BASSOONS RULE!
i tried out for bassoon but didn't get to play it cause the other peole who tried out were taller. man i really like the bassoon sweatdrop
I just came to say bassoon and oboe rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sugarnew182 Yeah, I play Bassoon and thought that we double reeds should have a place to talk. Question. What do you guys play during marching season. I play Mellophone. I play trombone during marching band season. I seem to miss it when it's all done with, but bassoon beats all. heart

I'm barly starting to play Bassoon, my band needed it for concert season so I decided to play it I use to play all the saxophones but for marching i also changed and decided to become in Guard so im changing everything for my last year. cool

I play the oboe also, and I play the clarinet during marching band season, it is way closer to the oboe than anything else...and GO OBOES!

OBOES FOREVER!!!!! iu've been playin oboe for 7 years or so now.... i'm getting a lorei!!!!!!! IM SOO HAPPPYY!!! IVE SAVED FOR SO LONG AND ITS GONNA SOUND SO PRETTY!!!!
anyways..... DOUBLE REEDS FOREVER... we've actually had about 5 marching oboes recently.. that march oboe.. its cool!

Seguidilla I play bassoon too. And I've never had to march, I'm from Scotland and only brass bands march here. smile LUCKY!!!! actually my best friend lives in scotland... O.o and i think i'm having a little too much fun on this thread 3nodding 3nodding 3nodding

I started out on oboe in 6th grade and every year we would only march once in the London Bridge Day Parade. In 7th grade, they let me march with my oboe (you only march 7th and 8th) but in 8th grade we had a new BD and he didn't believe me when I told him I started out on oboe and that it's the only instrament I knew how to play so he made me go into a practice room with a flute and learn how to play it. I couldn't do it so my freind came and helped me for the next few days (she's the first chair flute) but we were just talking most of the time. Eventually, my dad wrote a note to my BD saying that he'd take me out of band if I came home with one more headache from the flute. So my BD eventually let me march with my oboe. 3nodding I'm going to talk to my BD next year about it and see if he'll let me march with my oboe. It's so fun! Have you guys ever tried marching with your oboes?!

The_Crazy_Muffin Nicholai Maxwell Leviticus can shove it whee I play the oboe! Or am supposed to. It freaking broke. And it'd be fine.. if I were in my schools concert band. But i'm in Symphonic Wind Ensamble, and our music is good, but crazy for the oboe. So I can play middle range.. but that's like, it. So I must get the oboe fixed. I've been practicing flute in place of it at home, but switched to clarient((My main instrument)) for the time being, because we have an evaluation in three days, and I dont want to go in there playing flute all crappy. Ahh. Well, my school is so small, we only have one band. So, I have no choice. I do really love my oboe, though. Me too. And I'm the only oboe. This saddens me greatly. crying I told all the flutes I'd teach them how to play the oboe for free, but it's just as well that they don't take me up on my offer. They are all crappy, except for one. They just don't want to work. Grrr... stressed

i'v been playing bassoon for a year and a half now. i just decided one day that i wanted to play it so i got the instrument and a fingering chart from my band director. all he said to me was good luck. ahh, those were the days...
