, so rather than directly decline the offer, he teased, "I don't think I could sleep with you staring at me the whole time."
Hiei's reasoning was very understandable, since it would be a better choice for one of them to sleep, but it wasn't that easy. To have that happen, he would have to let his guard down enough, and he didn't see that happening.
Not only that, but he guessed that the fire apparition would need the sleep more. Why couldn't Hiei just rest, instead? It was preferable to being bored.

Night sat by the door silent as the mouse that was gnawing on a piece of her sandwich by her feet. She had practice, listening to Kasai, but she was caught more often than...actually, she was always caught.
I hope they say something good, she grinned inside, then they'll have to play with me.

Hiei was noticeably embarrassed at the fox's tease. He moved once again to the windowsill to try to hide that. Gazing out, he decided he hated Kurama for being able to embarrass him like that.
"Idiot," he hissed, resting his head against the window. "Then if you won't sleep, I will. One of us needs to be on the ball in case the time comes."
And with that, he closed his eyes. Rarely Hiei let himself fall into a real, actual sleep when around others. He was usually just dozing off and would awake at the slightest detection of sound or movement. But every once in a while he was too worn to be able to control that.
In a matter of minutes, his dozing shifted and so did he. The window lock clicked as his body slumped somewhat against the frame.

Despite his attempts to hide it, he could see Hiei's embarrassment. This caused a small smile to form on his face, but he wasn't cruel enough to comment.
After the fox was sure he was truly asleep, he allowed his eyes to watch over the small form. Hard to believe how child-like he looked when he rested... so decieving. The boy looked... cute. Yes, cute. But he wouldn't /ever/ mention he thought that. He wasn't prepared to give Hiei his death wish just yet.
Kurama was almost tempted to move him to the bed, but didn't want to risk waking him. That'd only succeed in getting him screamed at.

Night opened the door when Hiei fell asleep. She army crawled in so she could get closer and find something to use as blackmail. And she hated to sleep alone. She knew it was a bad idea, but who could possibly hate a cute little kid like her?

Kurama sat up, switching his gaze from the Koorime to the female child. "Hello... why are you here?" His tone was a gentle whisper, since he still did not wish to wake Hiei. That would only cause problems.

"I'm being inconspicuous." She said, placing a finger over her lips. "What are you doing here?" She sat on the floor and looked up at the fox, getting comfortable.

The fox gave a soft chuckle, "I'm here with my... friend. I thought perhaps you might know the answer to that second question?"
He was being as nice to her as he could. If he could get Night comfortable with him, he might be able to draw some information from her.

"I can't tell you, 'cause I don't know. All I know is that Kasai has you here for a reason." She nodded gently.
Out of no where, she asked, "How old do you think I am?"

"So I see," he said, his eyes lowering as he looked slightly disappointed. Kurama had hoped that this would be useful, but he would humor the girl anyway. Night had given a sincere answer, and he got the feeling she really didn't know.
As for her age, he was not sure. It was rare that physical appearances would tell age in demons, but her attitude seemed that of a normal human eleven-year-old. Age really depended on what type of demon she was, and since he didn't know, he randomly guessed, "How about... fourteen?"

Night grinned at him. "I see I get younger and younger to others. Actually, I've lived here with Kasai for longer than that. Much longer." Her expression changed; the grin stayed the same, but her eyes changed, making it and evil expression. "I am older by far than even the Jaganshi."
The girls expression turned soft and childlike again. "But I don't like acting old. It's more fun to be a kid. I get to play with people. Like Carlos. He's a werewolf from Mexico. But you probably won't meet him." She shrugged.
(I gotta log off soon)
