I think the only difference between 40k and fantasy orks is they steal better stuff in 40k.
I thought fantasy orcs were beasts and 40k orks were a type of "fungus".. Or at least that was the story when I used to play. sweatdrop

its true...in the codex it says that they "grow" just like fungus and have the natural instinct of death...thats why i like da orks...and they can only take tanks from i.g or space wienies

Hey Everyone,

I've been in the process of rebuilding my ork army taking it from it's foot slugger past and updating it to the Speed Freakz. My first army list test the other day was a success with the exception of a few difficulties and I would like some help/advice.

For Trukk boyz, is it worth taking a nob? If so what wargear do you like to take for him?

I figure thanks to 4th Edition's majority rules deal, giving the nob 'eavy armour allows him to stay in combat longer as the boyz with less armour will die around him first. Also big horns/Iron gob's would be good to boost morale.

Here's the thing though.. do Boss poles have any use in speed freakz? Because the official rule is that they re-roll for mob up tests. Was there ever an FAQ or chapter approved giving the speed freakz a varient on that rule?

(At another time I'll post my army list, once I've completed decided on what I'm doing with it. lol)

Thanks for your time

Since when? My brothers codex says that they can only take tanks from the IG and the Space Marines. Anyway, besides, they are A fun army to play against. Too bad my brother has not built his yet. crying

I like to look at it this way:

The Orks only take Imperial tanks(but I wouldn't be adverse to seeing an Ork player with the Chaos Equvalents, though), because those are the only ones they respect. In a previous edition, they flat-out said that Orks consider Eldar weapons to be too weedy for Da Boyz. Necron Tech is likely too advanced to be used as it was made by the Orks(not to mention the low probability of it not phasing out), and Tau gear is probably somewhere between the two.

For Looted Vehicles, anyway. According to the Codex, Lootas can use options from any infantry unit, as long as the other player says it' s okay(and if he doesn't, he's an a**).

That being said, You can also use parts of various other army vehicles in conversions for regular Ork stuff, like Trukks, Warbikes, Wartraks, and Battlewagons. In fact, I would encourage it, especially if you play Deathskulls, who are supposed to be looters, anyway.

Yeah, the Basilisk is A good choice for the orks, because it has A weapon, the main weapon, that does nor rely on ballistic skill. The Orks could not hit A Barn if it were 5 feet in front of them with A boulder. They really suck in long range. Bassy all the way for them, dude.

I've found Mega Armor is only useful if you have some way of getting the Nob/Warboss around in it. The model is constantly moving through difficult terrain if he is on foot, even though he is a walking tank of close combat death once you get him stuck in. So I only use Mega Armor for Trukk Boy squads and Warbosses who ride around int heir own Trukk. Since only HQ's and Trukk Boys get vehicles tho, it does sor tof limit the number of effective Mega Armors on the field. To get around the vehicle limitations you can try using Looted vehicles (three Rhinos or a single Razorback or Chimera), Loota Boy squads (because they get the option to loot a vehicle if the squad they got their gear from has vehicle options, yay Tactical Marines and their new shiny guns and tanks), or Battlewagons. But yes, if you can manage to speed your Mega Armored Ork around so he gets in at least two melees, it is worth the point cost and the actual money. If you don't want to spend the money try glueing LOTS of armor plates, shoulder pads, etc. to a normal boy. If you're good at modelling it actually looks cooler than the real metal model anyways, and will give you more pose options. Hope that helps.

Agreed, it does not help one damn bit if you cannot even get into close combat.
