"Right here by the lab actually," he laughed, hopping up onto the sidewalk, "Pretty convenient for, since I don't really have much interest in gardening or anything like that." Glancing over his shoulder to see that she was following him, he headed up toward the building, not really looking forward to the five flight hike. There was probably an elevator somewhere, but he didn't really care enough to look for one. It wasn't that bad for everyday, and it was good exercise.

Embarrassed once again by her lack of direction and sense of placement, she smiled sheepishly and followed him toward the building. Five flights of stairs. After a week and a half of climbing four on a daily basis, five wasn't extremely difficult. By the time they reached the top, her breathing was a bit heavier. Looking over the railing, she noticed the view from how high up they were. In the distance you could see the city lights over the trees.
"Wow, you have a nice view," she awed. Cliche? Yes, but it still didn't change the fact that it was pretty.

"Really? Didn't notice it before," he admitted, leaning a bit over the railing for a good look, "Huh, I guess you're right." He started to open the door, then stopped when, by no real surprise, he found it was locked. "Um, you've still got my keys I think," he laughed, hoping they hadn't gotten left down in the car. He'd learned a lesson about leaving his door unlocked from Haki and Ina, and as annoying as it was to lock it and remember his key, it was better than having them running around.

"Huh? Oh! Sorry."
She had forgotten she'd absentmindedly stuck them in her pocket. After digging around for them, she returned them. In her head she made a mental note to remember to return things when people let her borrow stuff.

"No problem, really," he said quickly, counting through the keys to find the one to the door. When he finally found it, he unlocked it and pocketed the keys. Swinging the door open, he shrugged, "Home sweet barren home." The place still smelled a bit odd, and the doodlings of the two toddlers still dominated one wall, but for the most part, it just looked empty.

When she walked in she got a whiff of the odd smell, and decided to attribute it to the fact that it was a new apartment that had probably been sitting empty for a while before Stephan moved in. Vacant rooms tended to acquire strange smells. She noticed the doodles too.
"I'm guessing those are Haki's and Inanna's handiwork," she chuckled, remembering him mentioning that they broke in here. Luckily it had yet to occur to Gavin that walls were open coloring space. If he ever did, she'd have to make sure he only did it in his room.
"They need to install some sort of heating system here," she rubbed her arms, realizing that she was starting to get a bit cold. She had been walking outside at night in a short-sleeved shirt after all. "Well, this place doesn't look too bad. Should be nice when you get it all fixed up."

He nodded at the comment about the drawings. Honestly they wouldn't have bothered him much if they'd been say, in what was going to be the soul's bedroom, kids liked that stuff after all. But in his living room, just no. "Yeah, I'll probably put something in. Want me to get you a sweater or something? I kind of need to change out of these shorts anyway." He had had the bright idea to keep the box clutter out of the living room, and so behind the closed door of the future kid's bedroom was a maze of boxes, only some of them being marked. He'd managed to find most of his packed clothing, and some kitchen stuff, so he'd survive.

"A sweater or a jacket would be nice, thanks," she threw him a grateful smile. Usually she wore a jacket of some sort, but she hadn't been expecting to be out like this tonight. Pleasant change of plans. "I can wait in here if you need to go change."

"I'll just take a minute," he called, retreating into the spare room. It took him a bit of effort to find the box he was looking for, but when he did he managed to salvage both a sweater from when he was a pledge (it looked like it would fit her alright) and a pair of old baggy jeans. Thinking over his options for a few seconds, the mental war started up again. Dude, ditch the shorts, they're itchy. Go commando, it's not like you have much of a choice. True, he hadn't exactly thought far enough ahead to mark the box that contained his boxers and socks, but going commando in baggy jeans seemed like a bad idea. Shrugging, he just tugged the jeans on over the shorts and wandered back out, holding the sweater up to her, "This look good?" It had basically the same design as his tshirt, but bulkier and with a few mysterious tears.

While she waited she decided to take a seat on his couch. In the background she could hear the shuffling of boxes, indicating that apparently he hadn't finished unpacking just yet. When he came back in his baggy jeans, she stood up to accept the sweater.
"Thanks, it looks fine."
She quickly slipped it over her head, not having to worry about messing up her hair considering it already looked messy to begin with. Much better. Not necessarily something she'd go wearing out in public, but definitely good enough to keep her warm for the moment.
"So did you have any starting ideas on what you wanted to do with this place?" That had been the reason he'd invited her up, right? Blissfully unawares of any mental battles, she figured she might as well contribute to the original purpose of the visit.

"Uh yeah, actually. Mostly physical, not costmetic though. See how the kitchen's got a full wall in front of it so you have to walk through the door to see into it? I think I'm going to knock that wall out and seperate it with counter, maybe put a few stools on this side. Think'd make it look a bit more open?" He asked, trying to think of a slightly safer way to knock out the wall that just with a sledgehammer. And maybe a quieter one. He could try and remove it in one piece, but that'd be awfully bulky, and heavy.

"Replacing a wall with a counter would definitely open up the room," she considered thoughtfully. "It'd also make it easier to keep an eye on your kid if you have to be in there for any reason. I'd just make sure to get a copy of the blueprints of this place before you knock anything out. You don't want to accidentally knock out a wall that's holding up the roof."
Her dad had done that once. They had been remodeling their master bathroom to make it larger, or something. She couldn't remember too well. It had been quite funny when her dad had knocked out the walls of the closet, only to have most of the ceiling on that side of the room come crashing down. He wasn't hurt, but from then on he always consulted an architect before breaking anything down.

"Probably a good idea," he agreed, honestly never having given any real thought to what would happen when he knocked a wall out, "Maybe I could leave the sides and top part there and put some cupboards in, that way there'd be some support there just incase." He was really one of those guys whose motto when it came to remodeling was "Smash first, ask questions later" and so far, by sheer luck, he'd never knocked down a building. Though he had come dangerously close when he once decided to turn his bedroom into a maze in fifth grade. After that he'd pretty much left remodeling to his mother's crews. "And for the living room, maybe I could put a flat screen up against this back wall, right in the middle."

She nodded in approval, imagining the few changes he'd mentioned so far. The living room was too small for any regular television that she figured he would buy (assuming all men liked unnecessarily large screens), so a flat screen would work much better. At her apartment, television wasn't much of an issue. She had a little 19-inch screen on a stand where she watched her soap operas and World Cup Soccer.
"And what will you watch on your inevitably large flat screen tv?" she smirked.

Cracking a smile at the "inevitably large" comment, he shrugged, "Football probably." Deciding he might as well play along, though it wasn't really too far from the truth, he shook his head, "Nah, for football I might need to turn this whole room into a TV." Though, now that he really thought about it, his mind changed a bit, "Actually, that would be pretty cool." Well, he was trying not to be a pig, and so far thought he was doing a pretty good job, but he couldn't really pretend he didn't watch Sunday games near religiously. "Or I could put one in the ceiling."
